How the drain hose should be positioned. How to connect the washing machine to the sewer correctly? Options for creating a drain for washing equipment

Washing machines have long become indispensable household appliances for most people. But in order for them to perform their functions, and uninterruptedly and in full, it is necessary to ensure the possibility of draining the polluted water.

The easiest way to do this is to use the supplied hose. However, it is more practical to use a washing machine siphon, which will provide a number of important advantages. We will tell you how to select and install an important and convenient sewer device.

The process of removing contaminated water after washing must be organized correctly. For this, an important device called a siphon is used, which is able to continuously drain any required amount of liquid.

Moreover, simultaneously with such an operation, a number of important tasks are performed, including:

  1. Prevention of odors, gases from the sewage system entering the premises. This is achieved by using a water seal, which is a water plug that completely closes the desired section of the pipe along the entire diameter. Moreover, this structural element performs its functions even when the washing machine is not used for a long time.
  2. Elimination of the formation of plugs in the drainage system, and, if it did happen, the siphon design will provide an easy and prompt cleaning procedure.

In addition, many siphons are capable of filtering large particles of debris. This additionally helps to prevent the possibility of requiring sewer clogging. Still, such a solution can save valuable items forgotten in the pockets of any washable items.

Any siphon for draining / draining water from the washing machine is a plastic or metal structure with a water seal, which prevents odors from entering the house

An important function is also considered to reduce the load on, which prolongs its resource, and significantly. Do I have to use it?

The washing machine is equipped with a drain hose with a device for forming a bend. It can replace the siphon, because prevents the backflow of waste water, but at the same time contaminated liquid gradually spoils the enamel shell of the bath, sink or toilet

Modern washing machines are equipped with drain hoses that can easily replace a siphon. The advantage of this method of water drainage is ease of installation and operation.

Since all that needs to be done to prepare for the draining procedure is to bring the hose into the bathroom, sink, toilet bowl. Such a device is attached using a curved element - a holder attached to the hose.

If this method has only one advantages, then there are more disadvantages and they are more significant. So, if the hose is not connected to the sewer pipe, then the hose will have to be bent into an S or U-shape.

The siphon does not have to be specialized, that is, a product for washing, dishwasher, which has an additional pipe for draining from the machine, can ensure the discharge of contaminated water

As a result, the thin-walled corrugated product will be constantly under load. Which often leads to a violation of its tightness and corresponding problems. And by abandoning the water seal, the owner of the washing machine risks saturating his home.

Often the distance from the washing machine to the outlet of the sewer pipe is impressive, and it is not possible to lay the drain hose correctly, that is, with a slope. As a result, the load on the pump increases significantly, which will lead to its premature failure.

When connecting a drain hose with a water seal formed by a pipe bend, it is necessary to provide a slope to improve the flow of water into the sewer

In addition, if there is a shortage of the length of the existing hose, it is increased with the help of an additional piece of the same product and a coupling. This also leads to an increase in resistance, which means an increase in the load on the pump.

Additional joints of all parts of the drain hose are not reliable and durable enough. As a result, a leak can start at any time.

Although drain hoses are inexpensive and easy to replace, fear of harming themselves or their neighbors should keep washing machine owners from constantly using a hose, especially a wrongly routed hose, instead of a siphon.

Due to the listed significant disadvantages, the use of a drain hose can only be a temporary solution. And it will be possible to properly organize the drain by connecting the washing machine to the nearest sewer pipe. If it is far away, then it should be lengthened.

To connect the hose to the pipe, you must purchase a rubber cuff, which levels the difference in the diameters of these products. In addition, it is possible to achieve the desired tightness of the connection. In this case, the requirements of the instructions supplied with the washing machine should be observed.

The laying of sewer pipes in a hidden way is carried out quite rarely here, because building codes require free access to communications. However, the location of the connection point to the sewer behind a false wall is quite possible.

All of the above testifies that it is possible to do without a siphon intended for, but this will not be the most practical and best solution.

Device selection guidelines

It is difficult to choose drain fittings only because of the low awareness of potential buyers with this type of equipment. But it is not difficult to fix this, since there are only a few of its types, which greatly simplifies the task.

The video will acquaint you with the typical types of siphons used when connecting washing machines:

These include the following siphons:

  • outdoor;
  • internal;
  • combined.

Since each of the types has its own advantages and disadvantages, an interested person should familiarize himself with them in more detail. This will help save time and money when shopping.

The built-in version of the siphon is installed in the wall. The product usually comes with an external decorative panel to hide the installation location

Inexpensive and extremely unsightly

Usually external siphons are used if a fairly large distance separates the washing machine and the nearest sewer. That makes it possible to perform installation in a convenient place and use for this purpose constructively simple products that are not distinguished by their compactness and other technical delights.

An external siphon is used when there is no need to save space, and its unsightly features are not striking, for example, if it is hidden behind the washing machine itself, the bathroom

The disadvantages include the fact that external siphons do not make it possible to install existing washing machines close to the walls of a person. Therefore, in some cases, insufficient compactness can also be considered a minus.

