How to attach blinds to horizontal windows. Blinds: which type of fastening to choose and why? Installation of horizontal cassette blinds

In summer, blinds become an invariable attribute of a plastic window. Especially if the light of the midday sun is directed directly into the window, you have to look for protection behind curtains or blinds. The thing is, without a doubt, useful and practical. They are easy to use and take up almost no space in the window space. Rolled or cassette designs are slightly inferior in popularity to classic horizontal lamellar systems or strict with a vertical arrangement of fabric sets. The latter, for a number of reasons, have become wildly popular in offices and office premises. The classic curtain has been removed from the business style everywhere.

Conventional horizontal lamellar blinds are much more often found in a window opening of standard sizes, vertical ones are mainly used in rooms with high ceilings and large windows. Roller blinds are preferred for opening plastic windows as a "dull" protection from the outside world - in this they are irreplaceable. This could be a bedroom or a children's room.

Blinds fastening methods

Modern designs of fasteners for blinds on plastic windows can be roughly divided into three categories:

  • Capital fastening to the frame using self-tapping screws or screws;
  • Fastening the blinds system on the sash of the plastic window, allowing it to open freely in all positions, including in ventilation mode;
  • The gentle way of fastening makes it possible not to disfigure the plastic profile by drilling holes.

According to the already established tradition, vertical systems are fixed on any window opening according to the baguette scheme, without contact with the glass unit. This is due to the design of vertical lamellas, their width is most often at least 10 cm, therefore, to regulate light transmission, at least 10-15 cm of space is required between the window and the plane of the lamellas.

In addition, there are increased requirements for the appearance of vertical blinds used in office buildings. They should be successfully combined with the interior of the room and usually, in addition to plastic windows, cover the window sill and part of the space of the walls adjacent to the window opening.

The design of such a blind practically allows you to open the sash of a plastic window only in the ventilation mode. The fastening of vertical blinds is almost identical to the installation of a baguette for ordinary curtains, only instead of the latter, a special heavy cornice is installed with a hidden mechanism for controlling the louvers.

Roll-up options use a powerful and heavy web storage system, therefore, almost always fastening to a plastic window is performed using additional fittings and awnings. This allows the structure to maintain rigidity and strength while pulling the web to the required height.

Both horizontal and roller blinds are designed for one sash and are placed on the inside of the window.

A method for attaching blinds to a plastic profile without self-tapping screws

Most people rightly believe that it is better if the blinds are attached to the plastic window without drilling holes.

The system is based on a set of horizontal strips of plastic, aluminum, pressed cardboard or wood connected in a special way into one flexible sheet. A special shutter mechanism allows the strips to be rotated around a horizontal axis, thereby changing the shaded area of \u200b\u200bthe window opening.

All the secrets of blinds control are hidden in the box cornice located at the top. The total weight of the structure depends on the size and area of \u200b\u200bthe blinds, the width and material of the lamellas. Fastening of standard versions of blinds with a lamella width of no more than 2 cm and a length of no more than 80 cm can be easily done on the plastic of a window using a special double-sided tape.

To glue the curtain rod to the smooth plastic surface:

  1. We use double-sided tape or glue applied along the entire length of the glued cornice;
  2. When gluing, before applying the glue to the area of \u200b\u200bthe plastic frame, it should be thoroughly degreased with acetone or alcohol;
  3. Apply one layer of glue to the side and dry for 1 hour. Then reapply the glue and fix the curtain rod. Further operations can be carried out in 10-12 hours.

In the lower part of the window, clamps are glued in a similar way, which hold the blinds in the expanded and taut state. A control cord or a special strip is threaded into the hole on the cornice, by rotating which the angle of inclination of the lamellas is adjusted.

Advice! The use of double-sided tape is a completely justified option, provided that the material used is of high quality.

To compare and test the strength of the bond, try securing two identical objects to a smooth surface using tape and glue. In the first case, the pull-off force will be significantly higher than for the adhesive bond.

Fixing blinds on plastic windows using self-tapping screws

Before starting work, make sure that the height and width of the model you have selected corresponds to the proportions and dimensions of the window glass. On the Internet, there are many recommendations to use a plastic glazing bead for attaching the blinds - a narrow, 10mm wide, strip of plastic that fixes the glass in the frame. Usually the authors motivate the advice by the fact that in case of failure, the glazing bead on the plastic profile can be easily replaced with a new one. It is easier and significantly cheaper than changing the cladding.

It is easier and more reliable to fix the curtain rod of the blinds directly on the main array of plastic window cladding, in approximately the following sequence.

We mark with the help of a level and a pencil the position of the cornice over the glass of the window so that the window glass is covered exclusively by lamellas. We put fastening earrings in the upper part of the cornice. These are the elements that serve to fix the eaves body on the external brackets, we install them inside the eaves according to the instructions.

We mark the position of the brackets on the cladding and mark with a pencil the places where the holes are drilled for the screws. With a drill, about 0.5 mm less than the diameter of the self-tapping screw, we drill one hole for each bracket.

For fastening, we choose self-tapping screws of the sizes recommended by the instructions, or standard aluminum ones, for a Phillips screwdriver. The length of the working part is no more than 12mm. Having screwed in one self-tapping screw, the brackets should be leveled using a building level. Otherwise, the cornice can be fixed with a slope to the left or right.

After that, the remaining holes are drilled for attaching the brackets, and the missing fasteners are wrapped. The cornice is put on the brackets, all the necessary accessories for the blind mechanism. In a similar way, the clamps are attached to the lower part of the window with self-tapping screws, after which the mechanism fittings are adjusted.

Important ! When choosing drilling sites, one should not retreat excessively to the periphery of the window; it is possible to stumble with a drill on hidden details of the window control mechanism.

Installation of blinds on an opening sash of a plastic window

The sash device allows you to abandon the use of self-tapping screws for attaching blinds of any configuration. In this case, a special plastic earring is used to fasten the cornice, which is hooked, like a hook, to the upper edge of the window sash. Depending on the length of the plastic window and the weight of the blinds, there may be two or three such "hooks". The earrings simply "snap" into the eaves body, firmly held inside it due to the elasticity of the plastic. Further, the cornice is simply hung on the window sash.

It should be noted that this method of fastening is the most versatile and allows you to painlessly remove the blinds from the window and mount again an unlimited number of times.

The disadvantages of such a fastening system include:

  • The fastening earring squeezes the rubber seal of the sash, with prolonged use this can lead to partial pushing through of individual fragments of the seal and loss of tightness;
  • The plastic of the mount is inferior in strength to the metal brackets, respectively, the service life of such a mount is much shorter;
  • When attaching the blinds, a limiter for the opening angle of the sash should be provided to prevent possible damage to the inner surface of the window slopes by the louvers.

If you are going to do all the work on your own, without the help of a specialist, it will not hurt to first get complete information on how to install horizontal blinds on plastic windows so as not to get confused in the process, but to clearly perform all the necessary actions. This is why this instruction is provided to you so that no problems arise during installation. Be careful and careful, and most importantly, do not rush, you need to do everything with well-defined movements, especially if you decide to drill the profile of the sash or window frame.

Materials and equipment:

There is nothing complicated, as you yourself will see, here is not, however, it is worth observing the necessary sequence, and for starters, at least acquire all the necessary devices and equipment, without which it will be not only difficult to cope with the matter, but also completely impossible.

  • Themselves, previously purchased, unpacked and assembled as needed, horizontal blinds, clearly sized for your purposes.
  • A hammer.
  • Roulette, no less than the widest or highest place of the window opening.
  • The level with which it will be necessary to check the horizontality of the upper cornice bar.
  • Pliers.
  • Pencil or marker for marking.
  • A set of screwdrivers, and possibly a special tool for tightening parts of the blinds.
  • A drill or hammer drill to make special holes for the curtains.

Installation of horizontal blinds on PVC window sashes

With this method of installation, the blinds are attached with small self-tapping screws (included) to the window profile. They must be installed so that they do not interfere with the handle to turn. Be careful: if you drill too close to the glazing beads, you can damage the glass unit. Therefore, in this case, correct measurements are very important.

