If you need to use curtains of red or deep burgundy to get a creative living room, then you need to use this particular color palette.

Modern fashion trends allow light creative curtains in the photo to be draped, giving bulk to the product.

Curtains are creative for the kitchen, as well as for the bathroom, bedroom and hall, can be attached to eyelets. This is a convenient, functional solution that you can do yourself.

The kitchen or dining room can be decorated with bamboo panels or roll-up options for curtain designs. With your own hands, you can make excellent options for roller blinds from bright fabrics, combining them with plain fabrics.

To choose the most suitable option, you just need to decide on the curtain design model, style and color scheme.

Beads are perfect for decorating curtains

Despite the fact that most designers recommend abandoning the lush decoration of windows, preferring the simplicity and conciseness of minimalism and high-tech styles, many still prefer light, almost airy options in the shabby chic or Provence style.

Floral decor

The first one is characterized by floral prints, lightness and "blur" of color. For curtains, you can make hooks from nylon, organza in the color of the curtains. An interesting solution for the decor of curtains with your own hands is the design of light tulle with fabric flowers - they can be made from ribbons - nylon or organza, decorated with beads and sewn on the bottom of the curtains, making a light drapery.

Embroidery and ruffles

Provence also welcomes light fabrics, floral prints or checkered stripes. Delicate curtains for the kitchen can be made of white cotton, decorating them with cross stitching or satin stitch - small floral motifs, butterflies or birds will decorate the window. You can decorate the curtains with a bright checkered frill, checkered hooks, or make bows from bright fabric and fasten them on top, closer to the curtain.

You can hang these curtains on the door.

Bows, bows

If you are not attracted to traditional curtains, you can choose a more modern option - blinds, roman blinds. If you choose the one-color version, you can decorate them with colored bows by passing the fabric tape on both sides - at the back and in the front of the roll. In the raised state, the blinds hold beautiful bows tied at the bottom. Bows with a width of 8-10 centimeters will look beautiful.

Artificial flowers are perfect for curtains.

Multi-colored curtains perfectly complement the kitchen interior

Bright windows of the nursery

A riot of colors triumphs in the nursery. Additional curtain decor may be superfluous here. However, when ordering curtains, you can additionally order unusual lambrequins. If you want to make curtains "for growth", preferring simple shapes, consider the following options:

  • Filament curtains. You can buy them ready-made, but it's more interesting to do it yourself - then you will choose the color and texture you want.
  • Pickups toys. Lovely animals, sewn or tied with their own hands, gently hug the curtain, not letting it close the window. A button is sewn to one foot, a loop is made on the other.

Additional fabric can be used to decorate curtains by hanging it as in the photo

Such curtains will decorate the interior of the room.

The living room design is made in one color scheme

It's even easier to make picks from an old computer disk:

  • a circle is cut out of the disc with a soldering iron;
  • the circle is wrapped with a satin or nylon ribbon;
  • the resulting hoop can be decorated with artificial flowers, ribbons, a small soft toy;
  • spray the sushi stick or wrap it with satin ribbon. It will help hold the curtain.

Instead of ordinary curtains, you can hang thread

Butterflies, flowers

You can decorate the curtains in the nursery with decorative brooches - butterflies, flowers are attached to the curtains with pins. Decorative items can be attached to the cord directly to the rings on which the curtains are attached.

The curtains will look original, holding on to the curtain with the help of fabric loops (fashion trend!), Decorated with ... huge decorative buttons.

Depending on the style of the room, you can choose a variety of curtain options:

Decor for curtains

Classic, baroque, rococo

Heavy expensive fabrics - silk, velvet, embroidered with gold, silver threads

Lambrequins;

Cords, brushes

Rustic

Natural fabrics close to natural colors

· Simplicity of cut;

· Lace trim;

· Embroidery;

Ruffles, frills

Cotton fabrics, cream or milky background, floral or checkered decor

· Embroidery;

· Pickups;

Minimalism

Solid fabrics or geometric patterns, stripes

· Simple canvases;

· Lack of decorative details;

Fastening on hinges, eyelets or classic - on rings

Window decoration will depend on the style of the room. In the bedroom and living room, both strict curtains made of heavy fabrics and double curtains are acceptable, in which swags, jabots become decorative elements (de jabot is a variant of one-sided folds along the edge of a soft lambrequin).