Convenient and not cheap models

A feature of all internal siphons is their small size and the fact that they are mounted inside the wall, for which special recesses are made. The above allows you to install washing machines close to any wall of the room.

In addition, the interior siphons are aesthetically pleasing. Their body is recessed into a pre-made cavity, and the outer part is covered with a decorative panel, which can be metal or plastic. Therefore, only the compact fitting bent at 90 ° C can be seen from the entire structure.

The use of a built-in siphon allows to completely hide the aesthetically unattractive components. Outside there is only a coupling or a hose connection

The disadvantages of internal siphons are the relatively complex installation and considerable, in comparison with other types, its cost. In addition, they are much more difficult to dismantle, which causes some inconvenience when cleaning is necessary.

Universal combined option

Visually aligned siphons do not differ from ordinary ones with the exception of one thing. This is the presence in the structure of several fittings designed for the simultaneous connection of drain hoses belonging to different objects.

Such a product is versatile, therefore it is used for the simultaneous removal of contaminated water from washing machines, washbasins, kitchen sinks, dishwashers.

How to install a combined siphon is described in the following video, and it also indicates the advantages and disadvantages of this method of connecting to the sewer:

Differences in size and shape

For ease of use, all modern drain fittings differ in shape and size. This is done to ensure the desired performance, efficiency, prevent clogging, ease of installation, provide sufficient aesthetic qualities, and other issues.

Siphons for arranging sewerage are now available in a wide range, allowing you to provide a water seal to all points of connection of plumbing and household equipment to the sewerage

Therefore, if a potential buyer needs to save space when installing a washing machine, then you should pay attention to flat siphons. They have the most compact dimensions.

As a result, it is easy to place the purchased washing machine under the existing washbasin. Which is an effective solution, especially in small bathrooms. This type of installation can be an interesting design solution if a person chooses a matching household appliance and sink.

The option of installing the washing machine under the sink requires the use of a special flat type of siphon, to which it is also possible to connect the drain of the washing machine

Devices with non-return valves

Although modern siphons successfully resist clogging, the formation of plugs, anything can happen. Therefore, the buyer should take care of an additional degree of protection.

For these purposes, a siphon for the purchased washing machine with a built-in non-return valve is used. It is designed to address a number of important safety concerns.

Which include:

  1. Prevention of the return of contaminated water in the formation of plugs in the sewer pipes.
  2. Elimination of unauthorized drainage of water during the washing process.

The presence of this valve is especially important for residents of the lower floors of houses. Since they are most affected by blockages in sewer systems.

The check valve is extremely simple in design, but its use allows you to avoid the unpleasant phenomena of the reverse flow of dirty liquid into the pipes connected to the siphon

At the same time, a potential buyer of this type of siphon should pay attention to the fact that many washing machines are supplied with check valves already equipped. Therefore, in order to avoid unnecessary spending, this issue must be clarified in advance.

Preparation for the purchase of fittings

Any type of siphon can be used to organize an efficient washing process. The main thing to consider is the convenience of installation, use and aesthetic qualities. If the washing machine is located far from the siphon, and the question of saving space is not worth it, then you can buy any of its varieties.

It is ideal when the drain fittings are hidden from view by something - a bathroom, a sink, a door, furniture, or any other object. If the shape of the siphon "hurts the eye", does not add aesthetics to the room, and besides there is no way to hide it, then it is necessary to purchase a built-in product.

This solution will allow you to put the washing machine close to any wall the owner needs, hide the drain fittings. This option will significantly improve the appearance of the room.

The combined siphon is the most versatile solution, as it allows you to connect any number of drain hoses to the sewer pipe

When installation underneath is planned, then it will be correct to purchase a flat siphon. It takes up a minimum amount of space, so it will easily allow you to complete your plan.

If a potential buyer plans to drain polluted water simultaneously with 2-3 types of equipment, then the best solution would be to purchase a combined siphon with the required number of fittings for connecting drain hoses.

In the absence of a check valve in the design of the washing machine, you should not save money on its purchase. The owner will not regularly benefit from it, but in a critical situation this product will save you from significant troubles and losses.

A flat siphon is the best option when the owner of the washing machine needs to save space in the bathroom or other room

There is no need to save on the quality of the siphon itself, its components. Since their service life is always relatively short, and budget options remain operational for an even shorter period of time.

Installing the Purchased Product

When installing the siphon yourself, you should always take into account a number of mandatory rules. Otherwise, it will not be possible to effectively drain the contaminated water, and this will also affect the performance of the washing machine.

The following points apply to the mandatory installation rules:

  • the siphon should not be installed higher than 80 cm from the level at which the washing machine is located - non-compliance entails a large load on the pumping device, which leads to its rapid wear;
  • it is not worth lengthening the drain hose, this solution will again lead to a significant increase in the load on the washing machine pump.

If, nevertheless, it was necessary to perform lengthening, then this should be considered as a temporary solution. The drain hose does not need to be dropped on the floor, as the pump will have to exert even more extra effort to perform its function.

Therefore, the best way to solve the problem with the length is to lay the sewer pipe at the required distance.

