How beautifully and correctly to hang curtains in the apartment. What to hang curtains and curtains of different types: how to hang curtains? How wooden curtains are hung

Curtains - one of the finishing elements in the interior design, which brings cosiness and completeness to the room. To make the decor look beautiful and stylish, you need to not only choose the right fabric and curtain shape, but also immediately decide on accessories and fittings.

What do curtains hang most often on? Should I be content with traditional methods or is it better to give preference to modern options? The design of the window and the entire room as a whole depends on the choice of a device for hanging curtains, a method of attaching fabric, fasteners.

Traditional curtain rods

The modern assortment of curtain rods is so large that it allows the buyer to choose the right type for any room interior. Cornices differ in shape, design, method of attachment to the plane and the materials from which they are made.

  • Eaves rod - a classic type of eaves, which can be made of wood, metal, plastic and metal. The bar is attached with brackets to the wall or ceiling, can have several rows for hanging different types of curtains at the same time: curtains, tulle, lambrequin. If the windows are too wide, then experts recommend installing another bracket in the middle of the bar so that it does not bend. On both sides at the ends of the bar are installed fleroons, which can be selected taking into account the design of the entire window. In most cases, the kit includes rings for attaching curtains that glide perfectly along the bar. Metal-plastic curtain rods are available in a wide range of primary colors and natural wood (walnut, oak, cherry, mahogany), which is most in demand in living rooms.
  • Cornice-string - for a long time the well-known design of ceiling and wall cornice can be either single-row or multi-row. String cornices are used for curtains made of light fabrics: nylon, nylon, tulle, organza. Under heavy tissue, the string begins to sag over time. Ideal for rooms with false ceilings, for the kitchen or nursery.
  • Framing moldings look beautiful, stylish and hide the location of the curtains. As a baguette, you can use a wooden plank, plastic tape, which is decorated to match the fabric or to decorate the room in a classic style. Wooden baguette cornices are the most reliable and withstand heavy curtains and multi-tiered curtains. You only need to buy a baguette cornice after the interior design of the room, as its decor should be combined with the overall design of the room.

In a separate group, you can highlight the eaves for the children's room - light and bright systems with reliable brackets from environmentally friendly and safe materials. With children's eaves you can buy in a set curly tips, bright clips or “funny” magnets for fastening.

Modern cornices and systems

  • Profile cornices are a system of guides with grooves for runners. The design of the cornices can be varied, allowing them to be installed on the wall and ceiling. Profile designs are often equipped with a decorative hood to close the curtains or rotary segments in the form of a semicircular profile. Aluminum profile cornices are always used when installing manual, automatic, remote lifting or sliding mechanisms.
  • Flexible polymer-metal cornices are one of the most suitable types for bay windows, corner niches or for the installation of a canopy over the bed, regardless of the architectural features of the wall or ceiling.
  • Telescopic cornices are mounted between two walls using spacers in the form of internal springs in the bar. Such models are used in bathrooms, in niches, in doorways where it is undesirable to drill walls or it is not possible to install brackets.

Cornice systems are modern multifunctional products that include, in addition to guides, special mechanisms of lifting and movement and are used to hang certain types of curtains: French, Roman, Japanese.

Elements for fastening curtains

Each type of eaves has its own method of fastening curtains, which is carried out using various elements. There are functional mounts that try to hide behind decorative trims, baguettes, plastic stripes, ruffles and ruffles. The second group includes fasteners that are part of the decor of curtains or cornices.