Tiebacks for curtains

Various hooks will decorate the window:

  • fabric;
  • from a cord with tassels;
  • magnetic - in the form of a brooch, hairpins;
  • in the form of several strands of beads of various diameters.

Hinged mount

The striving for simplicity allows the complete absence of decorative elements on the curtains, but sometimes you want to add some variety to the interior, "dilute" the strict lines. In this case, you can secure the curtains with hinges made of the same fabric as the curtains, or a companion fabric. Loops at the same distance are attached to the curtain and put on a round cornice.

You can fix the loops on the curtain in various ways:

  • velcro;
  • with buttons (including decorative ones);
  • sewing loops directly to the curtain.

It is not necessary to hang curtains of the same color, they can be combined

For curtains, you can make such garters.

Combining

Combined curtains will revive the room in minimalism styles, vintage combined curtains. The curtains of two companion fabrics will harmoniously fit into the interior: checkered and one-colored. Their ratio should be approximately 1: 4.

If you are decorating a room in a Mediterranean style, an interesting combination will create a white and blue striped fabric and a white one-colored one. They can be supplemented with marine-themed decor.

Curtains on eyelets

The cut off upper part (it is possible from the companion fabric) must first be sealed with non-woven fabric, eyelet tape or other materials. Then holes are punched at an equal distance - along the diameter of the cornice - and the eyelets are installed. They can be purchased in hardware stores or outdoor advertising companies - similar ones are installed on street banners.

Fashion trends in window decoration

Striving for simplicity and convenience dictates its own rules for decorating windows. Dyed fabrics, dense, natural materials - linen, cotton, silk, organza are in fashion. The preference of the year is flax and bamboo.

In general, the natural style dominates in interior design and window decoration. Hence the color preferences: close to natural or cold tones:

  • blue;
  • gray;
  • walnut;
  • green;
  • blue-green;
  • brown;
  • yellow brown.

Preference is given to plain materials, and the type of curtains is single-layer. If double curtains are used - tulle or organza in color should be as close as possible to the color of the wallpaper, or slightly brighter. Variants are acceptable when only thin, transparent organza curtains are used. The length of the curtains is made to the floor, even better - with a slight approach to the floor.

The correct choice of curtains, the original design of the windows will make the interior complete, and the decor of the curtains with your own hands will bring comfort to the room, create an atmosphere conducive to relaxation.

Video: Methods for decorating curtains

Curtains are one of the important elements of the interior of any room.

In addition to the decorative design of the space, they are able to perform a useful function, for example, they protect against excessively bright lighting, hide the private life of the owners from outside observers.

Curtain characteristics (length, thickness, texture) can have different options. Moreover, there are also a large number of varieties of fabrics on the modern market. It should be noted that the curtains can be made by hand.

Varieties of curtains

There are natural fabrics that are very popular, but at the same time have several drawbacks, for example, certain varieties can easily wrinkle, and it is not so easy to return them to their original appearance.

In this case, it is better to resort to purchasing mixed varieties, for example, cotton and synthetics are highly practical.

The most common variety is considered to be the traditional classic version. As a rule, it is a hanging tissue without any additional inclusions.

It should be noted that this variety has several significant positive qualities:

  • an excellent solution for any type of interior, while such a modest variety will not clutter up the overall design ideas;
  • any type of material can be used, as well as a color scheme, thickness and ornament;
  • control of the length of the curtains depending on individual preferences;
  • have different cost options depending on individual characteristics.

There are also several types of curtains. So, for example, the vertical type of curtains, which, if necessary, can be assembled into several large folds are called Roman.

As a rule, with the help of such curtains, part of the window space is closed (up to the window sill). They are mainly in demand in kitchens or offices.

Another type of curtains are roller ones. They are attached to the ceiling or window opening.