Installation of any siphon is a simple operation, but this only applies to a situation when all the preparatory work has been completed and communications are connected

If this is not possible, then the hose should be laid along the wall with the required slope in order to ensure the gravity of water. In this case, the permissible loads will act on the pump, which means that the service life will not be reduced.

If you want to install the purchased siphon yourself, then you need to understand that this will be a simple operation only if the sewer pipes, sinks, a washing machine, etc. are installed and connected. And the necessary preparatory work was done, for example, a recess was made in the wall for a built-in siphon.

The installation and connection of the washing machine must be carried out in strict accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer, the exact recommendations of which are given in the technical documentation for the product (+)

Additionally, you need to consider a number of features. For example, if the mentioned internal siphon is installed, and tiles are used to decorate the bathroom walls, then the cladding is performed first. And only then the place for the drain fittings is chosen. Since the work in this sequence will allow you to get higher aesthetic qualities.

If any of the above conditions are not met, then essential knowledge and special tools will be required for installation. Which makes the capabilities of an unprepared person limited.

Mistakes are often made that lead to financial losses. This indicates the need to use the services of masters for complex work on wiring communications and other things.

The drain pipe from the washing machine must be connected to the sewer system at a strictly defined height, which may differ slightly depending on the brand of the machine, more precisely, on the power of the drain pump

Nevertheless, the usual replacement of the siphon or simply installation is quite simple to perform. For this, it is necessary to connect the product to the sewer pipe, and then bring the drain hose.

New gaskets should be used to ensure proper tightness. And after dismantling the old siphon from the sewer pipe, it is necessary to remove traces of contamination from the hose.

After completing the installation procedure, carefully check the tightness of all existing clamps, bolts, and other fasteners. Next, you need to drain the contaminated water in test mode.

Why is toilet paper placed under the siphon - such a simple solution will reveal even minimal leakage, which is not always possible to do visually. Therefore, verification should be carried out only using the specified control method.

If a combined type of drain fittings is used, then it is worthwhile to simultaneously drain from all the equipment used. This will test the tightness and performance at maximum load.

This is how the drain hose is mounted to the sewer pipe if there is a desire to save money on a siphon, although this is not the best solution

If testing has not found a siphon leakage to drain the contaminated liquid from the washing machine, then the owner can proceed to its normal use. And without any restrictions.

Conclusions and useful video on the topic

You can get acquainted with all existing types of siphons by watching the following video:

To choose the best version of the siphon, which makes it possible to drain contaminated water from washing machines for a long time without interruption, it is enough to have a small stock of knowledge.

Since only a few types of drain fittings are produced and used by owners of washing machines, which is quite enough to meet all needs. And also, you should never forget that the siphon must be correctly installed.

If you decide to connect the washing machine yourself, not trusting such work to the master in order to save money, then find out all the nuances before doing this. In this case, you will be fully armed, so to speak, prepare everything you need at once and do the job efficiently. How to drain the washing machine correctly, what methods exist, this will be discussed further.

Connection methods, which one to choose?

There are three ways to organize the drainage of waste water from the washing machine.

  • The first method involves draining water into the plumbing - the easiest option to perform. Even a beginner who connects a machine for the first time can make such a drain.
  • The second method involves connecting to the drain through a siphon. This method is considered the most optimal, it is used most often.
  • The third way is to connect the drain hose directly to the sewer. This option is difficult in the organization, connecting the drain in this way is most often trusted by the master.

In addition to the complexity of the connection, each of the options has its own pros and cons. So, for example, the withdrawal of water into plumbing is the most unreliable and unaesthetic. The drain hose attachment through the tub or toilet can come off and the water will flood the bathroom. In addition, you contaminate the bathtub, which will have to be brushed to a shine every time in order to wash. There may be an unpleasant odor in the room when draining. But when connected via a siphon, on the contrary, you will be protected from such odors.

Think carefully before choosing this or that connection method, it is better to spend time and effort right away than to redo everything and pay for damage to neighbors later.

The method of draining water "overboard" is suitable only when you install a washing machine in the country or in a private house where there is no sewage system. In this case, you throw the hose into a special tank, from which you pour out the water after each wash cycle.

What you need to work

When preparing to carry out work, check the length of the standard hoses, whether they are enough for the chosen drainage method. In addition, they may be required.Their size and design will depend on the material from which the pipes and drain in your apartment are made. So, in addition to the supplied drain hose, you may need:

  • sealing rubber;
  • clamp;
  • fitting;
  • check valve;
  • siphon;
  • tee;
  • a set of keys;
  • grinder for cutting the pipe when connected directly to the sewer.

We connect via a siphon

When installing the washing machine in the kitchen, the preferred way of organizing the drain is to connect the drain hose to the sink siphon. To do this, you need to provide a place for the car near the sink. If an already installed siphon does not have an additional outlet for a washing machine, then you can completely replace the siphon with a new one or add a splitter. It is even better if you purchase a special siphon with a branch and a check valve.

The non-return valve will prevent waste water from flowing back into the machine, as well as the appearance of unpleasant odors.