  • Hooks Depending on the model of the cornice, the hooks have a certain design and consist of the upper and lower parts. The upper part is strung on the guides of the cornice, inserted into the grooves, put on rings and is made in the form of runners or hooks. And the curtains are hung on the lower part for loops, allowing to withstand rather heavy fabrics.
  • Rings. They are mainly used on round cornices and rods, as they easily slide along the pipe. The curtains can be sewn tightly to the rings, then when washing, you need to remove all the curtains along with the fixtures. In the second case, hooks, clips or magnets that hold the fabric cling to the rings.
  • Clips (crocodiles, crabs, clips). They allow to lay folds on the fabric or adjust the length of the curtains to the desired level. Clips are used together with rings, hooks or as an independent element on string cornices. A modern replacement for clamps can be curtain magnets, which do not require special preparation of the upper edge of the fabric. The front part of the double-sided magnet has a decorative design, which is selected in accordance with the design of curtains, windows and the room as a whole.
  • Hinges. Sew from the main or contrasting fabric in relation to the curtains. But unambiguously the hinges can only be used with a cornice-rod, which is easy to move along. Wide or narrow loops are sewn on both sides to the curtain and hold the fabric securely. But there is one drawback: to hang or remove the curtain on the “blind” loops, you need to disassemble the curtain rod. Button loops, buttons, Velcro or stitches will help simplify the task.
  • Eyelets - special rings, consisting of two parts, they are used to design holes in the tissues. The grommets are fixed on the densified upper edge of the curtain at equal distances, which results in uniform beautiful folds. This method is considered fashionable and modern for tubular cornices with a perfectly smooth surface. The cornice pipe or bar can be threaded into the eyelets or use traditional hooks.

Making the top edge of the curtain

The method of preparing the top edge of the curtain completely depends on the type of fasteners, on the type of curtain rod, on the design of the room and on the quality of the fabric chosen.

  • Kuliska. The top of the curtain is wrapped and sewn, leaving room for stringing onto the cornice (pipe, bar, string, rod). For greater decorativeness, the top of the drawstring can be decorated with lace, ruffle, and gathered with spectacular folds. Usually a drawstring is used if it is not planned to frequently move the curtains along the ledge.
  • Curtain braid. A simple and practical way to prepare hook loops immediately and decorate the top edge. Cords are laid along the entire length of the ribbon, with the help of which folds of the necessary density and splendor are formed. Curtain braid eliminated the need for housewives to sew hook loops manually. The upper edge of the canvas can be decorated with a single or double row braid. If you hang up on the loops located in the second row, the drapery will cover the attachment points to the cornice - this is very convenient in the absence of a baguette or decorative strip.

It is undesirable to use curtain braid on dense and too heavy fabrics - folds will puff.

  • The ties. This is a kind of loop fastening, when the free ends are simply tied on a bar or pipe in the form of knots or bows. It is convenient to hang and remove curtains on ties, and if the length allows, then, if necessary, you can adjust the height of the curtains. The fastenings on ties look especially romantic, therefore they are appropriate in a nursery for a girl, in a bedroom, in a kitchen or in a room decorated in a country style.
  • Velcro. It is used when it is not intended to move the curtain along the ledge: lambrequins, Roman curtains, Japanese panels. Sometimes cornices are sold with finished Velcro on a plastic tire. If one is missing, it is easy to attach the Velcro to the ledge yourself using a construction stapler or glue.

The design of the window opening requires preliminary preparation for choosing a cornice, fabric, all decorative elements so that they harmoniously combine with each other and with the general style of furniture and room.

Curtains are usually the final element in interior decoration. They fill the room with cosiness and bring completeness. But to make the design look complete and complete, you should pay attention not only to the appearance of the curtains, but also to accessories, accessories and the method of fastening.

But why hang the curtains? Should I give preference to traditional options or try more modern methods? The general appearance of the window also depends on which mounting method you choose.

Today you can find many options for curtain rods, this allows you to choose the most suitable for the design of a particular room. Cornices can usually be classified by type, method of attachment to the ceiling, shape, design, material.

Types of Cornices

The eaves rod is a classic type of eaves. It can be made of wood, metal, plastic. This type of cornice is attached using brackets to the ceiling or wall. It can have several rows for different types of curtains: curtains, pelmet, tulle. If the window is too wide, then you should install an additional bracket in the middle of the bar. On both sides of the rod are installed fleurons, which can be matched to the overall design.

A cornice-string is a type of cornice that is often used to attach curtains from light fabrics. It can be either single-row or multi-row. Often this method of fastening is combined with rings or half rings, which looks very good in minimalistically designed rooms. The cornice string is well suited for rooms with suspended ceilings.

Baguette cornices hide the place of attachment of the curtains. Baguette is made most often of wood. Since wooden baguettes are the most reliable and well-held even the heaviest curtains. This method is suitable mainly for living rooms and other rooms with a more solemn mood.

