I share with you my personal "know-how", I have not seen this on the net.

This method of rusting is not at all costly and labor-consuming, when using it, there are no unpleasant odors, as well as no hazardous chemicals are used.

To tackle rusting, you don't need to run anywhere and look for anything, very ordinary objects from the everyday life of a person who loves to be creative are used.

The photo was specially made larger, tk. looking through MKs of other authors I often "break my eyes" to make out what is depicted there.

So, many are faced with the fact that to complete the image, some old rusty thing is needed, which is not at hand right now, there is no patience to order on the Internet. This is where my MK comes in handy.

Let's get started. Let's take a brand new shiny bells or any metal object (I want to note that it did not burn over other types of metal - you can be the first, mercilessly with three sandpaper or a nail file. This is what you should get.

Then we take the lid from the jar and glue the resulting "tails" to it, making sure that the length of our blank is shorter than the jar and the bells do not touch. The idea is that the metal shouldn't come into contact with anything inside except the string - this is for the best result.

Then we take the jar itself and pour iodine on the very bottom, close the lid, making sure that all the bells are inside and do not get mixed up.

And, we leave all this happiness alone for a day - two. The longer everything is in the jar, the darker the color will turn out.

As soon as the color suits - we open the jar, cut off the bells, let them dry - and that's it, you don't even need to rinse them, they don't get dirty.

Someone has been looking for and finding vintage "trophies" for a long time, while creative individuals prefer to create them with their own hands. From old things, lace, as well as fabrics with a suitable pattern, which was in fashion several decades ago.

What is vintage?

The word came to us from winemaking: this is the name for elite wines made in the years when grapes had excellent taste. The longer the wine is aged, the better, more valuable and more expensive it is. With regard to things, these are old household items that have lived a long life and are well preserved. In a word, a dress that has lain for a century in grandmother's chest and not eaten by moths can be safely called vintage.

An antique thing is considered to be at least half a century old. For example, a book published before 1962, that is, 50 years ago, can be considered a rarity. Of course, the state of the copy is taken into account, and the publisher, and, finally, the content of the book. For example, books on home economics and cookery published in Stalin's times are now highly valued.

In short, in order to find interesting and useful things, sometimes it is enough to conduct an audit in your own house: among grandmother and grandfather's things, which we sometimes disparagingly call trash.

More recently, vintage style has returned to fashion. This direction in design means a skillful combination of old and modern things. Moreover, a vintage interior does not always mean decorating the entire room with antique or even antiques; you can simply use vintage-style decor.

Usually, those things that were created before the 60s are attributed to retro style, those that are under 15 years old - to modern. And those items that are made between these dates are vintage. But the vintage of this or that thing is judged not only by its age: the thing must be original, distinctive and, in general, look like a work of art.

Of interest is the vintage decor with your own hands, which will bear the imprint of the personality of its owner. You can independently make decor items from previous eras, and this will not be particularly expensive.

Different garlands and wreaths made of fabric, an organizer for jewelry or decorative elements made of burlap, various artificially aged jars and bottles, old photographs or drawings on aged paper look good.

Also, preserved children's things are often used to decorate rooms or individual vintage exhibitions: booties, sandals, dresses, caps, undershirts, etc.

Room decoration

To give the whole room the spirit of the past, they use antique or artificially aged furniture, textiles bought in antique shops or at flea markets, dishes, utensils and other items that have survived several eras. A vintage interior involves not only the use of antiques, but also a certain decoration of the room.

The main idea is to use natural materials:
- natural ceilings (cracks on them are even welcome, but everything should be in moderation; stucco molding at the junction of walls and ceiling also looks good),
- parquet or tiled floor (artificially created scuffs, chips and other defects are used),
- natural wallpaper (either Japanese motives, or floral patterns, or white walls).

Pay attention not to overload the vintage interior with details. The more small decorative elements are planned, the more airy and spacious the space should be. Combining functional things with old exhibits should be correct so that the room does not look like a museum. The main thing is that the room should be comfortable and comfortable, and vintage decor only complements the overall atmosphere and gives the room coziness and exclusivity.

Decor elements

To give the interior a finished look and uniqueness, separate vintage "corners" or "islands" are often decorated. This design is suitable for any room, as well as for almost all design styles, with the exception of minimalism and high-tech style. Pictures, decorations, postcards, dresses, utensils, dishes, candlesticks, toys, boxes and many other things are used as a means of decor.

Vintage decor looks cute, elegant and feminine, so it is most often used in bedrooms, kitchens, even bathrooms, but you can also moderately apply vintage-style decor in the living room or hallway area.

Vintage Dresses

When designing rooms in the style of punk glamor, a dress is often used as an element of decor. In the premises, vintage dresses are used, which are usually hung in the bedroom or simply on the wall, or on the mirror frame, or on the closet door. The main thing is to show off such an original dress.

If you are the proud owner of a vintage dress, but do not wear it so that such beauty does not go to waste, use it as a vintage decor. It is desirable that the color of the dress matches the general appearance of the room.

As an addition to such a bedroom design, you can use accessories: a hat, a handbag, jewelry or whole compositions of them.

Decorations

Accessories and decorations can also be used as independent vintage decor. Decorating a dressing table with such things will fill the room with girlish and soulful motives. If you have antique beads, hairpins, brooches, handbags and purses, rings, rings, use them as decor in a vintage style.