The siphon is installed as high as possible to the sink, at a height not lower than 40 cm from the floor level. And the drain hose itself, coming from the machine, is fixed at a height of 70 cm from the floor on the machine body with a special holder. Thus, the hose first rises and then falls back into the drain.

The water drain hose is connected to the siphon through a special branch pipe, which is put on the branch of the siphon and secured with a clamp. A similar connection is shown in the photo below.

Connection without siphon

Connecting to a sewer without a siphon, directly to the sewer, will require special plumbing skills. Therefore, if you doubt your abilities, then you should contact a master. Moreover, the repair of the machine under warranty in case of violation of the connection rules will not be carried out. The repair will be entirely at your expense.

What do you need to connect a drain directly? It is necessary to make a tie-in in the sewer pipe for a branch under the drain hose. It's good if the sewer pipe is plastic, but problems can arise with cast-iron pipes. After the branch is installed, you need to insert the drain hose into this branch through the O-ring. The most important thing is to respect the connection height. The hose is inserted into the sewer at a height of at least 60 cm, while it should not touch the water. This will keep odors out.

Important! The hose connection height affects the load on the drain pump. Therefore, observe the recommended value.

Draining the washing machine into the sewer is good when the sink with a siphon is located more than two meters from the washing machine. A long hose in such a situation is not an option, since it is an additional load on the pump.

Thus, subject to the instructions and recommendations specified in the passport for your washing machine, you can connect the machine to the drain yourself. After connecting, be sure to check the operation of the washing machine in idle mode, check the tightness of all connections.

Before buying a new washing machine, we always carefully select the place where it will stand. But after the machine is installed and you need to correctly connect the washing machine to the sewer and water supply, it may turn out that the hoses are short. Today we will talk about what to do in a situation if the drain hose is short. How to lengthen the drain hose in the washing machine in such a situation? In fact, everything is simple and you should not worry, because you can do it yourself, without disassembling the washing machine.

Drain hose extension for washing machine

Washing machine manufacturers use standard drain hoses about 1.5 meters long on their products. In most cases, this is enough, and if you correctly plan the sewage supply to the washing machine or install a hidden siphon for the washing machine, then there should be no problems with the length of the standard hose. But it often happens that the hose is too short, or the sewer pipe is too far away and the standard length is not enough. What to do in such a situation?

In order to make the drain hose longer, there are two ways that are difficult to implement:

Method one: you can buy a longer one-piece hose and replace it whole. But in this case, you will need to tinker a little and unscrew some parts of the washing machine. In some models of washing machines, this is easier to do, in some it is even necessary to remove the front wall. Therefore, this option for lengthening the drain hose is not very convenient and will not work for many. And why bother, if you can make everything much easier.

The second way: You can simply buy an extra washing machine hose and connector from the store. With the help of which, lengthen the drain. We will consider this method in more detail.

Choosing the length of the drain hose

You can buy a drain hose for a washing machine at almost any plumbing store or hardware store. To do this, first measure the missing length of the new hose. To do this, take a tape measure and figure out how the hose will go from the machine to the sewer itself. Measure so that the tape is free. The hose should not be tightened, so leave a small margin.

In the store you can find hoses for draining various lengths: 1m, 1.5m, 2m, 3m, 3.5m, 4m, 5m and even a modular drain hose.

A modular hose is a large hose reel, which is divided into 0.5 meter modules. You can order any necessary length multiple of 0.5 meters, and the seller simply unwinds the required length and cuts it off.

In our case, the best option would be to buy a hose with a fixed length, since it is much easier to find it in a store.
Note: You should not try to buy the longest possible hose. The drain pump needs much more effort to pump water over a longer distance. In general, do not make a drain hose with a total length of more than 3.5 meters.

Once we have decided on the length of the hose, we will need a special connector that will allow the two ends of the drain hoses to dock. It is a small plastic tube on which both ends of the hose are put on and tightened with clamps.

Clamps for the drain hose of the washing machine can be bought at any store with auto parts. The dimensions of the clamps should be 16 × 27mm. I would like to separately note that the ends of one drain hose come in two different diameters. Some are 19 mm in diameter, the other 22 mm. It is common to connect the thin end from the washing machine to the thicker end of the extension hose using 19 x 22mm cut-out connectors. But if you connect the ends of hoses with the same diameter, then there is also a connector 22x22mm.

You can make a connector from any plastic tube of the corresponding diameter. It will serve in the same way as a purchased one. Do not forget to just secure it with a clamp.

Extend the drain hose

Let's check again if we have everything in order to make the washing machine drain longer:

  • Extension hose
  • Connector
  • Clamps
  • Screwdriver

If all this is in our possession, then we get to work. To begin with, put clamps on both hoses, then insert the end of the hose coming from the washing machine into the connector. After that we insert another hose into the other end of the connector.

Now tighten the clamp with a screwdriver, do not overdo it. It is enough to just fix the hose so that it does not slip from the connector.

After you have lengthened the drain hose, you can connect it to the drain and start a test wash.
When draining the washing machine, make sure that there are no leaks at the junction. But we are sure that everything worked out well for you and nothing will flow. Recall that clogging of the drainage system will entail

Specialization: master of interior and exterior decoration (plaster, putty, tile, drywall, lining, laminate and so on). In addition, plumbing, heating, electrical, conventional cladding and balcony extensions. That is, repairs in an apartment or house were done on a turnkey basis with all the necessary types of work.