What to fix the curtains

For each type of eaves, use a certain type of fastening. Sometimes they try to hide the mount itself behind decorative trims, ruffles, baguettes, and frills.

The most popular fastening method is hooks. They have a certain design, which varies depending on the model of the cornice. The upper part of the hooks is attached to the cornice, and curtains are hung on the lower part of the loop. This type of fastening is used for both heavy and thin fabrics.

Rings are most often used on bars and on round cornices. The fabric can be sewn to the rings. Also, hooks, magnets or clips can cling to the rings. The curtains on the rings in the kitchen look great in interiors of all styles. Wooden rings are well suited for country-style kitchens. A metal look harmoniously in the kitchen in a modern and minimalist styles.

Clips allow you to drape the fabric and adjust the length of the curtains. They are often used with hooks or rings. But also on string cornices as an independent element.

Hinges can only be used with a curtain rod. They are sewn to the fabric and hold it securely. This simplifies the process of washing the curtains, because you just need to disconnect the hinges from the cornice.

Eyelets are special two-part rings that are used to make holes in tissues. They are fixed on the densified upper edge of the fabric at the same distance, and this results in a beautiful drapery. This type of fastening is most often used in combination with a cornice-rod, but it also looks good on a cornice-string.

How to hang curtains without a curtain rod

In addition to methods for attaching curtains using a cornice, there are methods by which you can hang them without using a cornice. It is very easy to remove curtains that are attached without the aid of a cornice, and their fastening does not interfere with washing and ironing.

To make the fastening of curtains without a cornice, you need:

  • screwdriver;
  • nails
  • self-tapping screws;
  • drill;
  • fishing line or strong thread;
  • roulette;
  • hammer;
  • velcro.

You need to pull a strong thread or fishing line over the window, attaching it to two small cloves nailed to the top of the window frame. Curtains can be hung both at the top and both. This method of fastening is best for the kitchen.

Making the top edge of the curtain

The way the upper window is designed depends entirely on the design of the room, the type of fastening, the type of cornice and the characteristics of the fabric.

Drawstring - a type of fastening when the top of the fabric is wrapped and sewn, leaving room for stringing on the cornice. Also, the top can be draped or decorated with ruffle or lace. Usually they use a drawstring; often they do not plan to move the curtain along the ledge.

Curtain braid is a practical and elegant method to make hook loops at once and decorate the top edge. A cord is sewn along the entire length of the tape, with which you can adjust the number of folds. You can use single or double row braid. If there is no baguette or decorative strip, then it is better to hang by the loops located in the second row, since the drapery will cover the places where the fabric is attached to the cornice.

Ties are a kind of loop fastening when the free ends are simply tied on a bar or pipe in the form of knots. With the help of ties, you can adjust the height of the curtains, as well as hang and remove the curtains if necessary. This type of mount looks romantic and the poet looks very good in the nursery for the girl.

Velcro is a very convenient way of attaching curtains. It should be used when you do not need to move the curtain on the ledge: Roman curtains, Japanese panels, lambrequins. Sometimes a curtain rod can be bought already with a finished Velcro on a plastic tire. But even if the curtain rod is without Velcro, it is very simple to attach it with glue or a construction stapler.

What to fix curtains in the kitchen

The choice of curtains for the kitchen should be treated with responsibility. They will often have to be washed, due to soot and fumes. Therefore, you need to choose a mount taking into account not only aesthetic aspects, but also practical ones. So that the curtains can be easily removed for washing. In addition, kitchen curtains should easily slide apart and twitch.

The heavier the fabric, the more voluminous the drapery will be. If you buy heavy dense fabric, then the curtains will turn out with large beautiful waves. But if light suits the design of the room, then give preference to translucent materials. If the window faces the south side, then it is worth choosing more dense fabrics so that the curtains protect the room well from sunlight.
In a small kitchen, it is better to hang short curtains. Long are appropriate only if they are from thin and light tissues. Often for small kitchens, the length of the curtains to the windowsill is used.

Roman curtains for the kitchen - the most practical option. For this type of curtain, a special curtain rod is used, which is attached to the wall, to the ceiling or directly to the window frame. Therefore, it is very convenient to remove them for washing. There are several types of fastening of such curtains - chain-chain, rope-lifting and electronic control mechanism. When choosing a mounting method for a room, it is worth considering both the appearance and practical aspects. You can also decorate the Roman curtains with bows, braid, tassels, fringe and ruffles.