Installation of blinds on a PVC window

Installation step by step

The procedure is as follows:

  • We install the mounts on the cornice so that they do not interfere with the moving parts inside.
  • Trying on the product on the frame. We expose it so that the lamellas go to the drain frame and to the right at the same distance.
  • We mark with a pencil or marker the place where the fasteners should be located. During this operation, you must keep the cornice as straight as possible. You can navigate along the contours of the window frame or use a level.
  • Although the plastic is quite soft and you can immediately screw self-tapping screws into it so that the frame does not crack, it is better to pre-drill the holes. The drill diameter is slightly less than the diameter of the screws. Usually, the kit includes self-tapping screws with a diameter of 3 mm, so the drill must be taken by 2 mm or 2.5 mm.
  • We take the brackets, fasten them with self-tapping screws to the frame.
  • We insert the curtain of the blinds, pushing until it clicks.
  • We close the ends with the plugs that come with the kit.

Having to drill holes in a window frame can be daunting, but that's okay. In case of improperly made holes, unsuccessful ones can be filled with sealant. White silicone, not acrylic (acrylic turns yellow quickly). The characteristics of the windows will not be affected. What could be dangerous - getting into a glass unit. Then it can crack. But this is not fatal - it can be replaced, although it will not be cheap.

We put the lower clamps

But that is not all. To finally install horizontal blinds on plastic windows, you need to drill a couple more holes - for the clips (also called anti-wind). These are additional fasteners at the bottom of the opening sash of the window. The bottom edge of the blinds is tucked into them. They do this so that when airing the blinds do not hang down, do not dangle from the wind and do not knock objects on the windowsill.

Don't hang out ...

We put the clamps as follows: we try on, pulling the blinds down a little, mark the places of fasteners, drill holes, install. We fill the lower bar into the installed clips. Now, even with a draft or an open sash, the blinds will not dangle. The only thing you need to watch out for during installation is not to get into the glazing bead (this is a long bar that goes along the glass unit and holds it). It is necessary to drill a hole in the frame itself, stepping back at least 1 cm from the edge. The rest is no problem.

No drilling

There is also a way to install blinds on plastic windows and not drill the frame. This method is available only for those blinds that are hung on opening sashes. In this case, they are simply hung on plastic mounts / brackets that slide onto the frame from above. To prevent them from moving, a strip of double-sided tape is attached to the back of the bracket. After removing the protective film, you can glue it (but you can not fix it).

The shape of the plastic fasteners depends on the type of cornice. So you need to select for each specially

These L-shaped plastic brackets are not included, but you can buy them from a store or a firm that sells horizontal blinds. This method is convenient by simply dismantling the blinds, which is convenient if they need to be repaired or washed.

Installation methods for horizontal blinds

As well as vertical blinds, horizontal blinds can be installed on the ceiling, on the wall, to each window sash or in the overlay. There are two factors to consider here: the depth of the window and the width of the sill. First, measurements are taken of the windows.

Installation diagram: 1. When installing blinds in a window opening, the length of the blinds should be reduced by 2 cm from the bottom and from the top. In the case of the overlay method, it is necessary to do the opposite - add 5 cm on each side. 2. Using the tools, make an accurate marking of the places for mounting the structure fasteners. Installation of fasteners is carried out using dowels and special screws. Experts recommend using dowels 6 × 100 for this. Everything is ready in order to install the cornice with all the elements and check the operability of the mechanisms.

Installation of vertical blinds differs from horizontal blinds in that special weights are attached to the vertical models from below, which should be pulled together with a chain from both the inside and the outside. The most optimal option for blinds is the option of attaching them to each window sash. The advantages of this method are obvious: compactness, preservation of mobility, ease of opening a window.

To install the blinds, you will need self-tapping screws, dowels, a drill, a pencil, a tape measure and a level. If the fastening is carried out using self-tapping screws, then plastic fasteners will be needed. But the most reliable way of attaching the eaves is to mount the structures with screws to the frame. If the blinds are installed on plastic windows, you can do without drilling. When blinds are installed on non-standard windows, it is necessary to use lamellas of a special shape and length.

How to measure

Having decided to hang the blinds yourself, keep in mind that you need to correctly measure. It depends on how convenient it will be for you to use them.

If you have chosen a vertical structure, you need to know the dimensions of the window opening: the height and width are measured from the attachment point.

The principle of measuring dimensions for the horizontal type is a little more complicated.

Fastening in a window: the length and width of the opening are measured. In the absence of a window sill, the length may increase to the floor.

Aluminum and plastic blinds can be easily shortened and adjusted.

For the working window, you can choose blinds in two halves. You just need to measure the height of the glass and add 2 cm at the top. The same principle is used for the width of the glass, only you need to add 0.5 cm on both sides.

In this way, you can make measurements for roller curtains as well.

Advice! If the window does not open, this kind of curtains can be installed right in the middle of the window.

By making measurements yourself, you save your time and money, eliminating the waiting (often in an inconvenient time period for you) for representatives of window companies.

Mounting methods

Together with the blinds, manufacturing companies apply fasteners, screws and instructions. After carefully reading it and armed with certain tools, the installation process will not seem so difficult.

Before proceeding with the fastening, let's figure out the methods.

Fastening without drilling

To easily remove the blinds at any time and not leave marks on the window frame, walls or ceiling, use the following methods:

  1. Fix the bracket with double-sided tape;
  2. Attach the bracket to the top of the sash that opens, and the bottom with magnets.

Drilled installation

Do the following:

  1. Place the eaves against the top of the sash and mark the installation points. It is advisable to drill holes for the screws in advance.
  2. Attach the bracket, take the screw and carefully screw it in, securing the curtain rod.
  3. The line holding the slats must be fixed. Drill the holes at the bottom under the glazing beads, the line should fall into the plugs, which we insert into the holes.

Important! A separate curtain should be attached to each leaf.

Drilled installation is relevant for installing the curtain rod in the ceiling or wall areas. For this you need:

  • make holes in the selected place;
  • hammer in several dowels;
  • fix the brackets with screws.

There may be differences in depth between the glass unit and the frame. Because of this, the fasteners sometimes do not completely adhere to the window. To eliminate this drawback, take U-shaped pads and substitute them (several can be) into the resulting void.

Using brackets

The louver carrier is fixed directly on the bracket, which makes it easy to detach for washing and cleaning if necessary. If you decide to completely remove such curtains, this can be done quite simply. In this case, the window remains the same impervious to wind and temperature changes.

You can fix the bracket with screws as shown below.

Bracket fixing methods without screws:

  1. Hook onto the top of the opening sash profile. This method will allow you to remove the bracket at any time without effort.
  2. Stick with double-sided tape.

Types of blinds

For plastic windows, compact horizontal blinds and more comfortable vertical blinds are chosen with equal success. They differ in the way of opening, so in horizontal - the canvas moves up and down, in vertical - to the side.

Classic horizontal models are recruited from lamellas, but now roller blinds, pleated blinds and roman blinds, which also belong to this category of goods, are in no less demand. Basically, they are hung only on a window or on partitions.

The video shows photos of beautiful horizontal blinds in the interior

Please note that the video clearly demonstrates how to combine blinds with traditional curtains, and also contains good examples of how to choose light protection systems for various interior styles.

Vertical blinds take up more space, but they allow you to completely close the opening and even the entire wall. This type is most rational for the design of large areas of glazing, long corridors, openings of complex architectural shapes, for example, curved or arched.

The video below contains beautiful photo examples of various types of blinds.

Types of blinds and their differences

  • horizontal
  • vertical

Horizontal and vertical ones consist of lamellas (separate strips fastened together in a structure).

Pleated

This protection consists of 2 guides, with a fabric in the middle. During operation, the fabric gathers in folds, opening the sash.

Roll

The principle of operation lies in the name, with the help of a mechanism the fabric is collected into a roll.

Cassette

Cassette cassettes were invented specifically for plastic windows, the cassette mechanism is attached to the window sash, if desired, the canvas is completely retracted inside.

In order for the blinds to serve you faithfully for many years, you need to correctly, accurately and securely fix them. Installing blinds, although a quick process, requires some knowledge and experience.

The methods of fixing the blinds differ from each other depending on their type, the material from which they are made and the type of window. There are plastic and wooden windows. Also, the method of installation on a dormer and a non-standard window is slightly different.

How to take measurements correctly

First of all, the blinds must be of the correct size. To do this, you need to decide on the method of securing. The methods can be divided into two groups:

  • Attach blinds directly to window frames. Here there are options for using self-tapping screws and fixing the structure without drilling. In addition, it is possible to install common fasteners on the entire frame or on each leaf separately.
  • Place blinds on walls or ceilings. Several additional solutions are also possible here. - installation in the window opening, on the ceiling in front of the window, on the side walls. For each case, you will need to measure your parameters.