If you need to know how to connect a washing machine to the sewer, then you have come to where you need to come for advice. I want to talk about two main methods that are generally possible to apply in this case. In addition, I will explain the features of the sidebar, and also invite you to watch the video in this article.

Two methods

There is one more, third way, which you see in the photo above.
But this is no longer a connection, but simply fixing the hose with a U-shaped adapter over the side of the bathroom.
Such a U-shaped fitting is included in the kit for each washing machine.

Method one

It is not without reason that I focus your attention precisely on the machine, since there the water is drained by force. Therefore, the entire instruction, which will be lower, refers specifically to this type of washing machine:

  • on the plumbing market, there are currently on sale siphons for sinks, sinks and bathtubs with an additional outlet for connecting a hose of 22 mm in diameter;
  • we can say that it is these siphons (with an additional outlet) that much more are offered than ordinary ones;
  • if you install such a siphon, but for some reason will not connect the washing machine, then the outlet can be closed with the plug that comes with the kit.

Method two

But the correct connection of the washing machine to the sewage system directly into the pipeline may differ slightly:

  • the hose for draining water in the washing machine is 22 mm in diameter, but there is no special socket for bends for 50 mm or 32 mm pipelines;
  • therefore, for the connection, a rubber reduction with a transition to 22 mm is used here - its price is rather symbolic, but the device is fully consistent with the purpose - it is convenient and hermetically sealed;
  • if your washing unit is in close proximity to a 50 mm sewer pipeline, then of course you will bump into it through a tee;
  • but if the machine is at the other end of the room, then use a 32 mm PVC pipe, connecting it to a 50 mm bend;
  • in such cases, the scheme for connecting the washing machine to the sewer does not require the installation of a 32nd pipe at a slope, since the drain is forced here;
  • The 32nd pipe into the socket of the 50th branch is also connected using a rubber reduction.

Drain hose for some units has a diameter of 19 mm on the machine side and 22 mm on the pipeline side.

Features of connecting a washing machine

First of all, you should know if there is a check valve on the drain of your washing machine that only allows water to pass in one direction. Only in this case you can figure out how to properly connect the washing machine to the sewer.

If such a device does not exist, then the manufacturer must indicate the height level at which the hose loop should be located - a water loop is created in this area. This closure mainly serves to prevent the leakage of unpleasant odors that can penetrate from the drain pipe through the machine.

In the latest models of washing machines, for the most part, a check valve is provided, so in this regard there should not be any questions about how to connect the hose. Your task includes only the correct connection of the end pipe (it is smooth, without corrugation) with a rubber reduction or with an additional siphon outlet.

In order not to damage the rubber reduction, I usually lubricate it with liquid dishwashing detergent - this way it is easier to pack it in a socket and insert a smooth pipe into it.

If the connection is made through an additional outlet for the siphon, then there you just need to remove the tube, which is inserted there from the factory, and install a pipe from the hose instead. To seal the connection there is a coupling - in the image it is indicated by the number 8 - it presses the cone gasket, which, in fact, provides a seal in this place.

That is, the tube that is in this siphon from the factory is installed there more to keep these parts in working order.

If the standard drain hose does not reach the point of the insert into the sewer, then it can be increased by adding a piece of the required length and connecting these fragments with a fitting with insurance with steel clamps 16 × 27 mm. As I already said, the end pipes can have different diameters, therefore there are two options for connecting fittings - you can see them in the top photo.

There are also modular hoses on the market, where each of the fragments is 0.5 m long, so you can implement any request. But do not forget that the longer the outlet, the more difficult it is to cope with the water supply.

Water connection

In this case, oddly enough, it is much easier to connect the unit to the water supply than to the sewage system, since there is actually no choice. In any case, the pipeline with the water supply should be near the automatic machine and it should have stop valves in the form of a straight or angular tap. On the hose itself there are two clamping nuts, therefore, on the machine itself and on the stop valves there must be a fitting with an external thread.

It is noteworthy that the nuts are designed for 3/4 inch diameter, therefore, the stop valves must have exactly the same thread. But if a special faucet, which is intended for this purpose, is done 3/4, then the wiring of the water supply most often has 1/2 inch. Therefore, in some cases, a reducer fitting is required for the connection.

Conclusion

In fact, it is quite simple to connect the unit with your own hands to the sewage system, if at the same time all connections are made carefully, that is, hermetically. But if you still have a misunderstanding on this issue - ask about it in the comments.

Proper connection of the drain of the washing machine. How to properly connect a washing machine?

First, consider connecting a washing machine to communication systems. Connect the machine to the cold water supply and establish a drain for the waste water.

Quite often, the design of washing machines sets a limit on the minimum and maximum height of the exhaust pipe. In order for the washing machine to drain the water, it is necessary to connect the water drainage system to the sewage system. Dalle consider connecting the washing machine drain ... An additional siphon should be installed or a pipe secured to the side of the bathtub or sink.