Having started repairs in a new apartment or simply changing the style in a room, special attention is paid to window framing. There are many options for dimming and decoration - curtains, curtains, blinds, and all of them must be attached to something, which is also an important element. What the curtains are hung on is called a cornice. It can be made to order according to individual design or purchased at any home goods store.

Varieties

Cornices are designed to support curtains, embodying also decorative functions in the interior of any style. But before choosing the desired curtain rod, you need to carefully measure everything, take into account the features of the location and shape of the window, the weight and type of curtains, and the style of the interior. The following types of cornices are distinguished.

By mounting methods

  • Ceiling. Fastens to the ceiling with screws, consists of a profile and guides, most often made of aluminum or plastic. A huge plus is that it can be attached no matter how much space is from the ceiling to the window.

  • Wall. A classic look that is attached to the wall using special brackets. For the manufacture of such cornices use plastic, metal or natural wood. An advantage is the many varieties of design.

In appearance

  • Barbell.A traditional wall eaves in the form of a bar having several guides on which it is possible to place curtains, tulle and lambrequins at the same time. The fabric is hung mainly on the mount-rings, which easily go around the bar, without hampering their movement. The bar, lugs and main holders can be chosen in various colors, shapes and design solutions, for example, in the Art Nouveau style.

  • Baguette. A flat cornice that can be mounted both to the wall and to the ceiling. A hidden plastic tire makes the fasteners and the top of the curtain invisible, folds are even. The edges of the base can be selected with a rounding and placed in the entire wall, this solution makes the frame as if it were one with the wall, it looks neat and stylish. Most often it is made of plastic, which makes it light and inexpensive, and is selected in accordance with the desired color, texture or ornament.

  • Cornice string.Has a taut metal cable between the holders that are attached to the wall or ceiling. Used to accommodate light tissues - tulle, organza, nylon. Do not hang heavy curtains on such a curtain rod, as the string may sag over time. Often used in the kitchen.

According to the guide system

  • Flexible.A narrow cornice, which is used both for standard windows and for non-standard forms - arch, attic, bay windows and triangular windows, their base is polymer-metal.

  • Telescopic.It is spacer with a sliding bar. It is installed when it is not possible to attach to the ceiling or walls. When fixing it, drilling of walls is not required, since inside the base there is a spacer mechanism with a spring. Often these cornices can be seen in the bathtubs.

  • Profile.It is universal, as it can have different lengths and widths. At the base are the guides for the runners, they can be mounted on the wall and ceiling. Well suited to the style of a loft or Scandinavian, as if you choose the color of the walls, they will be almost invisible. They are currently very fashionable.

By material

  • Metal. Mostly used aluminum.
  • Wood. From birch, pine, walnut or beech.
  • Plastic.

Also, all guides or rods are single-level, two-level or three-level, depending on how many layers of curtains are used.

Other types

Unlike standard types of cornices, there are a number of variations that are either modernized or additionally equipped.

  • Auto. It is based on a profile cornice with a built-in mechanism, with the help of which the curtains are moved apart in different directions or in one. The mechanism can be controlled by pulling the handle or pressing the button on the remote control, then an electric drive is still required here.

  • Lifting for Roman curtains.A lifting mechanism with a rotor chain or cord control is built into the cornice. Pulling the handle, you can raise the curtains in the crease.
  • For Japanese curtains.There are several guides in such a cornice, since Japanese curtains look like stretched blocks of canvas that move apart on rollers, standing up for each other. Attached to the ceiling.

  • On furniture handles. A more decorated option, the curtains on such a cornice are attached using loops or rings. Sliding curtains are not provided.
  • Velcro fastened.Another option for attaching curtains, usually from light fabrics. The convenience is that the curtains are easy to unfasten for washing, but the minus is that you cannot open the curtains. Ideal for beveled windows. One side of the Velcro is glued to the ceiling or wall, and the other is sewn to the curtain.