If you plan to put blinds on several windows, you should measure each opening separately. Although it seems that the window openings are exactly the same, this is not always true. A discrepancy of 2-3 cm can lead to difficult-to-eliminate consequences.

If you plan to mount a vertical structure, you must measure the height and width of the window opening. You should be careful when measuring, since you can shorten too long lamellas, but adding additional elements to narrow blinds will be problematic.

Do-it-yourself installation of plastic windows in the article:

If the model has horizontal lamella placement, measurements will be somewhat more difficult. If the blinds are mounted in the opening, you need to determine what the width and height are. The length of the canvas is selected at its own discretion. You can find both models up to the windowsill and long options that reach the floor. If necessary, blinds with plastic or aluminum slats can be easily made shorter.

When installing directly on the frame, you need to consider whether the window will open.

If the window is solid, not opening, you can measure the width of the entire opening. If the sash will open, it is worth ordering a hotel structure for each half of the window. Measurements should also be taken accordingly. Measure the parameters of the glass (width x height) and add 20 mm at the top and 5 mm at the edges.

When designing blinds that are directly attached to the frame, make sure that they will not interfere with the operation of the hardware and will not become an insurmountable obstacle during its maintenance (lubrication, adjustment, etc.)

Mounting instructions

After you have made measurements, proceed directly to the installation. You will need: a pencil, a screwdriver, brackets, a drill (drill 6 mm), a hammer, scissors, a dowel and a screwdriver. How to fix blinds with horizontal panels? This process is carried out in several stages:

  • step back from the glass 6 cm on both sides, mark the required place with a pencil, make sure that the line is even, otherwise the crooked curtains will work poorly and quickly fail;
  • use a screwdriver to make holes in which you will attach the brackets;
  • if the window opens, make holes in the upper part of the sash, if the window is deaf - on the outside of the glazing bead;
  • insert the blinds into the brackets, snapping the latter;
  • at the bottom or side of the window sash, make a hole for the retainer;
  • lower the blinds and check their operation;
  • if at some stage you have difficulties, watch the video, which shows in detail how this process takes place.

Vertical blinds

To attach vertical curtains, use the following instructions:

  • mark with a pencil for the brackets (they should be located at a distance of 10 cm from the edge of the cornice);
  • having drilled a hole, insert a dowel into it and fix the brackets using self-tapping screws;
  • install the mounting brackets and decorative panels on the cornice;
  • collect the runners and secure the canvas in them;
  • weights are attached to the lower part of the blinds, then a decorative chain should be hung;
  • install the decorative panel into the mounting brackets by inserting the end corners and side panels into its ends;
  • check how the vertical shades work with the control cord and chain;
  • watch the tutorial video to make sure you did it right.

Fastening roller blinds

You can fix roller blinds either with self-tapping screws or without drilling. The most popular are blinds that can be hung directly on the casement. This requires double-sided tape, duct tape, or liquid nails. This method is suitable for both deaf and opening windows. Do not forget that the frame must first be washed and degreased with alcohol. More reliable is the fastening on self-tapping screws, which is carried out according to the principle of installing vertical blinds.

Blinds are a design that does not imply careless handling and, if used incorrectly, quickly breaks down

Installation of horizontal blinds

A huge plus of horizontal blinds - they can be installed on plastic windows of any shape, even dormers are no exception.

Frame installation - ideal for horizontal slats, allowing you to open and close windows individually or simultaneously.

To install horizontal slats, you need to stock up on a screwdriver, a screwdriver and a marking material (chalk, pencil or alcohol-based felt-tip pen).

Having decided on the method of fastening, proceed to the following steps.

Find out the dimensions of the window (measure the width and height).

  • If you are going to install the blinds in the first way - in the window opening - you should take 2 centimeters from the height. So you will achieve the result when the lamellas do not touch the windowsill.
  • If you chose the third method - fastening the blinds to the overlay, add 5 centimeters to the width, but always on each side. In this case, the height is determined by the wishes of the owner.
  • Installing blinds on windows (for each sash) is considered the simplest and easiest way of fixing. The window dimensions must be measured taking into account the fittings, that is, so that it does not limit the window's operation, does not touch it.

Remember: both plastic windows and shutters must function perfectly and efficiently.

Therefore, it is very important to make accurate measurements before hanging them.

  • Unpack the blinds. Evaluate their quality, inspect for defects, check components. Everything is in place?
  • Lean the blinds against the window. It is important that the body fits between the borders of the glazing beads on both sides of the glass.
  • Attach the blinds tighter. They should be in the same plane with the window.
  • Assess the overall situation. The blinds should be at the top of the transparent area.
  • Record visually the presence of a gap, which is very often formed between the fasteners and the window sashes. The dimensions of the gap can be different and vary from a few millimeters to a couple of centimeters. They do not depend on the correctness of your actions, but rather the costs of the construction of the window and glass unit. Manufacturers have foreseen the possible risk and, to correct the current situation, equipped the blinds with linings, special elements that allow achieving the desired thickness and reducing the distance between the fasteners and window sashes.

Be sure to pay attention to the signs printed on the base of the linings. They can be of two types: R (from the English word right) and L (left)

Right and left application respectively.

  • Lock the gaskets until a tight hold is established. Then fix them in the gap between the fasteners and the window field.
  • Mark the mount.

The geometric shape of the curtains is the main reference point when marking. Be sure to check that nothing prevents the window from opening and closing. In the place of adjustment of the cord, install an additional fastener.

You can fix the blinds using one of two options.

  1. Fastening to glazing bead. A very delicate process that requires care in choosing the length of the screws. An incorrectly chosen length is the first step towards depressurization of a glass unit, the result is a violation of the thermal insulation properties.
  2. Mounting on a profile is a simple and safe process, but it requires attention and clear actions.

Remember! The bead can always be replaced, the profile is not.

  • Install the structure

Install the blinds using long self-tapping screws. It is advisable that you use the self-tapping screws included in the kit. The aesthetic appearance of the window after installing the curtains depends on them. This step must be done with great care.

  • Install curtain rod, runners, slats

Put the decorative cornice on the mechanism, fix the plugs on the sides. Using a drill (the diameter should be 3 millimeters), make a hole for the plastic "fungi", they are located in the lower edge of the glazing bead. This will allow you to set the guide line. After pulling it tight, fix and cut off the excess.

  • Control step - checking the functioning of the entire structure

How to take measurements

If you decide not to use the services of a specialist, but to hang the blinds yourself, you need to make the correct measurements, since the convenience of using the curtains will depend on this. If you are installing vertical blinds, you will need to know the dimensions of the window opening. Measure the height and width from the attachment points. Be careful: shortening long curtains is not difficult, and adding plates to too narrow will not work.

Measurements when installing a horizontal model will be more difficult. If you will be attaching curtains directly to the window, you will need a value for its width and height. You can choose the length of the blinds as you wish: they can be up to the floor or only cover the window sill. If necessary, aluminum and plastic blinds can be easily shortened or adjusted using the built-in mechanism.

If the window is blind, you can fix the curtains inside. Separate blinds for each half are suitable for the opening window. In this case, measure the width and height of the glass, and then add 2 centimeters at the top and 0.5 centimeters at both ends.

It is important that the existing window fittings do not interfere with the functioning of the blinds. Measurements are made according to the same principle for installing roller blinds.

You can make all the necessary measurements and order blinds using these data. However, in this case, you will spend more money than buying standard models. To save money, first find out what the dimensional grid is and choose the appropriate fastening method. If you have difficulty with measurements, watch the instructional video.

Mounting scheme for horizontal blinds

Alternative types of installation

It is not necessary to drill a window to attach the blind base. There are other options for fixing blinds to windows. To install roller blinds, you will need the following tools:

  • double-sided tape;
  • liquid Nails;
  • scissors;
  • ruler or level.

Roller blinds are a smooth fabric that can be rolled up, raised, lowered using a special mechanism. Roller blinds do an excellent job of protecting from the scorching sun rays, at the same time decorating the living space. Consider how to attach roller blinds to plastic windows. This type of curtain is attached separately to each casement. Roller blinds come in several forms, and the fastening method of each type may vary.

Fastening roller blinds to double-sided tape

The Mini roller system is a classic roller blind on a compact shaft. They can be easily installed on separate plastic casements. Mounts are fixed without drilling, and thanks to this, the frame remains intact. To prevent the fabric from sagging, the lower metal strip should be fixed with special magnetic holders. The sash can be opened in any way.