The fastening must be reliable in order to avoid flooding of the apartment when the drain hose falls out.

It is believed that the most modern and convenient drainage options are nothing more than connecting the drain hose to the sewer. Please note that it is possible to increase the length of the drain hose, but it has its own length limit, dictated by the maximum power of the drain pump. You can find out the maximum length of the drain hose from the documentation that came with the washing machine.

The drain hose should be secured to the back of the washing machine at a height of approximately 80 centimeters.

We fix the drain hose

The second end of the hose is connected to the sewer using a special siphon to avoid getting unpleasant odors and water from the sewer into the machine. You can bend the end of the hose to create a water blockage effect, which also prevents odor and water from entering the machine.

Some masters recommend loosely connecting the drain hose and sewer.

One of the options for connecting the hose to the sewer.

The possible presence of an air gap will avoid the suction of water from the machine into the sewer. This can cause the machine to freeze with certain wash programs. However, such a connection has a serious condition. The height of the air gap should be several centimeters higher than the level of water rise in the sink or bathroom in case of possible clogging of the sewer. Otherwise, there is a rather high likelihood of flooding the apartment when the drain is blocked through the air gap.

How to connect a washing machine

A new washing machine in the house, how nice, but without communication connected to it, it's just a beautiful curbstone. It is not difficult to connect the washing machine, but if everything is done incorrectly, you can easily get for repairs or, even worse, write off your purchase.

If the desire to save overcame the fear of losing the washing machine, read on. The very first thing is not to listen to the seller’s exhortation that if they don’t connect the washer, then the guarantee for the machine will be lost. This is a heinous lie. The warranty is canceled in the event that the washing machine was damaged as a result of an incorrect connection, and if everything was done correctly, it does not matter who connected it. Let's go further.

The first thing to think about is electricity. If the home is not a new building, then a standard outlet may not be able to withstand high power consumption, so prepare the outlet in advance. Better a separate outlet from the shield. If there is an electric stove in the house, you can throw a wire from it. For this, take a three-core cord with a cross section of 1-1.5 mm, the color and type of insulation to taste. In new houses, the wires are made mostly conscientiously, so here you can be calm.

The second part is plumbing. Water is an insidious thing and here you have to be extremely careful in the choice of materials. Do not save here - you will regret later. It is best to get taps and hoses from trusted stores. Large construction supermarkets are the most it. They are less likely to run into a marriage.

Do not connect the tap by drilling a hole in the pipe and then crimping it with a special tap-coupling. In practice, such a valve quickly clogs. Better put a classic tap. The inlet hose should not be very soft. Choose a hose length with a margin of 1-1.5 meters, so that in case of repair of the washing machine, without undocking the hoses, the washing machine can be pulled out without difficulty. The same goes for the drain hose.

So we smoothly moved to the drain part. There are two options: connect the washing machine to a siphon or directly to the sewer. Another ambush awaits you here. The siphon is insidious in that if you throw the hose on the floor, water can be poured into the washing machine through the drain hose. Therefore, be sure to run the drain hose along the top so that its highest point is higher than the water in the sink to which the washing machine is connected.

If the drain hose is connected to the sewer, then be sure to grow the pipe in a vertical direction to a height of 50-60 cm. Otherwise, water from the machine by gravity will go into the sewer.

If you follow these rules, your washing machine will not require you to repair it soon.

Proper installation of the washing machine

It is very important from the very first days to correctly connect the washing machine to the water supply and electricity. Violation of the installation rules can lead to serious consequences, both for you and for your new “assistant” - a washing machine.

1. Dismantling the packaging and transport units
After the washing machine has been brought to your home, inspect the packaging and make sure that it has not been damaged. Then remove the packaging (cardboard, foam, polyethylene) from all parts of the washing machine. Install the unit in the chosen place (bathroom or kitchen). When doing this, take into account the length of the water intake and drainage hose and the length of the power cord. If the standard hoses are too short, you will need to purchase longer hoses for the washing machine from your nearest store.
Now you can remove the transport parts that secure the tank and the rotating elements of the washing machine. those. protect the machine during transportation.
Such parts are usually bolts (most often there are three), staples and bars. You must make sure that all fasteners are removed, because turning on the washing machine with the transport units not removed will lead to a quick failure of the washing machine and without the possibility of warranty repair. The holes from which the bolts were unscrewed must be sealed with the enclosed plastic inserts.
Brackets provide additional rigidity during transportation, fix the power cord, drain hose.

Sometimes additional fixing shipping bars are laid between the body and the tank. To remove the bars, tilt the washing machine forward and pull them out.
We recommend that you keep all transport details as with a possible move, you may need them.

2. Connecting the washing machine to the sewer
As already mentioned, washing machines have a hose of a certain length in the kit. The standard distance from the washing machine to the drain is 3 m, only for some washing machines this distance is 5 m. Manufacturers of washing machines always determine the possible load on the pump (drain pump) in their washing machines, and in accordance with this form the installation rules. With an increased distance, the load on the pump will be greater than calculated, and this can lead to damage in the future. The fixing of the drain hose must be reliable enough to prevent the hose from falling to the floor and flooding the apartment when the water is drained.