When composing compositions from jewelry, you can strain your imagination to the fullest: here the principle "good, but little" is not appropriate. It is believed that jewelry looks interesting when there are many of them.
As ideas for composing compositions, you can consider an organizer for jewelry, deliberately open boxes with accessories, jewelry on a tray or on old mannequins that are still preserved in some ateliers.

Furniture

Furniture items can be considered as a means of creating a vintage style in a room. In order not to overload the room, one old table or dressing table is enough. It is difficult to place something significant on such small tables, therefore, most often they do not carry a functional load, but become precisely an element of decor. On the console table, you can arrange compositions of jewelry, an old table lamp or a vintage-style mirror. So all these items will not look lonely, and the composition will look complete.

An old one can be used as a piece of furniture if it fits harmoniously into the interior of the room. You can decorate it with your own hands using old photos, pictures, creating artificial scuffs or cracks.

Pictures and photos

Pictures or old photographs will be another way to give the interior the spirit of previous eras. Such a vintage decor will be appropriate even in high-tech style and will add romance to the room if you choose the pictures skillfully. It looks interesting and one, but a large painting with a landscape or still life, and several symmetrically arranged paintings, as well as a whole wall of photographs or old postcard pictures.
The peculiarity of such decor elements, unlike other vintage items, is that they do not need to be combined with anything. They look natural by themselves.

Mirrors

Alternatively, you can use vintage mirrors to create a vintage ambience in your room.

If the mirror is really old, and better with scratches or scuffs, then you can use it in the interior without additional decoration.

Mirrors in artificially aged frames are widely used. You can create a similar vintage decor with your own hands, for example, using the decoupage technique.

When creating a vintage style interior, it is important not to hang the mirror on the wall, but simply to lean it against it. This applies to both floor mirrors and small vanity mirrors.
In order for the mirror not to "get bored" in the interior, you definitely need to pick up some vintage addition to it: you can use several mirrors in similar frames, you can place some composition, a box, a table lamp or candlesticks in a vintage style under the mirror.

Dishes

Antique tableware is also considered vintage decor. Plates, clay pots, perfume bottles or bottles that look like pharmaceuticals, teapots and even a samovar will look great in a vintage style kitchen. You can find similar items at flea markets or antique stores. After their restoration, if necessary, you can additionally decorate them, hiding minor defects. You can also artificially age such things, there are a lot of techniques for this.

Lighting

In a vintage interior, you can use lighting that matches the overall mood of the room. For this, antique table lamps, candlesticks or floor lamps are used.
The lamp is usually a white or light shade in the shape of a truncated cone on a massive crystal or metal leg with a complex pattern. Additionally, you can decorate the lamp by making a lampshade from a children's skirt or napkin.

What is vintage?

There were times when handmade jewelry was considered a sign of lack of taste or money. Now designers are developing collections of jewelry that sometimes cost much more than jewelry made of precious metals with stones-members of the "royal four"!

The day before, in an Internet boutique, I came across photographs of original jewelry, which were based on ordinary keys from door locks, old, well-worn ones. Looking at the price tags, I was stunned: not a single product is cheaper than fifty "green candy wrappers" (that is, dollars, as you probably guessed)!

These jewelry are original and unique. Each key has its own story! What forbidden rooms were locked by them once, what secrets were they a reliable outpost "during their lifetime" ?!
I was inspired in earnest!
I had to urgently examine the contents of the pantry and - oh, joy! - a couple of keys were found, one of which served as the basis for a "combined vintage" necklace.
In this publication, two master classes are presented: the first will reflect the fruit of my night vigils on creating a necklace based on an old key, the other on decorating a pin in a vintage style (it comes as a "trailer" in view of the simplicity of work).

- improve the skills of working with the necessary materials and tools, observing the safety rules;
- develop individual creativity, artistic taste;
- to bring up diligence, perseverance, accuracy in work.

old key,

Decorative items (beads, pendants, other, beads),

Working process:
Let's start with a simpler job. Decorating the pin in a vintage style.

We will prepare the necessary materials and tools. Not everything will come in handy. Often when doing this kind of work, you don't know what the final result will be.

Take a ring from an old earring, since there is a hole in it.

Using the tools, attach the links of the old chain to the ring.

Place a decorative coin inside the ring (then another part will replace it).

Let's attach the details to the non-working part of the pin.

At the opposite end of the pin, place a double piece of a volumetric heart and a bead, attaching the other end of the chain to them.

Now, one after the other, the decor options follow: first "pearl + bead" pendants, then beads - pendants. We choose which details are more in line with the chosen style.

The final result:

Wearing a pin like this : in the summer, it is not at all necessary to pin it directly onto the fabric of clothing in order to avoid its deformation, you can throw it over the shoulder strap - is not an option ?! In winter, you can pin the brooch by carefully threading the sweater through the fibers, for example.

Now let's start creating a necklace in the "combined vintage" style (this style takes place when some of the details were produced no later than the late 80s of the 20th century) based on the key, fortunately, as a result of long and nervous searches in the "grandmother's chest" Some truly vintage details have been discovered, such as an alloy chain, a vintage dragonfly pendant and a piece of gray linen, all dating back to the early 1980s.