Roller blinds are roller blinds that are assembled into a cornice that looks like a compact cassette. This type of curtain is suitable for flaps, plastic or aluminum. The most popular curtain options are Rollite and Uni systems. In models of these designs, strips are provided for double-sided tape. With the help of these strips, the guides are glued to the sash.

Cassette blinds are controlled by one chain, with the help of which the curtain height is regulated. A special retainer is installed on the window frame, which keeps the chain from sagging when the window is ventilated.

Blinds Isotra

The Isotra and Isolite systems are also popular. A plastic window with this type of blinds can be used in any mode without fear of breaking this system. Fastening is carried out on glazing beads, in which you will need to make small holes. If such glazing beads are damaged, they can be replaced simply and quickly at any time.

Interestingly, the method of fastening blinds to the wall is still being applied. This type of installation does not harm the plastic window, you just need to make the right measurements.

DIY installation instructions for blinds

The very first step is sizing. You can fix the curtains to the window opening, wall, ceiling. Having determined the place of their future location, it is necessary to correctly measure.

To fix the curtains in the opening, you need to make the following measurements. Determine the length - it will be equal to the height of the window glass with insulation (usually a strip of rubber) plus 1 cm.

Width is defined as the width of the glass, but taking into account the sealing gum. Do not forget that the plastic window should open freely when the blinds are assembled.

If you are going to mount the curtains on the wall, then, pay attention, they must completely cover the plastic window. The width will be 10 centimeters wider than the window

The length, taking into account the cornice, increases by about 5 centimeters, its final size depends on whether the shutters will cover the window sill or are located slightly above it.

When blinds are attached directly to plastic windows, the length will be its height and the width will be equal to the width of the closed window.

We use the drilling method

You can fix the structure using drilling tools, or do without them.

Consider how to properly hang horizontal curtains with your own hands directly to the window sash using the drilling method.

Since the curtains are mounted on self-tapping screws, we mark the places of their installation by applying the upper bar of the blinds to the upper window profile. We make holes with a small drill, fasten the brackets.

We fix the blinds and fasten the fishing line, which will hold the lamellas. Again, we make two holes on the bottom of the sash by drilling, placing them exactly under the upper exits.

We fix the fishing line in the structure of the blinds, fix the ends with plugs and thread them into the prepared holes, pull the fishing line.

The considered drilling method is usually used when it is necessary to hang roll or horizontal structures.

To hang vertical curtains, this method is also used. Holes are drilled at the attachment points, and they are mounted using connecting elements.

We take measurements

With the type of blinds (horizontal, vertical) and the way they are installed (on the wall, ceiling, in the window on the sash, in the window opening), you must decide before buying. And even before you start taking measurements. Because different installation methods require different sizes. Only with the correct measurements will it be easy to install blinds on plastic windows.

That everything worked well, it is necessary to take measurements correctly

Another important point: you need to measure each window separately... Sometimes it just seems that they are exactly the same. Believe me, there is a difference. And the measurement results must be recorded and signed, which particular window you measured and which sash it is. Accurate and detailed records will help avoid confusion when purchasing and installing.

In the window opening

Although the appearance of the products is different, when measuring, there is no difference between horizontal and vertical models. If you intend to install the blinds in the window opening, it is necessary to subtract 2 cm from each width from each side. It is possible to subtract 1-3 cm from the height of the opening. Such gaps are needed so that the canvas hangs freely in the opening and the lower edge of the slats does not rub on the windowsill.

How to measure when installed in a window opening

Please note that it is possible to install the blinds on the plastic windows “into the opening” not flush with the edge of the opening, but deeper - at the glass itself or 5 or more centimeters from the edge. If the opening has a trapezoidal shape, the height / width of the opening will be less for the glass, so we carefully measure

And yet, in this case, it is better to put marks for installation even when measuring. Then you will know exactly where you will need to install the blinds on plastic windows so that their dimensions fit perfectly.

Ceiling or wall

Here measurements depend on your desires. The length of the blinds can be up to the floor or only up to the windowsill. Moreover, depending on the type of installation chosen, the lamellas can cover the windowsill or not. So the length is whatever you like best.

This is a wall mount. When mounted on the ceiling, the length will increase., And how much - you choose

The width of the blinds with this installation method is wider than the window opening. How wider it is depends on your desire, but the minimum approach is 5 cm on each side. But if the window is in the same plane with the wall surface, you will need additional brackets, which are not included in the package: the lamellas must be spaced at least 5 cm from the glass surface so that they do not interfere with the opening of the sash for ventilation.

On the sash

When installing blinds on a multi-sash window, there are two options - to put one device on each sash or order one long one for the whole window. Usually the first option is chosen - it makes it possible to open and close the sashes with the blinds lowered. If you choose this installation method, you will need to measure each leaf and record the results. The flaps can be different, so be careful.

The option on the right is more convenient

The width of the blinds when installed on the sashes is taken 3 cm wider than the glass. When hanging, a lamella approach of 1.5 cm is obtained on the profile. It is convenient and does not interfere with opening / closing windows. The length depends on the mounting location, but usually it is 5 cm longer than the glass height.

Once again, we draw your attention: we measure each sash!

Varieties

Today, the assortment of building stores includes several types of blinds. Depending on the specific type, the features of fastening curtains change.

Horizontal blinds

Several types of horizontal blinds can be found on sale at once. The lamellas are installed horizontally in them, which explains the name of the structure. Thickness, width and type of material can be arbitrary. The structure can be attached inside the frame, to the frame itself, to the slope or over the window block.

Horizontal blinds are most often installed in institutions

These blinds are installed in offices, industrial facilities and other places. These designs are universal - if desired, you can find horizontal blinds of almost any color and shade.

Vertical blinds

Due to the design features, such blinds are most often mounted over windows.... Lamellae in this case are oriented vertically, made of plastic or fabric. On the market are varieties that differ in the length of the lamellas.

Vertical blinds are mainly installed in residential areas

The installation of this model is most often carried out in private houses, but they are also in demand in offices. Installation of vertical blinds is carried out on self-tapping screws... Alternatively, ceiling mounting is practiced.

Roller blinds

Roller blinds are made of fabric, completely cover the glass, if desired, they can be lifted by turning into a roll. Installation is carried out using brackets, screws or on adhesive tape.

Roller blinds can be installed without drilling walls and flaps - on double-sided tape

The need for drilling varies by type:

  1. Vertical structures are mounted on top of the window or under the ceiling. In both cases, you have to drill the surface.
  2. Horizontal blinds can be attached to the upper slope or to the casement windows. Without drilling, such structures can be mounted on the casement of a window unit.
  3. The interframe analogue, as the name suggests, is intended to be installed inside the window itself. This option requires drilling as many holes as possible.

Mounting on brackets

  1. Given the dimensions of the device, places where brackets will be installed are marked. Between them, the distance should be 55-60 centimeters. Avoid getting the brackets into the steering mechanism, clips and calipers.
  2. The brackets are fixed to the ceiling, wall or window sash.
  3. Turn the bracket latches fully counterclockwise.
  4. The upper cornice of the product is inserted into the bracket, after which the latch is turned clockwise until it stops.

Drilled installation:

  1. Brackets are installed on the upper part of the casement, and plastic corners are fixed on the lower part.
  2. On the edges of the upper cornice, cables are fixed in special bushings.
  3. The cornice is fixed to the brackets.
  4. Along the edges of the lamellas, through special holes, a cable is threaded.
  5. In the lower brackets, a second pair of bushings are installed, through which the cable is threaded and fixed with a screw.
  6. The mechanism is fixed with a hook handle.
  7. The handle holder should be directed towards the sash.
  8. After finishing the installation, you should make sure that the structure works.

Installation of a structure without drilling using overhead brackets:

  1. Marked places for the installation of brackets.
  2. The brackets are secured with a screw.
  3. On top of the sash, a structure is installed, after which it is fixed with a key.
  4. Slip-on lower brackets are attached to the lower part of the sash.
  5. Ropes are fixed in the bushings.
  6. The cornice is fixed on the brackets, after which the cable is threaded.
  7. The plastic bushings are guided into the holes in the bottom bracket.
  8. Use the screw to fix the cable in the bushing.
  9. A handle hook is attached to the control mechanism, after which a holder for it is installed.
  10. Finally, you need to check the operation of the structure.