Eaves Styles

Since the cornice with window frames is part of the style in the interior, then on sale you can find exactly the one that emphasizes the peculiarity of the room:

  • minimalism, hi-tech, loft - strings or metal rods are ideal;
  • classic style - wooden cornices, rods and baguette with traditional patterns;
  • rustic style - curtain rods with forged tips and brackets (wooden or metal);
  • japanese, Roman style - aluminum cornices;
  • art Nouveau - round cornices with large rings or grommets.

How to choose the size?

The cornice can be arranged in size relative to the window or in the width of the entire wall. Sometimes there are several windows on one wall and one solid cornice is installed on the entire wall. You should also consider where the mount will be installed and what type of cornice is selected for the room. If the curtain rod is a rod, then we must not forget that they have decorative tips, which, if not correctly calculated, may not fit. If a profile cornice is selected, then it should also be taken into account that if a cornice with fillets is selected, the main part should be shorter than the required length. The length of the brackets should also be considered if there is a water pipe on the wall.

How to install?

To install the wall-mounted cornice-rod, you need to measure the length of the rod and guides and make parallel marks on the walls for drilling holes for mounting the bracket. Next, we drill two holes at a right angle. We drive in the dowels of the diameter as the hole obtained and a length of 5-6 centimeters. We fasten with the help of fixing screws for the brackets, after which we insert the brackets, and in them there is already a bar with rings or clips already worn.

To install a plastic ceiling cornice, you need to measure the location on the ceiling, assemble all the components, mark future holes on the ceiling. Drill holes, insert dowels of the required size. Attach a cornice, fasten with screws.

Types of Curtain Anchorages

When the base is already selected, you should choose the fastening of the curtains, which are also diverse in functionality and design.

  • Rings.They can be of different sizes, colors and materials. They are attached to the fabric with hooks that are tied with ribbons or sewn. Used on a curtain rod. Glide easily, which makes moving the curtains easy.
  • HooksThey fit into the guides of the cornice, and a curtain is attached to the lower part. There are hooks for rings.
  • Clamps.They put on guides, but they can also go complete with rings. There are different sizes and shapes, very convenient to use.
  • Eyelets.The rings that are located on the curtains themselves - in the upper part where the cornice rod is threaded, the diameter of the rings should coincide with the diameter of the rod.
  • Hinges.Used only for curtain rods, as they are attached to the base. They are sewn to the curtain, they usually choose the color of the curtains or the same fabric.

Before the invention of the curtain tape, the process of installing curtains on the cornice turned into real flour. It was necessary to drape the fabric correctly, calculate the necessary interval between the hooks and securely fix the curtain. Today, there are many ways to hang tulle on a curtain tape and form folds. An openwork tulle with an original braid will become an elegant decoration of any interior.

Types of braid

Before fixing the curtains, curtains or curtains on the ledge, you will have to choose high-quality and necessary accessories to them. One of these elements will be a curtain braid. It is a tape inside which special cords are threaded. Such garters have the following functions:

  • form ready loops for hooks;
  • adjust the number and size of the folds of the canvas.

When choosing a curtain tape, pay attention to the following parameters:

  • density and quality of the material;
  • the width of the line;
  • type of fixtures;
  • possible ways of drapery fabric.

When there is no need to hide the loops, you can use cotton braid. It is more convenient for sewing, but it has one "tricky" feature. When washing, the material shrinks in almost 20%. Before attaching such a curtain tape, it is very important to wash, dry and gently steam it with an iron.

Also, the braid under the cornice varies in width:

Important! To get the same distance between the folds, it is best to use a centimeter tape and pre-calculate the number of elements.

The end result will be affected by the number of rows of loops. To create simple folds on tulle or curtains, it is enough to be limited to 2 rows. More than 3 - will allow you to assemble a canvas with decorative falling flounces and volume folds from the upper edge of the product. They can be formed:

  • vertically for curtains like Roman and French;
  • horizontally for classic curtains, tulle, curtains with a lambrequin, Italian curtains.