When the drainage system is permanently connected to the sewage system, in order to avoid getting an unpleasant smell from the sewage system into the washing machine, a special siphon should be installed or the end of the hose should be bent so as to create a water congestion. It is important to note that this method of connection is NOT RECOMMENDED for houses with worn sewer pipes, as they contain a large amount of blockages, which can lead to the release of drained water outside (on the bathroom floor).

3. Connecting the washing machine to the water supply
The permanent connection of the washing machine is made using a specially supplied flexible hose with a 3/4 inch connection diameter. The hose can be extended to the required size. The connections are sealed with a rubber gasket.
In addition, it is desirable to provide a water shut-off upon completion of use of the washing machine. To do this, put an additional valve, which is closed at the end of the wash. It is recommended to give preference to more expensive models of cranes, with a good margin of safety and tight joints.
Adjusting the legs of the washing machine is also an important point.
The washing machine must be stable, without distortion. The floor under the machine must not be slippery. A machine that is not designed for installation in furniture cannot be located inside the furniture, otherwise the vibration during the spin will destroy this furniture.
The washing machine has height-adjustable front feet for proper installation.

4. Connecting the washing machine to the mains
Your safety while operating the washing machine is paramount. To ensure safety, it is necessary to connect a zero or grounding bus with a cross section of at least 3 mm from the switchboard. and the socket will have to be replaced with a three-wire one.
The ground wire must be insulated; it is strictly forbidden to connect it to radiators, water supply systems, gas supply systems.
A separate three-wire cable from the meter is required for the correct connection of the washing machine. In this case, the electric meter must be designed for a rated current of 15 ... 30 A. A separate automatic machine can be installed on this cable. It is recommended to run the cable with an external wiring diagram in plastic channels (plastic profiles). It is reliable and aesthetically pleasing.
If, nevertheless, you feel doubts about the correctness of your actions, it is better to contact the appropriate specialist.

The washing machine does not heat the water

Temperature is one of the most important components in the operation of a washing machine. If the washing machine does not heat the water, then it will not be able to wash the laundry in the right way. Therefore, the presence of temperature must be monitored. So, what are the symptoms and how is it possible to return the missing function to the washing machine.

The main mistake of many users who call us is tactile sensations at the end of the wash. Considering that rinsing takes place in cold water, it is easy to guess what the temperature of the laundry will be. So this diagnosis is immediately discarded. But if, the washing machine throughout the wash, especially the first thirty minutes, could not heat the water, at least to room temperature, then the time to beware.

Sometimes a washing machine is simply not able to do this, because it is not connected correctly. This topic was discussed in the article "How to connect a washing machine." In short, the machine involuntarily, without the help of a pump, pours the freshly poured water into the sewer and so on ad infinitum. Of course, water is simply not able to heat up.

Another way to fix the problem is to look carefully at the temperature controller. Sometimes the regulator is accidentally set to zero, and as a result, the washing machine does not heat the water, because it clearly follows your instructions.

The last symptom is the most common. The washing machine, having worked the first 10-15 minutes, stops and remains in this state until the owners wake up. In 99% of cases, the heating element or, in other words, the heating element is to blame. Here, most likely, you will have to contact the company for the repair of washing machines. One cannot do without a replacement.

How to properly connect a washing machine?

Installing and connecting a washing machine yourself is not very difficult for someone who knows how to work with an electrical panel, wires and plumbing hoses.

(I am writing this post for retail buyers of craftsmen and for sellers of washing machines, because only that seller inspires confidence in the buyer in his stories when selling, who is a real practitioner, a master, and not a glamorous theorist.)

To get started, in addition to the washing machine, buy:

1) a socket with a grounding of more than 16 amperes, preferably rubberized from dampness;

2) a piece of three-core cable with a cross-section of about 4 mm2 (by eye - with a pencil thick) and such a length. how far is the current and ground source from your washing machine - more precisely from its personal outlet. Such a source can be an electric stove outlet, if you have one in your house, or an electrical distribution box on the ground on the floor;

In no case do not save on cable and grounding - they will protect your health and life.

3) Buy a tap on the toilet cistern to connect the washing machine - sellers in the markets know. what it is;

4) buy a longer inlet hose than the one that was sold to you in the kit (take into account the distance from the toilet bowl to the washing machine. Buy a high-quality hose - do not save, otherwise you will later repair the neighbor's apartment below and remember your wrong savings.

5) And also buy in advance a new, well-braided inlet hose for the toilet bowl. They are often 40 years old already. (Usually, when they put the washer, the old hose is torn and broken).

6) Buy a packet switch plug from 25 amperes, through which you separately power the washing machine and if you have old wiring, buy an RCD (this is the same packet plug - a switch on the power line in a wet room, but it protects not the device, but the person - if the current goes somewhere in the wiring and can strike - then this RCD will turn off);

7) purchase an additional drain hose and an adapter on it, as long as your washing machine with its short drain hose is far from the point of discharge of dirty water - that is, from the bathroom, if you will "dirty" drain over the edge or from the sink siphon,

8) which is also a good idea to buy for a clean and quiet drain - a new three-arm siphon for connecting the drain from the washer ..