The principle of operation resembles the previous version, the only difference is that it is not collected in folds, but in rolls.

French curtains are no less popular. Outwardly, they resemble decorations for a theatrical stage due to the presence of scallops at the top.

For the design of modern interiors, the Japanese version is often used. This variety is distinguished by its appearance due to hanging pieces of fabric of increased density. Outwardly, such curtains can resemble elevator doors.

But the Italian curtains can be pulled together with lacing on the sides. It should be noted that many varieties can be made by hand or purchased ready-made options.

What can you make original curtains from?

To create a suitable curtain option, you may need a variety of tools at hand. It is better to use materials of the same type to maintain organicity.

Consider the most unconventional types of curtains.

From disks. For manufacturing, in addition to the main material, you will need a drill and fasteners (you can use tapes, staples or rings). The creation process itself is quite simple.

First of all, it is necessary to divide the outer edge of the disc into 4 parts, equal in size and make holes according to marks. Next, carry out the bonding process. Thus, a classic version can be obtained, triangular or reminiscent of steps. It is better to hang such a curtain with the mirror side in the room.

Using coins. The material itself can be in its original state or be dyed in the most suitable color shade.

The process of creation begins with making holes and creating a kind of chain from the coins. The number of chains depends on the window space.

With beads and beads. Creating this look is similar to the previous option. In this case, a combination with coins is possible.

Application of pieces of various fabrics. Creation is carried out according to the principle of a vertical type of blinds.

At the final stage, it is important to leave a small remainder of the length for subsequent fastening with Velcro.

All these varieties can significantly save your budget and create do-it-yourself curtains with children.

Photos of unusual curtains in the interior

Why is the issue of individual tailoring of curtains still relevant today, because specialized stores are simply overwhelmed with all sorts of options for finished products, ranging from conventional models a la "two absolutely identical rectangles" and ending with intricate "labyrinths" of fabric. And all because we, as women, always want something like this ... This ... Which is not available anywhere and no one else. That's when we rush, first to the fabric warehouses, and then to the nearest atelier. Today I suggest you skip the latter and sew the curtains yourself. So how do you cope with this daunting task of sewing something big without much practice? First you need to decide on the style. Do you want something extraordinary? Let's look at several ways to make your curtains look extraordinary ...

1.Custom mount

Even the simplest and most monochromatic curtains can "play" thanks to some intricate mounting method. Clothespins? Why not?

Curtains with ties at the very eaves look very nice. If necessary, they can be tied with a beautiful bow or simply left to hang picturesquely from the ceiling. For such curtains, you just need to sew on top (at the edge where the curtains will be attached to the cornice) on both sides along the tape (approximately 20 cm long). When securing your piece, simply tie these ribbons around the curtain rod.

2.Unusual material

Do you think that only fabric can be used as a curtain material? Craftsmen have proved that even cork stoppers, bottoms of plastic bottles, cloth napkins, weightless scarves, old tablecloths, paper clips, scraps sewn together, beads and even ... an egg tray are quite suitable for this!

To make an unusual kitchen curtain using an egg tray, you first need to soften it in water (sometimes the trays are even boiled and whipped with a mixer to make the mass more homogeneous). Then, after a while, the mass is squeezed out, glue is added to it and they begin to sculpt beads (the process is very similar to sculpting from clay). The texture of such beads is very original, and the paint lays on them in a peculiar way, especially mother-of-pearl.

Tip: to make the beads easier to string on threads, sculpt them directly onto a wire or a long knitting needle so that the required hole is already inside.

Before coloring the beads, you can treat the material with glue or modeling paste to smooth out the surface a little. But I prefer their "wild" roughness. Remember that after the "tray" mass dries up, it will become unsuitable for sculpting - it will be as hard as plastic. Therefore, sculpt immediately, without delay.

3.Creative curtain model

When it comes to models, you have an endless field of possibilities. You yourself, if you wish, can come up with several original varieties! But if you want to take action right away, then here are a couple of great options ...