Finally, the type of tape may differ in the type of fastening and fixing:

  1. Hooks and loops. This is a soft hardware that allows you to form folds of various types. It can accommodate up to 2 rows of loops on which a tulle or light translucent curtain is hung. For 4 rows, hanging tight curtains and drapes without additional hemming and hemming is provided.
  2. Eyelets. If you envisage the use of eyelets, the curtain tape is fixed on metal rings. Creases will be formed manually.
  3. Kritz-Kratz or Velcro tape On the seamy side of the tape there is an adhesive strip for fixing the tape to the fabric itself. One of its varieties is Velcro Velcro, which consists of 2 elements (loops and hooks).
  4. Self adhesive. This is a tougher version of the curtain braid made on the principle of "kritz-kratz".
  5. Hot glue. In this case, the adhesive strip is heated with an iron. The layer becomes liquid and under the influence of temperature the tape is instantly glued to the curtain.

    Advice! Use models on the eyelets for the pipe cornice, and braid with loops for the cornice with hooks.

Benefits

The convenience of the curtain tape lies in the fact that it is very easy to sew on a machine to any fabric, creating folds of different densities. You can also adjust their size and quantity using cords that run along the tape. With the advent of such accessories, it has become much easier to hang tulle, drapes, curtains and curtains on ledges.

Curtain tape has several advantages, with which:

  • there is no need for manual sewing on loops (in ready-made versions of ribbons they are already provided);
  • the process of tailoring curtains of varying complexity is simplified;
  • width and length of tulle, curtains and curtains without drastic measures (hemming, trimming, etc.) are regulated;
  • neither the tape nor the hardware deteriorates or deteriorates with time;
  • pulls together in minutes thanks to the cords;
  • gives clear and neat folds to the tone of the "mood" of the room itself;
  • elegantly and unusually draped fabric of any texture and density.

With a curtain braid, it becomes possible to originally design a window opening, as well as radically change the style of the interior.

Assembly options

Once you have chosen the usual braid, it must be carefully stitched to the upper edge of the curtain from the wrong side. The distance should be 5 mm from the edge. The edges of the tape themselves are tucked inward by 1.5 cm. After that, you must tighten the cords so as to obtain the desired shape of the folds.

For a particular type of drapery is characterized by its "build coefficient" (CS). This term means the ratio of the size of the canvas to the already assembled version of the tulle on the curtain tape. The range of CS ranges from 1.5 to 3 m. For example, you get a tape with a build factor of 3. This means that from a canvas 6 meters wide, you get 3 m of draped curtains.

There are several options for assembling tulle and curtains:

  1. "Pencil". This versatile crease type exhibits narrow repeating elements. The assembly coefficient is 1.5, so a large consumption of material will not occur. It is easiest to hang a tulle on such a curtain tape.
  2. "Columns". You get even rows of folds. Their number and density will depend on the strength of the pulling cords.
  3. "Puffs." Volumetric uneven folds will look spectacular on knitted fabrics due to the property of the material to stretch. The effect of luxury will bring a fabric with a metallic sheen or lurex threads. The folds are formed using a wide ribbon and 4 rows of cords. The assembly coefficient is better to choose from the mark of 2.5. In this embodiment, thick curtain drapes or Austrian curtains will look more elegant and expensive, as in the photo.

  4. "Fan". This type forms exquisite fan folds. As a rule, they consist of 3-5 feathers.
  5. "Butterfly". Create screeds in the form of rhombuses will be obtained thanks to the screed of 4 cords on the tape.
  6. "Glass". The folds look like an elongated glass with a leg. The tape fabric from the bottom must be picked up with a double pin to achieve the desired shape. For these purposes, it is best to choose a braid with COP 2.5 and a double row of loops.
  7. "Bows." Using shoelaces, patterns are created in the form of single or double bows, located right next to each other. Choose a curtain tape from chiffon, mesh or organza with a COP from 2.5 to 3.

With any of these options, you will be able to design a window opening to the desired interior styling.

How to prepare curtains?

To properly hang long curtains or curtains with curtain tape, it is important to hem the fabric a little. If we are talking about tulle, it is necessary to raise the lower edge of the canvas at least 5 cm from the floor. Overlock will be needed mainly only for those products in which highly crumbling material. It is important to make a single seam here, because otherwise you risk getting a thick and sloppy edge.