They brought you a washing machine home - what to do next to install it and start washing?

1) Measure the voids on the sides of the washing machine - will the washing machine hit adjacent objects and furniture during spinning and make a gap of at least 1 cm.

2) See if it will be convenient to open the hatch and load linen (both on the front and on the vertical).

3) Remove the shipping bolts and shipping brackets (if any). Keep these items if re-shipment is possible.

4) Align the washer to the building bubble level so that it does not hit during spinning. Place the washer only on a solid, non-swaying floor. Align it by twisting the legs.

5) Bring electricity and grounding through a previously purchased cable, a bag and an outlet from the shield from the site in a house with gas stoves or from an electric stove outlet. Find out in advance in Zheka whether there is grounding in the house on the shield. You can protect yourself from electric shock in the van with the old wiring by installing also an RCD on the wiring line. An RCD is a device similar to a pouch plug that turns off the power supply to the device if the current goes into water or objects in a damp room.

6) Connect the washer to the water through the inlet hose and the tap to the toilet cistern - at the entrance to it of his own inlet hose.

7) Connect the washing machine to a new triple drain siphon, which you screw to the sink through a hose (or put the drain through the "goose" on the edge of the bathroom.

Be sure to fix the beginning of the drain hose in the upper eyelet on the back of the machine, otherwise it will fill and immediately drain water.

8) Open the water tap for filling the washing machine (after washing, have a habit of closing it, and when you leave the house, be sure). Many people forget to do this - then the hose will collapse, burst and the neighbors are all flooded below. Or buy a water stop hose in advance, but this is not a cheap pleasure.

9) Put the laundry, fill in the powder (the powder is automatic, the automatic machine is written on the box or bag and the automatic machine is drawn) select the program and turn on the washer. If the washer hits hard and jumps, it means you have not turned out all the transport bolts or your laundry is small or very large. Check if the washing machine is tilted. Check if everything is connected correctly?

When installed correctly, the washing machine should run smoothly and not very loudly and under no circumstances should it bang with the drum.

This entire setup is only available to experienced craftsmen. My advice to you, if you are not very qualified, then it is better to call the installation wizard. It costs not very much and is expensive, but it will be made faster and more reliable.

Washing machine electric shock

Everyone knows that the washing machine is a high-risk device, and we often find out about this when we were well shaken by an electric shock. On the one hand, touching the washing machine during operation is undesirable.

If the washing machine is in your bathroom when it is running, you definitely cannot swim. So the eternal question arises: "What to do?" I understand perfectly well that our articles help people who, for a number of reasons, cannot call the wizard, and therefore, in this case, here are some recommendations.

The washing machine gives an electric shock when an appliance that is grounded to the chassis fails. If your washing machine begins to be shocked, first of all it is worth checking the following devices:

engine,
heater (TEN),
network filter,
pump (rarely)
command apparatus (rare).

Checking for leaks is also quite simple. Arm yourself with a tester, turn it on for continuity. Remove all connectors from the device you want to test and place one end of the tester on the ground (where the yellow-green wire was), and the second ring all the contacts on the device in turn. If at least one of them showed resistance, then it is because of this device that the machine is beating current. The device must be changed or excluded, such as a surge protector.

How to organize the proper care and maintenance of the washing machine?

Do not place heavy objects or stand on the washing machine.
Do not lean on or lean anything against the loading door.
It is not recommended to let children use the washing machine on their own.
Pets must not be left unattended near the washing machine.
It is not recommended to open the detergent drawer during washing. This can lead to transfusion of water.
It is recommended to leave the loading door open after each wash to avoid moisture build-up.
It is recommended to close the water supply valve to the machine after each wash.
Do not turn the program selector counterclockwise!
You cannot reset the wash program after the machine has started to wash. This can knock down the automatics of the machine and cause damage.
The body and parts of the washing machine must be periodically wiped off with a cloth dampened with a solution of detergent.
Do not wash the washing machine with a spray bottle or running water.
Do not use chemical solvents or abrasive cleaning powders for washing.
Before washing the washing machine, you must unplug it from the mains.
The container for detergents is removed from the machine and washed under a stream of warm water.
If limescale has formed (due to improper dosage of detergent, heavily contaminated water, etc.), you can clean the washing machine using a plaque remover. In this case, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions for the product used, since such products contain acids. If the washing machine is not treated thoroughly after cleaning, acid residues deposited on the machine parts can cause discoloration of the laundry and even damage the machine parts.
To clean the drum from rust stains left by metal objects that have fallen into the drum, it is recommended that you use cleaning agents that do not contain chlorine.
The condition of the hose should be checked once a year. If there are any signs of damage, the hose must be replaced. The hose is under great pressure when the washing machine is in operation and may burst if damaged.
After washing fluffy items, the drain pump filter must be cleaned.
Before cleaning, make sure that the wash is finished and disconnect the machine from the mains.
When removing the filter, a small amount of water may appear, therefore, it is necessary to prepare a container for collecting water in advance.