Installing the blinds inside the frame

It is possible to install interframe blinds to a wooden window of a twin structure or an old plastic one. To do this, the distance between the panes must be at least 3 cm. Mounting the mechanism inside the window is a little more complicated than mounting it on the sash. In addition to fixing the bracket, drills are needed in the frame to ensure the output of the control of the swing-lifting mechanism.

  • Drill two holes at the top of the inner sash (one above the other) in the profile from the side of the awnings - above the upper awning.
  • Fix the frame brackets to the upper profile.
  • Snap in the cornice of the blinds in the brackets.
  • Unscrew the control cord and thread it through the bottom hole and through the guide spring.
  • Bring the flexible rod through the top hole.
  • Use a clamp to connect the flexible rod and the control handle.

How to properly install blinds on plastic windows

Even 10-20 years ago there was no choice of window coverings - only massive curtains and curtains were hung on the windows. Progress does not stand still, and in recent years new types of window shades have appeared. The most popular now are blinds. In apartments you can often see a combination of blinds + roman blinds and blinds + curtain. This way of curtaining protects the house from the sun, street noise and is able to decorate the window. More and more often, instead of heavy curtains and curtains, compact roller blinds and blinds are used in everyday life. They are much better suited to metal-plastic window frames. They are used both in offices and in residential premises.

How to install horizontal blinds correctly

  • What you need for efficient installation of blinds
  • Preparatory stage for installing horizontal blinds
  • Step-by-step instructions for installing horizontal blinds

The fashion for bulky curtains that collect a significant amount of dust in record time has already passed, so most people prefer to use light, airy fabrics to decorate the window area. To protect the window of a room from strong sunlight and curious passers-by or neighbors, horizontal blinds are increasingly used.

Horizontal blinds are easy to use, which is why they are popular.

It is not difficult to figure out how to install horizontal blinds, but in this case there are a lot of subtleties that need to be taken into account so that in the future the mechanism works correctly and performs its function. Blinds can be made of wood, plastic and aluminum, the latter being the most common, since they are extremely easy to use and can be installed on all types of window frames.

Step-by-step instructions for installing blinds

To understand how to install the blinds on the windows with your own hands, you need to consider their placement. For example, when using PVC staples, you can do without drilling the frame. This solution allows you to accurately attach the product with a minimum investment of time.

When installing using brackets (for large blinds), work is carried out according to the following scheme:

1. Above the wall or frame where the blinds will be installed, a distance of 10 cm is marked. When marking, you need to use a level, which will eliminate uneven installation of elements.

2. Above the drawn line, the fixation points of the brackets are determined according to the width of the upper cornice.

3. Along the holes in the brackets, the places where the holes for the dowels are prepared are marked.

4. At the marked points, the wall is drilled, and dowels are installed.

5. The brackets are fixed on the wall, the upper cornice is installed in them and assembled according to the instructions from the blinds set.

6. Insert the control handle into the hook of the swivel mechanism located on the upper eaves (relevant for the design with cord and handle).

7. The correctness of installation and ease of opening of the window is checked when the blinds are fully folded.

In addition to the specified instructions, the video attached to the article will help you to get acquainted with the details of the installation. Expert tips and accurate descriptions of each step will allow you to complete the work without errors.

Installation instructions without drilling

To install blinds without drilling with your own hands, no tools or even skills are required, it is important to correctly calculate the width of the canvas and attach it evenly to the surface. ... Clips

At the clamps

Mounting on special clamp brackets is perhaps the easiest way to hang the blinds with your own hands, but this type of mounting is only possible on an opening window sash:

  • assemble the cornice and canvas according to the manufacturer's instructions;
  • put the clips on the cornice, check if they touch the moving elements and if they interfere with the movement of the cords and chains;
  • attach the cornice to the sash, outline with a simple pencil where to hang the brackets;
  • unfold the canvas, check if it touches the protruding elements of the window, if necessary, the curtain must be adjusted to size: cut in width and shorten;
  • unclip the clips from the eaves, open the sash and put on the brackets according to the marks, make sure that they fit snugly and evenly;
  • you can attach the curtain rod and canvas to it.

The diagram shows one of the options for how to hang blinds without drilling

On scotch tape

If you are looking for a simple and at the same time reliable way to hang blinds on a plastic window with your own hands and not damage the profile, then the option of attaching to tape is the most optimal. It is important to correctly stick the cornice so that the canvas hangs strictly down, without distortions, otherwise there will be ugly overlaps and gaps from the sides and bottom, in the end the blinds will quickly break.

Installation steps:

  • assemble the blinds according to the attached scheme;
  • try on the window, if necessary, cut it from the side and along the length, taking into account that the minimum gap between the canvas and the protruding elements of the window is 5-10 mm;
  • mark the extreme points of the cornice;
  • draw a line between them, ideally it should be strictly parallel to the windowsill;
  • if the geometry of the opening is not ideal, make a plumb line from a rope and a weight, attach it to the marks, outline the side lines where the edges of the canvas will pass, and straighten the line along which the cornice will be glued, let it be better to have a slight skew at the top and bottom than ugly gaps and overlaps on the sides;
  • wipe the place where the cornice is fixed with a solvent or acetone;
  • remove the protective film from the double-sided tape, and stick the curtain rod strictly along the line;
  • check the operation of the blade, if it catches somewhere, then the system will be removed correctly, clean the installation site and again glued.

Sometimes the scotch tape is not glued to the cornice, but special fasteners with a magnet or hooks are included. Installation of such a model takes place according to the identical scheme described above.

The video clearly demonstrated that even a child and a woman can glue the blinds on the tape.

Where to install

Installation of horizontal blinds is mainly carried out on:

  • sash windows;
  • upper frame profile;
  • on the upper slope of the opening;
  • less often on the pier, if the design features of the opening or the design of the room require it.

Installation of vertical blinds is not possible for technical reasons on the sash or window frame, they are usually mounted on:

  • upper piers;
  • ceiling;
  • horizontal slope of the window, if its width allows.

Installation Features

Compact and lightweight horizontal blinds can be fixed without drilling. To do this, use special brackets made of metal or plastic, as well as double-sided tape.

All models that need to be installed on a slope, in a wall or on the ceiling, are fixed on special brackets that are attached to the surface with screws or dowels.

In order not to redo the work, installing the blinds with your own hands, it is better to check and recheck the geometry once again, how the canvas will go, whether the cornice is skewed

Necessary materials and tools

Now consider mounting on self-tapping screws. This is a much more universal option, which allows you to hang almost any model in any way of fastening (on the ceiling, in the opening or on the walls).

First of all, it is worth paying attention to the quality of the fasteners attached to the blinds in the kit. Sometimes manufacturers (especially this statement applies to cheap models made in China) put too short and thin screws of low-quality steel into the kit

If you plan to mount heavy structures to the ceiling, it may be worth purchasing something more reliable.

Also for work you will need:

  • Measuring tool: pencil, ruler with a bubble level, tape measure.
  • Drill. A drill for a drill is usually used No. 6.
  • Dowel and hammer.
  • Mounting brackets (usually included with the product).
  • Scissors.
  • Screwdriver.

Having prepared a set of tools for work, you can proceed.

Installation of horizontal structures

In order to easily install horizontal products on plastic windows, you need to prepare a screwdriver and a screwdriver in advance. In this case, the upper part of the product should be put on the brackets. Mark in advance the places where you will need to screw the screws. Try to keep the fasteners as small as possible, of course, without compromising the reliability of the fix.

After all measurements, remove the brackets, and using a screwdriver, screw the parts sequentially into the marked places. It is necessary to check whether all the clamps hold, whether they sag under the weight of the structure. Fabric blinds are fixed without screws. They are also fixed with brackets, but they are glued to the profile.

Vertical blinds are installed in a similar way. If mounting to the ceiling or slopes is selected, then special rails are installed first. This is also done with screws. Then everything goes according to the usual plan with brackets. But if you fasten the blinds on the wall, then first you need to install a special curtain rod. Also, unlike horizontal models, vertical products must also be assembled. But they are sold complete with instructions, so you can complete the task without any effort.

First, collect all the runners, turn them right side towards you. Then the slats are inserted into the runners. You will understand that the parts are clicked together. It guarantees a tight bond. Special weights are inserted into the lower part of the lamellas, fixed by a chain. You can test the blinds and their operation right on the floor, before mounting on the wall. Otherwise, you will have to remove them again and fix the lamellas better. The vertical blinds mechanism should work smoothly and without any jerks.

Installing blinds on windows is not such a difficult process, it can be done independently. There are various mounting methods for different types of curtains and each of them has its own installation nuances.

