Do-it-yourself xylophone made of wood. DIY musical instruments: how and what to make. Children's musical instruments with their own hands. Where to find source material for crafts

You can make a wooden xylophone with your own hands. In total, it will cost us only 400-500 rubles, which must be spent on paper clips, nails, ropes and other materials at hand.

Step 1: Measurements

A total of 9 pieces of wood are required for 9 notes. The longest is 91 cm. Each subsequent bar should be 5 cm smaller than the previous one. We get: 91 cm, 86 cm, 81 cm, 76 cm, 71 cm, 66 cm, 61 cm, 56 cm, 51 cm.

We cut out the bars according to these dimensions and clean them with sandpaper.

Step 2: assembly

Mark the middle of each "note" with a marker. For a 51 cm bar, put 2 marks, 5 cm higher and lower from the center. In these places, we must insert the rope and attach it with nails or paper clips. For a 56 cm bar, mark 7.6 cm from the center (the difference is 7.6-5 \u003d 2.6 cm). We do the same for the rest of the "notes", adding 2.6 cm to the previous figure.

The distance between the bars should be 1.3 cm.

Step 3: play

Find a suitable place where you can hang the xylophone and pull tightly on the rope with the "notes". Note that the tilt angle of a suspended instrument affects its sound.

This musical instrument is familiar to many of us since childhood. This way you can please your own children. It is not necessary to buy it at all, especially if you are a lover of homemade products. You can try your own hand and get, in the end, a metallophone by following the step-by-step instructions.

Materials

To make a metallophone with your own hands, you will need:

  • a wooden block measuring 32 x 2 x 1.5 cm;
  • a wooden block measuring 60 x 2 x 3.5 cm;
  • a piece of metal 200 x 3 x 0.4 cm;
  • self-tapping screws 16 x 3 mm;
  • washers;
  • four screws 5 cm each;
  • wood varnish with a glossy effect.

Step 1... From a piece of metal, you will need to cut 8 pieces of different sizes. In shape, they are trapeziums. The maximum length of the first element is 15 cm, the minimum is 10 cm. Take this into account when cutting. Reduce each part by 1 - 2 cm. After the metal components are ready, drill holes for fasteners in them and grind the side parts and the entire surface as a whole.

For the convenience of work, the templates of parts can be prepared and transferred to the metal in advance.

Step 2... Saw each piece of wood into two pieces. As a result, you should have two elements of 30 cm each and two more lengths 15 and 17 cm.

Step 3... Using self-tapping screws, screw the metal parts to two 30 cm wooden blocks.

Step 4... Attach the transverse pieces of wood with large screws to the two side pieces of wood.

Step 5... Unscrew all screws and paint the metal parts as desired. Let the paint dry thoroughly.

Step 6... Attach the painted parts of the metallophone back to the wooden base of the musical instrument, observing the sequence: wooden base, flat washer, metal part, self-tapping screw.

A huge contribution to the development of children is being made within the walls of the kindergarten. And an important component of it is music. In music lessons, preschoolers learn to recognize sounds, sing and dance, and learn about new musical instruments. Returning to the group, they usually go about their business: draw, play with dolls or cars, assemble pyramids or constructors. But why not make your own musical instruments for kindergarten? Children will be able to play in a real instrumental ensemble, and at the same time develop their own.

A little theory about homemade musical instruments

The process of making musical instruments with your own hands is quite painstaking and sometimes requires materials that are not quite usual for a kindergarten: plastic bottles, cans, rubber bands for money, buttons, and so on. Involve your parents - for sure, every house has such things that are no longer needed. Explain that the guys will develop creatively in the process of needlework and then show off their inventions at the next matinee.

Let's note the main points that are worth considering:

  • The sounds reproduced by home-made musical instruments most often have nothing to do with those given by real ones. Your task is to show that you can extract different sounds from the available means. You will improvise. And it would not hurt to convey the appearance of real instruments: decor, shape, accessories like a shoulder strap.
  • Improvised toys often break. DIY musical instruments for kindergarten are no exception. Immediately tell the children about the fragility of the products, their special value for your group (after all, they will remain as a memory of each of the kindergarten pupils).
  • All materials must be hypoallergenic and safe.
  • Try to come up with tools that your child could make on their own, especially when it comes to the preparatory group. It is also better to define the concept initially: it will be the same products for each child, or preschoolers will make tools in groups with their own hands - each group has its own instrument.

Playing and playing music, even in this form, will benefit children. Perhaps a real talent will open up in some of them, or a desire to enter after kindergarten will wake up and already there seriously engage in their hobby.

DIY musical instruments for kindergarten

Here are some small master classes on creating interesting and unique musical instruments. You will see, all ingenious is very simple.

Drum

Any metal or plastic can that is hollow inside can become a drum. In kindergarten, there are hardly any. But parents can be asked to bring old plastic jars of mayonnaise, jam or barbecue. For a variety of sounds, you can take cans of different sizes and wall thicknesses.