Sewing tape is as follows:

  1. The canvas is leveled, ironed.
  2. Sewn braid indented 2 cm from the edge of the curtain. In the process, it is important to bend the edges and ensure that the lines are parallel.
  3. Once the tape is sewn, you must check the cords. They must be tightened.
  4. Hooks and clips are attached to prevent the tulle from falling out of the loops. In this case, the rule of the same number of loops on the hooks is observed. This will allow the curtain to give a complete and neat look.
  5. Any curtains with a ribbon are hung both on the tire cornice and on the bar. If you go too far with the height of the curtains or tulle, you need to raise the hooks a row higher. Thus, you will hide an inconspicuous cornice.

    You can correctly hang the curtain on the curtain tape in various ways. You should know that the distance between the hooks should not exceed 6 cm. Only after fixing them on the hinges, the finished canvas is hung on the cornice.

    All created folds on the curtains dictate a certain style in interior design:

  • assembly in the form of a "pencil" with a neutral color is suitable for the classic style, for offices or offices;
  • assembly "fan" will look good in the living room or bedroom with a luxurious and expensive interior;
  • A “glass” with curtains or tulle on the floor will decorate spacious halls, halls and a relaxation room;
  • light "puffs" will look appropriate in the nursery or in the kitchen;
  • assembly "bow" fits perfectly into the romantic interior of the bedroom.

You can sew the curtain tape both with the help of the machine, and manually, using the following rules:

  1. Stitches. They should not stand out on the front side of curtains or tulle.
  2. Hooks and rings. If you use such accessories, place them across the entire width of the curtain web. The only thing is that they can’t be hung on threads, because the tulle itself will be ugly pulled from this.
  3. The effect of airiness from the folds. To make curtains or curtains easily fall out with beautiful folds, sew a curtain tape indented up to 20 cm from the top edge. So the curtain, even from the most durable fabric, will gain the effect of airiness.
  4. The uniformity of tulle. If you choose a plain, translucent or kapron tulle without patterns, it is better to hide the curtain tape from the wrong side of the curtain.

Use interesting methods of assembling tulle, curtains and curtains to create a comfortable and stylish atmosphere in the house.

Decorating windows, walls and doors with curtains is an important element in the process of giving the house completeness, comfort, and style. The modern market offers products of a wide variety of textures, densities, colors, which should be taken into account when choosing cornices, types of fastening, design methods. After all, the correct installation of curtains can radically change the look of even the most unprepossessing premises for the better.

We select a cornice

There are various types of cornices:

Barbell

The classic version, made of a variety of materials: plastic, wood, metal. Curtains are attached to it using rings, eyelets, hooks, clips, loops from the same fabric.

Pickups will look good. But there is no need to close the bar with the help of drapery and lambrequins, since unnecessary accessories will only add bulkiness to the design.

String

For fastening to it clips, hooks, holders are used. Suitable for thin, airy fabrics, tulle, veil, organza. From heavier fabric, the string cornice will stretch down, which will look ugly.

Almost imperceptible, he focuses on the beauty of the fabric and the texture of the curtains themselves. Does not need lambrequin closure. Applicable in rooms in a minimalist style, high-tech.

Baguette

Curtains are simply hung under it, which makes the process the easiest, not requiring drapery. The use of pickups is acceptable. The dense curtains, and the thin organza, and the muslin, and the net look equally magnificent on it. Suitable for rooms in rustic, English, classic styles.

Aluminum profile

Most have runners, to which the curtains are attached using plastic hooks. There are new profiles with special mounts. There are models with a pressed-in rigid part of the Velcro tape. They fasten lambrequins with the soft part of the tape sewn on top. This allows you to hide all fasteners and hooks.

Spacer cornice

It can be adjusted in length, so it fits any window. Inside is a spring. This type is used, for example, in the bathroom for curtains. It is convenient in that it allows you to hang curtains without drilling. It is mounted between the internal slopes of the window or (if there are no slopes) between the vertical frames.

After the spacer, it is lengthened and fixed by turning one part of it counterclockwise (to shorten, on the contrary, it must be twisted clockwise).

Mounting board

The first option: one part of the Velcro tape is glued to the board, and the curtain is attached sewn on top of the second part of the tape, like on an aluminum profile. The second option: the board is covered with the same fabric, and the curtain is attached to it with a stapler.