Mounting methods

There are three types of blinds fastening: to the wall, to the ceiling, directly to the frame, and two ways - with and without drilling. The universal basis of any fastening is a cornice, which is attached in various ways to a wall, frame or ceiling.

With drilling

Fastening is carried out using self-tapping screws and brackets, on which a cornice, fishing line is installed. Additionally, you will need a pencil, ruler, drill, screwdriver.

First you need to make a markup in those places where the brackets will be located. For reliability and accuracy, it is necessary to drill holes for the clips in the marked places. Then, applying the brackets in turn to the PVC frame, fix them on the marking with a screwdriver. Next, a cornice is installed and the whole structure is assembled.

No drilling

If in the future it is planned to replace blinds or other window decoration options, it is not recommended to damage the plastic windows. The holes from the self-tapping screws will remain in the frame forever and significantly spoil the appearance of the windows. In this case, it is easier to turn to a method that does not require drilling.

In this case, the brackets are attached in two ways:

  • for the upper part of the PVC profile on the opening sashes (you can just hang it like a hook);
  • double sided tapethat can be glued without fear of leaving marks.

Mounting blinds on the balcony requires a special approach. The balcony structure plays an important role here. The type of glazing determines the choice of certain blinds and the method of their attachment.

In general, almost all options are available for balconies. In this case, special attention should be paid to the type of blinds, since not all of them are universal for different types of windows.

For example, horizontal blinds are not suitable for a balcony with sliding windows, as they can deform during operation or from strong winds.

The nuances of installing different types of blinds

Horizontal

A light-shielding structure with a horizontal arrangement of lamellas, which has become familiar, almost classical for window decoration. Benefits:

  • Compactness.Installed directly on the window, leaving the sill free. This saves space and allows you to place greenery on the window in favorable conditions.
  • Lightweight construction.
  • Strength and rigidity of the lamellas, preventing deformation.
  • Fire safety.

  • Simple control mechanism.
  • Special coating or impregnation against dust, dirt, odors and grease.
  • Resistance to humidity and temperature changes.
  • Various materials for making slats: wood, plastic, aluminum, less often fabric.
  • Easy installation.
  • Affordable price.

Some disadvantages are worth mentioning:

  • When mounted on a frame, the angle of inclination is limited window folds when opening.
  • The lamellas emit a characteristic knock or ringing in the wind. To avoid this, it is necessary to purchase lower fasteners, which are not included in the kit and quickly become unusable.
  • The design must be repaired in case of severe deformation of several slats, but it will cost like new blinds.
  • Not suitable for balconies and loggias with sliding windows.

Vertical

The blinds, as the name implies, are a simple and convenient light-shielding structure consisting of longitudinal vertical plates.

They differ from horizontal ones:

  • More aesthetic appearance. Horizontal blinds are more functional, while vertical ones are decorative.
  • The ability to cover a large area with one cornice. Horizontal blinds, as a rule, consist of narrow lamellas and are designed for minimalistic decor of small windows. Vertical models are available in different widths and easily cover large windows, arches and doorways.
  • Variety of materials. They can be made of wood fibers, wood, aluminum, bamboo, plastic, woven and non-woven fabric, mirror, blackout, filament. The abundance of materials provides another advantage - the variability of colors and textures.
  • Modern and original window decorationwhich opens up more possibilities for design.

  • Simplicity of control mechanisms. Both mechanical and electrical are possible.
  • Possibility to place photo printing on the "curtains" due to the larger surface and better material characteristics.
  • Practicality. Larger lamellas are easier to wipe if necessary, which occurs infrequently. If, in the case of severe pollution, for example, in a children's room, the lamellas still need to be subjected to hygiene procedures, this will not take much time - they can be washed by hand and in a washing machine.
  • Ability to install on custom windows(triangle, trapezoid, arch, bay window).
  • The structure is subject to repair. To replace one or another part, you do not need to call a master, the repair is simple enough to do it yourself. You can replace the lamellae one at a time without dismantling the entire structure.

Roll

Roller blinds, roller shutters are solid canvases, usually from textiles, but other materials are also possible, which roll upwards like horizontal blinds.

The height can be adjusted by fixing the curtain with a weighting agent on the lower strip of the canvas.

There are different types of shutters: with an open drum (for attaching directly to the window) and with a decorative cornice; “Mini” for installation on each frame separately and “roll-cassette” for closing the entire window.

There is an opinion that roller blinds are the most budgetary and practical option for window decoration, but this is not entirely true.

Of course, roller shutters have their advantages: a variety of natural and synthetic fabrics, colors and patterns, ease of care (wet cleaning is allowed) and operation, the ability to fix the curtain at the desired height, special impregnations against dust, moisture, high temperatures and glare, compatibility with other types of curtains.

A roller blind is convenient, if necessary, to hide the room from the sun, to decorate the window with beautiful tulle so that from the street you cannot see what is happening inside.

But with so many advantages, curtains also have significant disadvantages:

  • The budget price is a misconception. Yes, by itself, a medium-sized curtain made of a common material will be inexpensive, but it will look boring. In order for the window decoration to be complete, it is necessary to think over additional decor, and this significantly increases the cost.
  • Roller blinds in the bedroom, study and rooms with tall windows need to be electrically controlled. Electrically driven structures are expensive, and some manufacturers also produce noise.

  • It is not possible to custom-made curtains from certain textiles. You can choose only specific products of a certain brand, since the set of fabrics for the production of roller blinds is very limited: translucent, textured, reflective, perforated, blackout.
  • The maximum width of the roller blind - 280-300 cm, that is, covering a large area with one cornice, for example, a panoramic window or a balcony will not work.
  • There may be problems with installation not on the wall, but in the window opening, since the reel is wider in width than the curtain itself. There will inevitably be gaps on the sides of the window openings. Ceiling or wall mounting preferred.

Pleated

This type of blinds is similar at the same time both to horizontal, and to rolled curtains. The design consists of a control mechanism (chain or electric drive), weighting materials, pleated fabric, which resembles accordion furs. The range of materials, colors and textures is very diverse.

Features:

  • Closed from top to bottom, like classic canvases, from bottom to top or from both sides at the same time. In this case, the degree of density of the "accordion" can be adjusted, thus closing either the upper, or the lower, or the central part of the window.
  • Suitable for curtainingwindows of irregular shape.
  • The optimal solution for attic, attic, skylight and sloped windows.
  • “Opening”, the canvas compactly folds and hides inside the cornice.

  • Convenient for installation on all types of windows and double-glazed windows.
  • Various mounting methods and control mechanisms (manual and electric).
  • Woven fabric is washable.
  • The curtain can be made of two types of fabric at the same time, which makes it possible to adjust the degree of transparency, darkness, protection from the sun.
  • Easy assembly you can do it yourself.

Kinds

  • Classic. In appearance, they are most similar to horizontal blinds, however, they can also be vertical. Made of fabric, paper or plastic. Designed to darken the room, protect from heating by sunlight, zoning the interior of the room.

  • Inclined. A variety of pleats especially for windows that are angled in the attic or ceiling. Their peculiarity is in a specific assembly system that does not allow a canvas of any material to sag, being at an angle. Mostly inclined models are available with electronic control.

  • Corrugated. This type is vertical and horizontal double pleating. As a result, the folds look smoother, tighter and tighter. Corrugation made of plastic and paper in this design absorbs a significant part of the heat and protects from bright light.

  • Arched. The most flexible canvases that take any form, like a paper fan. A good solution for rooms with non-standard windows (arches, trapeziums, triangles, beveled windows).

  • "Day Night". The canvas of such blinds consists of two layers of fabric: lightweight, light-transmitting fabric for daytime use and dense, dark for protection from the bright sun during the day and prying eyes in the evening.

Cassette

Such systems involve either the use of horizontal slats or a solid sheet, but are not horizontal blinds or roller blinds.

They differ in the types of cassettes (angular, round, flat), controls (various types of mechanical and remote), materials used (plastic, textiles, bamboo, aluminum).

Their main feature is the design, the special structure of which makes it possible to fix the blinds at a minimum distance from the window glass. This prevents deformation, sagging, the appearance of folds and irregularities, completely opens the window sill.

Benefits:

  • Compactness. Cassette blinds occupy a minimum of space, leaving the owners the opportunity to show imagination and organize additional window decor or leave the window sill with a functional surface.
  • Simple and intuitive type of control.
  • Long service life. Special impregnation protects the canvases from dust, grease, dirt, moisture, abrasion.
  • Ease of hygiene procedures. Cassette systems require little maintenance. Their small surface area is enough to wipe with a damp sponge and soapy water every few months.