Absolutely any sticks are also suitable. It is important that the tree (if you have chosen it) cannot injure the hands of children, that is, it should be covered with a special varnish. For example, sticks used in Japanese cuisine can play this role.

Wooden xylophone

Do-it-yourself musical instruments for kindergarten are made from a variety of materials! If there is an extra plinth, then you can even make a tool out of it. It is enough to cut it into equal lengths of 10-15 cm and screw it loosely to the base with the screws. The base must be processed so that the children do not get splinters. Plinth pieces are placed in the same position under each other.

A child, to extract sound from this do-it-yourself musical instrument, holds any wooden stick from top to bottom. The more solid the stick, the louder and richer the sound will be produced.

Gusli

The base can be a shoe box, in the lid of which a circle is carefully cut out slightly with a shift from the center. Elastic bands for money are wrapped around it or screwed so that all "strings" pass over the hole. So that the rubber bands do not lie on the surface and can make a sound, they must be supported with something.

A pencil can be used as a support. However, if you want to raise the "strings" higher, then it is better to make a triangular structure with your own hands, because, as you know, it is the most reliable. Now you can play.

Kugicle

This wind instrument is made from ordinary tubes, which are usually offered to children for drinks. It is better not to take those tubes that are attached to juices, since they are small and have a spring for bending in the most inappropriate place. And so, several tubes of the same diameter are taken (they can be replaced with anything: "cases" from pens, sticks from balloons, etc.).

Further, from one of the edges, the second tube is sawn off from the bottom by 1-1.5 cm. The third tube is sawn off at twice the distance. Each subsequent one is similarly sawn off so that a kind of uniform ladder is obtained. Then a wide scotch tape is taken, and tubes are placed on it exactly along the edge. Then you need to glue it with tape on the back.

If your musical instrument turns out to be large, then it is better to first glue 2-3 tubes separately with small scotch tape, and only then all together. The lower holes of a musical instrument with your own hands for kindergarten must be closed. This can be done with plasticine, cut off pieces of an eraser, or even chewing gum.

Analog of a triangle

To recreate the subtle sound from the contact of a metal stick with another metal object suspended in the air, you can take an idea from this musical instrument. For manufacturing, you will need 2 metal tubes, one of which will be hung on any improvised handle by strong strings. Another child will hit and make a pleasant sound.

Maracas

For making maracas with your own hands for a kindergarten, any hollow oblong container that can be filled with granules, cereals or larger objects can be suitable. The easiest option is to take a simple pencil, poke it through a plastic Kinder Surprise egg and secure it. Put peas or rice inside, depending on the desired output sound.

Another option is 0.5 ml plastic bottles. You can put unnecessary buttons or the same groats inside. Of course, to make the musical instrument look realistic, the bottles should be painted, preferably with acrylic paint, to be sure. You can do another thing with filled plastic eggs: take small plastic spoons and attach them on both sides so that the ends of the base touch. In principle, spoons can be put on glue, but for beauty they can be pasted over with colored tape around the perimeter.

Those musical instruments that children make for kindergarten with their own hands will allow them to learn to improvise with sounds, to understand the world through play. After all, even in the store, children are more attracted by those toys that are capable of making some sounds, words, and glowing. Remember that almost everything that surrounds us is capable of becoming a musical instrument.

For example, let's take a regular, empty cardboard box. It is enough to knock on it with your hands or chopsticks - and this is a drum. Anything that can be filled with something and moved from side to side is a potential maraca. Do-it-yourself musical instruments for kindergarten are a potential source of individual sounds for staging fairy tales. Loud knock - a thunderclap or the roar of a wild beast. Rustling paper is the wind blowing or autumn leaves falling. Music around us.

With your own hands. Of course, a master unprepared for this type of activity will not be able to make a violin or a piano without special training, materials, devices at home. And this is a fact that should be accepted unconditionally. But how to make fairly simple musical instruments with your own hands - our article will tell those who are interested.

Where to find source material for crafts

Any object from which you can extract sound is musical. And this is practically everything that surrounds us! If you closely follow the one-year-old babies, it will become clear: the back of an iron bed, when hit with a spoon, emits a melodic ringing, similar to the sound of a metallophone. And if you knock wooden spoons on the table and chairs, you get an amazing likeness

It turns out that we are surrounded by solid musical instruments! With your own hands you only need to decorate them in the right way, collect them in one place and put the "musician" next to them.

Gift to the drummer

For example, beautiful is obtained from a set of pots, lids and wooden sticks. As the latter, pencils, wooden spoons, brushes are suitable. You can also carve special sticks for a beginner drummer out of wood.

As you can see from the photo, it is quite simple to make similar ones with your own hands. For beauty, you can even come up with a special emblem and decorate every item with it. For "plates", metal lids mounted on a stand are suitable. By the way, metal buckets, mugs, bowls, basins will coexist wonderfully next to the pots. The main thing in this business is to choose containers of various sizes that are capable of producing different sounds.