Ceiling cornice

The material of manufacture is plastic. Special mounting hooks included. They can be mounted in 1, 2 or 3 rows. Meet with and without a turn.

When choosing a cornice, you should pay attention to whether the product will easily move and slide on it. This largely depends on the mount used.

Types of Mounts

A large number of them were invented. You can beautifully hang curtains on a tape (braid). It is dense or light, with various frills, folds. It has 1 or 2 rows of loops for attaching to the cornice with hooks.

The tape is sewn from the wrong side, picking up fabric and creating a nice drapery. Assembly density can be adjusted. Suitable for all types of curtains, open cornices. It has a long service life.

There are other types of mounts:

  • hooks - one of the most economical and common options that are easy to install and able to hold almost any canvas, excluding heavy curtains;
  • rings - ideally hold heavy direct curtains, look great with vertical drapery, are used in conjunction with hooks, tape, sewn to curtains, of the minuses - the inconvenience of removal before washing;
  • grommets - rings in the fabric, creating holes in it, allowing you to effectively put on different types of curtains (with the exception of Roman, rolled, air and light organza, tulle) on the eaves without using hooks, clips, ribbons, it is advisable to choose the color, style and texture cornice;
  • drawstring - a narrow pocket along the upper edge of the fabric, into which the bar is simply threaded, a silent and inexpensive option, suitable for niches, dormers, bathrooms, as a screen for dividing the space;
  • hinges from the same material as curtains, made in a variety of forms - bows, knots, or ribbons, braid sewn at both ends or fastened with Velcro, buttons, buttons, ideal for a bedroom, a nursery (but in the living room and they are undesirable in the office;
  • clamps (crocodiles, crabs, clothespins) are one of the oldest universal fasteners that does not require processing the upper edge of the material (just bend it to the desired length and clamp), suitable for medium and heavy curtains, but which can leave puffs on the fabric.

All types of fasteners are suitable for a certain type of curtains, so it is important to choose them correctly so as not to violate the style of the room.

We hang the tulle correctly

Tulle is used both in combination with curtains, and independently. It visually enlarges the window, makes the room more spacious. It is good to use in a recreation area.

How to hang a tulle without making a mistake in size? In width, it should be 2-3 times the width of the window. If there is a ribbon (braid) on top of it, then you need to pull the 2 cords hanging at the edges of the braid, collecting tulle to the desired width. When assembled, it is permissible to exceed the window width by no more than 30 cm. The hooks are inserted at the same distance from each other into the pockets along the strip.

When fastened with hinges or eyelets, the folds are distributed manually, at an equal distance from each other. Hooks are inserted into the loops or holes of the eyelets. If the tulle is hung together with a curtain, it is necessary to use a double cornice to enable their separate opening and closing.

Where and how to hang

The classic form is ideal for a bedroom, lounge, dining room. They can be hung on the ledge with the help of any type of mounts, supplemented with a lambrequin.

French (with flowing undulating folds) and Austrian (gathered on top of the tape, with scallops, completely smoothed when lowering) will look great on large windows. They fit into bedrooms and living rooms, lined with antique furniture.

Romanesque or Roman (with deep even folds that form when rising due to wooden battens attached to the wrong side, controlled by two-way cords) and Japanese (moving like a screen over the window, consisting of even solid paintings with rigid inserts at the top and bottom, not allowing them to fold, controlled by a cord or electric control) are used in rooms with a minimalist style, in the kitchen, restaurant, office.

Roll ups will be a good solution for small rooms. You can hang the curtains on the wall above the window (if there is no window sill), attach it to the ceiling, window. Color rolet to match the walls visually increase the space.

Features of filament curtains

To give the room an exotic, original look on the window or in the doorways, you can hang filament curtains. They do not need additional decorations, with their help you can separate part of the room. You can install in various ways:

  • just hanging on the bar, where it will be easy to move;
  • sewing on the upper part of the braid, collecting the threads in a thicker muslin, attaching it to the ledge with rings and hooks;
  • sewing braid with hooks in a fan, which will create the effect of straight folds;
  • attach the threads with masking tape.

The threads can be braided, separated by hooks into two parts, etc.

A competent installation with appropriate fastening and decoration of curtains will be a great way to decorate a home, make it more cozy, attractive and comfortable for a person to live.