  • A variety of designs for an interior in any style.
  • The tight fit of the canvas to the glass surface protects equally well from heat and cold.
  • The ability to mount the system yourself.
  • A variety of materials - from light window decoration to total blackout protection.
  • The ability to combine blinds with curtains, tulle, lambrequin.

Measurements and tools

The final result also depends on how correctly the measurements are taken. Even expensive beautiful models will not look good on the window if there are gaps in the opening or the edges of the lamellas will constantly bulge against the wall.

It is important to pay attention to the following points:

  • For the most accurate indicators a steel tape measure and metal screws are used.
  • It is impossible to round the received figures, the accuracy must be kept to the millimeters.
  • When ordering blinds the width parameter is specified first, length - the second.
  • Not a single standard window opening has absolutely perfect geometric shapes., therefore, measurements up and breadth must be made at least at two points.

Horizontal

If you plan to attach blinds to the movable half of the window, you will need to measure the gap between the glazing beads and add at least 30 mm, which will prevent gaps in the structure. The height of the blinds is equal to the height of the window sash. To install the window inside the opening, measurements are required at three points in height and width, since the openings are not always absolutely proportional.

The width is identical to the wide side of the glass plus the thickness of the rubber band. The length is identical to the height of the window (including elastic bands) with a margin of 1 cm. To install the cornice, an additional 30-40 cm will be required to the slopes and loops. Control chain - 2/3 of the window height. When choosing to fix the cornice on the wall, the width parameter increases by 10 cm, the height is measured arbitrarily from the point of attachment of the brackets to the floor.

Vertical

When installing in the window opening, you need to determine the width at the top of the arch and subtract 20 mm. To determine the height, compare the height of the left and right sides of the arch, subtract 1 cm from the smaller value. For wall mounting, at least 10 cm must be added to the wide side of the slope.The length of the lamellas can be any, but it is recommended to retreat 2 cm from the edge of the blinds to the floor.Ceiling installation means determining the height (to the floor or window sill) minus 2 cm, it is recommended to increase the width of the arch 100+ mm.

Roll

To mount the canvases to the wall, only one measurement is required - from the edge of the window sill to the markings for the brackets, and the width can be up to 300 cm.In the arch of the window, roller blinds are mounted after measuring the width, from which you need to subtract 4 centimeters, and the length of the canvas is equal to the height of the window minus 15 mm

Pleated blinds, likewise, do not require a professional approach in taking measurements and installation.

How to hang yourself on the wall?

Installation work on the design of the window requires certain skills and experience, but if you want to try it yourself, you need to consider some of the nuances and features in this work. Installation of blinds begins long before preparation of a working surface and a set of tools.

The first step in this process is a balanced decision about the type and variety of blinds, material, color and texture, depending on the functionality of the room.

So, it’s more advisable to choose vertical blinds for the living room that let in light, for the bedroom - automatic roller blinds with electric drive made of blackout fabric, and for the kitchen, where cooking smells and food products are constantly floating, plastic blinds that do not absorb grease and dirt.

The second important point is correct markup. A lot depends on it, including how easy the installation process will be.

If all the features of the architecture of window openings are taken into account by specialists when ordering blinds from them, everything will go easily and smoothly without the help of professional installers. It is also important to consider whether it will be possible to open the window after installation, how the light-protective devices will work, and whether there is a risk of their deformation.

Installation of blinds should be carried out exactly with the markup and subsequent verification of the functionality of the design. The most important point here is the choice between fastening - with or without drilling. It is also necessary to provide for the type of control.

For low windows, one of the types of mechanical control is an excellent solution. Magnetic, automatic (electric) control with an electric drive is suitable for dormer and sloped windows, windows in the bedroom.

Ceiling mounting instructions

  • First of all, you need to mount the blinds, assemble the brackets and install them on the reel.Then this structure must be fixed to the ceiling in order to mark out for fastening.

  • The second step is to attach the brackets to the adhesive tape at the top of the frame and the tensioner for the string at the bottom.Pre-attaching them with a tape is not necessary, but it is desirable to eliminate problems with the subsequent drilling of holes for screws. After installing the guide string, the curtain itself is mounted into the mechanisms.

What is the best way to install motorized automatic window blinds?

Automatic blinds are the most convenient way to decorate a window for self-execution.

They are attached in three ways: to the ceiling, to the frame with drilling, to the frame without drilling. In all cases, the fastener is a cornice with or without a decorative facade.

The brackets on which the structure is held are fastened with self-tapping screws, hung or glued to double-sided tape.

Special adhesive tape, despite its seeming impracticality, is fixed very firmly, therefore it is important to correctly apply the markings for installing the brackets. After they are glued, moving them will be very problematic.

Installation Order:

  • Preparation of tools.You will need a ladder, a set of self-tapping screws from the kit, a building level and drawing accessories, a drill, a screwdriver.
  • Drawing a pencil marking for installation of brackets.For reliable fixation of fasteners, it is recommended at this stage to drill holes for screws.
  • Bracket mounting suitable method (with or without drilling).
  • Mounting the cornice.
  • Installation of slats.To do this, pull the control cord on which the lamella mounts are located so that they snap into position. Then fix all the slats on the hooks of the fasteners.

How to attach cassette tape yourself?

You can also install cassette blinds yourself. Before installation, you must read the instructions, make sure that you are fully equipped, prepare all the necessary tools: a screwdriver, drawing tools, a screwdriver, a drill, cotton pads or a small piece of cloth, a degreaser.

When everything you need is collected, you can proceed to the first stage - degreasing the glazing beads. Then you need to remove the side covers of the box, lift it to the top of the frame, focusing on the guide projections, drill the holes for the fasteners, and fix with screws.

You can use a screwdriver for this purpose, or you can perform the process manually with a Phillips screwdriver.

When the box is installed, you need to fix the covers on the sides. After this, the guide rails can be glued to the defatted frame. The guides should be a few centimeters below the glazing bead angle.

We hang aluminum blinds on sliding windows

For installation, you will need a set of tools: a wire, a drill, a cross-section screwdriver, a screwdriver, drawing accessories.

The instruction for installing blinds on sliding windows contains a list of items that is performed step by step:

  • Draw a marking line for installing the brackets.It should take into account the distance between the latches and the control mechanism, between the brackets (from 60 cm) and to the extreme sections on the louvre strip (25 cm). If the blinds are wide and heavy, it is recommended to use intermediate fasteners.
  • Drill on the surface to which you plan to attach the brackets, holes for installing dowels.On plastic windows, it is possible to use blinds without drilling.
  • Mounting profile.
  • Fixing the upper louver bar on the brackets.It is important to remember that the blinds are already assembled at this stage.

Dealing with aluminum options on inclines requires a little more effort and dexterity.

How to fix the bottom?

The easiest and most affordable way to do it yourself is mounting without drilling using double-sided adhesive tape. Suitable for swing-out mechanisms on windows.

Performed step by step:

  • Degreasing parts of the frame and fastenerswhich will be connected by duct tape.
  • Markupfastening roller shutters.
  • Mounting.The chain mechanism can be installed from any convenient side.
  • Assemblybrackets.
  • Bracket attachment markings.To do this, you need to install them on the assembled roller blind, install on the window without mounting, mark with a pencil the places for adhesive tape, remove the curtain.
  • Applying adhesive tapeon the rear surface of the brackets, window mounting.
  • Installation of a guiding string against sagging. It is attached to the “ear” of the upper bracket and the weighting of the curtain; at the bottom it is fixed in the tensioner, which is mounted on the frame.

How blinds are attached to plastic windows, to self-tapping screws and to tape

Hello. This time you will learn how to fix the blinds to plastic windows. The topic of the article is interesting in that plastic or aluminum blinds are replacing less practical fabric curtains everywhere. Therefore, if you decide to make the windows in your apartment more modern and easier to use, the following photo reports on the installation performed are exactly what you need.

Actual mounting methods

Blinds are attached to a plastic window in two ways:

  • With the use of self-tapping screws - the PVC profile will be drilled, and therefore, when dismantling the blinds, holes will remain that will not be easy to cover;
  • Without the use of self-tapping screws - the PVC profile will be intact and this is good, but the design installed on top of the profile will be held less firmly in comparison with analogues fixed on the self-tapping screws.

I do not know which horizontal blinds you have chosen, and therefore I will tell you about the installation of each of the listed types separately and in detail.