Tool for "spoons"

Everyone knows such a Russian as a spoon. Even solo numbers are practiced, where performers manage to perform quite interesting compositions.

You can expand the capabilities of spoon musicians by creating a whole installation for them. You will need a wooden matryoshka for her. By arranging them in increasing volume, you can get an excellent installation tool.

Guiro do it yourself

Skilled wood craftsmen can make quite professional musical instruments. DIY ratchets are also of interest to musicians today.

Initially, guiro was made from the fruit of the gourd tree, on which notches were made. Its place of origin is considered to be Latin America. Modern guiro are do-it-yourself musical instruments from solid wood with notches, which should be driven with a scraper called "pua". The musician thus produces interesting chirping sounds, accompanying singing or performing his part in the orchestra.

Today, such musical instruments appear, made by hand from metal or plastic tubes. In Russia, the analogue of guiro were ratchets made of wooden planks with notches.

Maracas, shakers - rattles

You can make musical noise instruments with your own hands from a variety of containers. For crafts, metal coffee jars, plastic yogurt bottles, kinder surprise egg boxes, wooden boxes and even inner cylinders for paper towels or toilet paper made of cardboard are suitable. Only the latter need to be glued at both ends so that you can put something there. A shaker is also made of two disposable cups, gluing them together with tape.

To create a sound effect, groats, sand, small pebbles, beads, shot, buttons are placed inside the container. You can attach handles to round containers, paint them with acrylics. Then you get very beautiful musical noise instruments, which you can build with your own hands from scrap materials.

Castanets

Children are very fond of making a variety of crafts together with adults. DIY musical instruments can also be made at home.

You can make castanets using two large buttons to which the loops are attached. These devices are put on the thumb and middle fingers. The sound of the castanets is thumped when they touch and a sound is produced.

Quite interesting crafts can be made from absolutely unnecessary things prepared for taking out into the trash. Do-it-yourself musical instruments are created by gluing the covers onto cardboard pieces, after which the blanks must be fastened together by folding them perpendicular to each other.

Tambourine

Often bells and bells are present in children's musical instruments that ring beautifully. You can hang them on an empty paper towel cylinder or around the edges of disposable plates that are stapled together. It is best to fold the latter asymmetrically.

Having painted brightly made instruments in this way, you can use them in a children's noise orchestra.

Whistles and pipes

It is easy and simple to make with your own hands that produce sounds when the performer blows in them. They are made from hollow stems of grass, twig bark, plastic handles, cocktail tubes. If the latter are cut diagonally at different lengths, then you can get whistles that emit a different sound.

Whistles are also obtained from beans, peas or acacia pods. In childhood, everyone at least once, but "played" such a musical instrument.

Craftsmen make pipes out of wood, cutting holes-holes in the hollow tubes. But this requires special skill. No less difficult - and just as interesting! - make a toy whistle out of clay or salt dough. Usually, a variant of the "Dymkovo" toy is used here. Although you can make a little thing by hiding a ready-made whistle inside. Having made several of these toys that emit sounds of different heights, you can even play some melodies on them.

You can make homemade musical instruments with your own hands from almost nothing. For example, a plastic bottle cap, on which a piece of rubber cut from a burst balloon is stretched, will become a fascinating toy for a child.

You can also use empty bubbles as a whistle. If you blow from top to bottom into the inlet, applying the container only to the lower lip and holding it vertically, you can make amazing sounds! Musicians change the tilt of the "instrument", the distance between the lips and the opening of the bubble, the force of blowing air, and various melodies are born.

"Litrophone", or "singing bottles"

Today, more and more performers come on the stage with such interesting instruments that you can only marvel! And from what only they do not make them! You can make it yourself, for example, from bottles or wine glasses, filling them with water.

Various heights of the sounds emitted are achieved due to the amount of liquid poured, the material for making the dishes, and the change in the volume of the container. The less water is poured, the thinner the sound. For beauty and convenience, the liquid is tinted.

Harp, or "musical hairbrush"

Taking an ordinary flat comb ("hedgehog" will not work), you need to cover the location of the teeth with foil or tissue paper. Blowing into this simple instrument can make funny rattling sounds.

Talented musicians from the stage perform various musical compositions, including classical ones. Especially interesting is this tool, made from a combs with different thicknesses of teeth.

The main theme of Oginsky's "Polonaise" or the melody of a folk song / hit comes out surprisingly similar to the original!

DIY guitar

This is truly amazing! But you can even make a guitar with your own hands from scrap materials, or simply from rubbish.

As a basis, they take closed cardboard boxes, empty flat plastic shampoo bottles. Of course, the sound of the instrument will depend on the material of the guitar frame and the size of the hole cut in it.

It's also important to get the right strings for your guitar. Most often, they take stationery or aviation rubber bands and pull them with different strengths.

So now you don't need to run to the children's toy store if the kid is capricious. After all, you can simply make a fascinating toy for him - a musical instrument that will become the most beloved and dear thing for the child.