Self-tapping

The blinds include the following:

  • The main structure is made of 2 lamellas. (one for each leaf);
  • Fasteners for the upper part of 2 pieces per leaf;
  • Fasteners for the bottom of 2 pieces per leaf;
  • 4 screws with a length of 20 mm in an amount of 4 pcs. on each leaf.

DIY installation instructions are as follows:

  • Unpack the blinds and unwind the adjusting cord;

  • Remove the control bar (cane);

  • We attach the upper fasteners to the upper profile of the device so that the fasteners do not interfere with the operation of the mechanisms located inside the profile;

  • Next, we dissolve the slats so that they take the position characteristic of open blinds;
  • We apply the upper profile to the window so that the lower bar is located slightly below the glazing bead on the frame, that is, so that the glass is completely covered;

  • Mark the location of the fasteners on the window frame;

When marking, I recommend using a spirit level so that the upper bar is located exactly along the horizon and does not have distortions. If the window was initially installed with a skew, we do the marking not according to the spirit level, but taking into account the location of the wings.

  • According to a pre-made markup, we install fasteners on the screws;

The surface of the PVC profile is smooth, and therefore it will most likely be difficult to screw the self-tapping screw along the mark. Therefore, before screwing a screw, we drill holes with a diameter of 2 mm in the profile, which is 1 mm less than the diameter of the screws. Using pre-made holes to screw in a screw will not be difficult.

  • After the fasteners are installed, we apply the upper bar to them and click it with a little effort;

  • From the outside, we finally fix the structure with plugs, which are put on the holders until a characteristic click appears;
  • We lower the blinds so that the lower lamella is located in the lowest position;
  • We make markings for the lower mounts so that they are located at the level of the ends of the lower bar;

  • We install fasteners on self-tapping screws;
  • We click the lower bar into the mounts;
  • We install an adjustment bar on the original mount;

  • We check the operability of the installed blinds by opening and closing the gap between the slats.

Operation and maintenance

So we found out how to attach blinds to plastic windows on self-tapping screws... Among the recommendations for the use and maintenance of installed structures, I note the following:

  • We scroll the adjusting bar around its axis smoothly, since the hook with which it is attached to the mechanism is quite fragile;
  • In order to wash the window, we click off the bottom lamella and collect the blinds up, this is enough to wipe the entire glass;
  • I recommend removing dust from the lamellas with a “peacock tail” panicle;
  • I recommend that immediately after the dust is removed, apply an antistatic spray to the lamellas, any one of your choice.

Installation without screws

Now I'll tell you how to fix plastic blinds on modern double-glazed windows without using self-tapping screws.

In what case can fasteners without drilling be relevant? There are many such cases, for example, the use of rented housing, where, according to the terms of the contract, it is impossible to spoil the elements of the entourage.

To perform installation work, you will need a set of ordinary horizontal blinds with light plastic lamellas, double-sided tape and ordinary scissors.

The instructions for attaching blinds to plastic windows without using self-tapping screws are as follows:

  • Unpack the set of blinds;
  • Disconnect the adjustment bar from the main unit so that it does not interfere with the installation later;
  • We lay the main block with the wrong side up;
  • Unwind double-sided tape to the length of the body;

  • Remove the protective film on one side of the tape and on the back of the block, as shown in the photo;

We select double-sided tape so that the width of the tape is equal to the width of the blinds block. We glue the adhesive tape so that it is flush with the walls of the block. In addition, carefully smooth the glued tape from the inside out, so that it adheres evenly over the entire surface.

  • We apply the blinds to the window and determine their position on the top of the window sash;
  • Having determined the location, we make marks on the profile that correspond to the ends of the block;

  • Next, remove the remaining protective strip from the double-sided tape and glue the block according to the previously made marks to the profile;

  • We install the previously removed adjusting bar and on this the installation can be considered complete.

How firm will the blinds hold when glued to the double-sided tape?

The actual operation of the blinds installed on scotch tape shows that the structure lasted for 1.5 years without any changes, that is, it did not warp or fall. I think that the situation will not change during the next two or three years.

When installing the blinds block, only the upper part is glued to the tape, while the lower bar is not fixed. This practically does not affect the operation of the device, except that when the sash is opened towards itself, the lower part of the blinds will move forward and touch the indoor flowers on the windowsill.

I told my friends about this installation method. They told me that the method is not bad, but they will not use it, since adhesive tape after removal will leave characteristic traces that are difficult to remove. Is it really?

Traces will remain, but it will be easy to remove any glue residue from the frame. It is enough to moisten the rag with sunflower oil and wipe the plastic surface and the glue spots will disappear by themselves. For more effective removal of stains from adhesive tape, wet the rag not with sunflower oil, but

There are twelve types of blinds. Each of them has its own distinctive characteristics. Initially, all blinds are usually divided into vertical and horizontal.

Horizontal blinds are more popular for decorating a home space than a public one. This is due to the fact that they take up less space than vertical ones. The structure is not massive, it is mounted with or without drilling. Horizontal models are made of thin log cabins: cherries, beech, oak, yew, metal alloys, fabric and bamboo.

Vertical blinds are more common in the design of spacious offices, hospital rooms, classrooms, rooms with large panoramic windows. They are made from French jacquard, linen, polyester and thin plastic. Fabrics are pre-treated with special dust-repellent, antistatic agents. They are easy to care for, clean from dust, which is very important for rooms with a high degree of traffic.

Depending on the type of construction, finishing materials, sizes and appearance, choose the installation option. There are two solutions, either drilling or not. Massive types of blinds made of wood or metal alloys are fastened only with a drill, screws and brackets. Lightweight roller blinds, mini system, blinds, bamboo can be mounted on special L-shaped brackets or mounting tape. Let's take a closer look at the options for hanging blinds.

How to make a measurement for fasteners

To make a measurement for a horizontal structure, it is necessary to measure the length and width of the glass unit. When installing the model, add +1 cm to the length, and +5 to the width.

The installation of horizontal slats on the sash involves the following actions:

  1. We measure the width of the window opening in several places.
  2. We make a mark at the widest point.
  3. Add one centimeter to the width.
  4. We measure the height.
  5. We add four centimeters to the height.

Vertical structures are attached directly to the glass unit, wall, ceiling. In order for the lamellas to evenly cover the entire window area, the area on the sides must exceed 8 centimeters. Thus, the glass unit looks harmonious. When installing on an opening or to the ceiling, add the area from the ceiling to the window or from the opening to the window to the height.

Installation instructions for vertical blinds

How to properly hang vertical blinds

Before starting the installation, make sure that all structural parts are in stock.

  1. Cornice, fasteners (brackets).
  2. Vertical slats.
  3. Control unit, electric drive (if it is built-in).
  4. Clothespins for lamellas.
  5. Swivel mechanism.
  6. Slat runners.
  7. A thread of control with which the mechanism turns.

Next, strictly according to the markings of the markings, make holes. If installation occurs on a double-glazed window, work with a drill extremely carefully. Make the required number of holes, insert the fasteners. After it is necessary to establish a cornice with runners. Then attach the lamellas. Pull the adjusting thread and fasten it with a weight. Check the rotation of the lamellas. Vertical blinds, with the exception of woven fabrics, are usually installed by drilling.

How to properly hang horizontal blinds

Make markings for fasteners at a distance of 5-7 cm from the glass. Then use a drill to drill small holes. We install the brackets and attach the cornice to them. A characteristic click is an indication of correct installation. Lower the blinds and install the lower clips. To do this, do the marking and the self-tapping screw with a lock, screw in the bottom or side of the window sash, after which we check the fixed structure. Installation of blinds without drilling

There are several options for fastening without drilling. They are suitable for installing lightweight construction options.

  • Construction / assembly adhesive tape.
  • Special magnets.
  • L-shaped brackets (they are attached to the opening doors of the double-glazed windows).

With the help of mounting tape, the Rolshtor box, mini or woven roller shutter systems can be easily fixed to the double-glazed window. To do this, glue the double-sided tape to the structure, which must then be pressed against the window. Before attaching the cornice to the tape, be sure to degrease the window surface! Make sure that the curtain is evenly attached. Do not mount the structure on a cold frame. The adhesive tape will lose its properties due to the cold surface. Make your markup ahead of time.

L-shaped brackets are attached only to the opening casement windows. The advantage of installation on an L-shaped bracket is that there is no need to make holes in the glass unit. You can not worry about the depressurization of the window.