Garland

A very simple way to make an original curtain. You don't even have to use fabric for this, paper or cardboard is fine (do you understand why this model has such a name?). Cut out the same circles from the material of your choice and start methodically glue them onto tape, thread or straw. Glue two circles at once (to each other), so that the thread is between them.

Champagne

For this original model, you need: fabric in different colors (preferably pastel and solid) and a stencil for circles (just take a glass 6-7 cm in diameter). Also, do not forget about the fabric to which you will sew the petals themselves. First you need to cut many, many multi-colored circles, and then sew each one separately, as close as possible to each other. It's simple: take one circle, fold it into four and sew it in the middle. Drape the top with "petals" completely and reduce their number towards the bottom of the curtain. Try to make the transition as smooth as possible. Yes, the robot is painstaking and takes a lot of time, but such a curtain looks very, very original!

Pictures

It's a good idea to use old photos as material. But there is one "but" here. Pictures can fade very quickly when exposed to sunlight, so place your work away from a window. Let such a curtain become a curtain over the door. You can attach a photo to a friend with paper clips, thread, staples or glue.

Pleated

One of the nicest curtains I've ever seen! And here is the simplest step-by-step master class ...

People have been accustomed to using curtains in interior decoration since time immemorial. These textiles decorate windows, make the atmosphere in the house cozy and harmonious. Curtains are of different types: classic, Roman, Japanese, French. A huge variety is given by many fabrics of various colors. But what if, with such an impressive selection of traditional models, you still can't find the one that's right for you? In this case, it is the unusual curtains that can successfully emphasize the exclusive design of your home.

Ordinary and unusual curtains - what is the difference

You need new curtains. Would it be better to buy them or make them to order? What should your future curtains look like? For example, the color scheme and style of the interior of the rooms will help to at least roughly determine the color and style of these textiles, but other parameters, such as cut, size, etc., are sometimes difficult to imagine. In any case, before making the desired acquisition, you should understand the theoretical information, and then it will be easier for you to find what you need.

Curtains "Classic"

The most common is the classic textile design of windows. It combines two different materials: transparent and light - for a straight-falling curtain that completely covers the window, and dense, heavy - for curtains located on the sides of the window opening.

Classic curtains are almost universal in use; they are suitable for the design of windows in the bedroom, hall, study, children's room.

This style of curtains involves a certain set of ways to connect the product with the cornice:

  • With ties. This decor element is made from the same material as the curtain, or from the finishing material. The product is hung on the cornice with strings.
  • With loops. The material for these fastening elements is the main or finishing fabric. Loops connect the canvas to the cornice.
  • With a drawstring. It is designed to thread the curtain rod into it to accommodate the curtain fabric.
  • With eyelets. These are rings made of metal or plastic on the upper border of the product, intended for threading a curtain rod through them. The curtain with eyelets is draped with soft beautiful folds and looks unusual and actual.
  • With the help of lambrequins. Lambrequin is a short draped curtain located on top of all elements of the curtain composition near the cornice. It is best suited for rooms with a ceiling height of at least 2.7 m, since it visually makes the ceiling lower.

Classic curtains are draped in several ways:

  • select the density of the material;
  • add an additional padding polyester layer or "blackout" material (blocking out sunlight);
  • regulate the intensity of material assembly;
  • use decorative devices: cords, catches, magnets, etc.

Festoon curtains, or Austrian

For scalloped curtains, the fabric is collected so that transverse folds are obtained. This effect is obtained by placing cords from the seamy side, fixed with rows of loops or rings. In the lowered position, the surface of the curtains becomes smooth with several slight folds on the bottom. Such products from glossy materials, such as silk, taffeta, polyester, cambric, will look beneficial.

Veils are often used to make Austrian curtains. Their lightness and transparency add elegance to the whole atmosphere. Most often, scalloped curtains are chosen for the textile design of a bedroom, living room. Experimental lovers use them in the kitchen interior and in the arrangement of the bathroom.

French curtains (with lifting structure)

The assembly along the entire length on the French-style curtains is always preserved, which distinguishes them from the Austrian ones. The product acquires this effect due to narrow vertical scallops along the entire curtain fabric.

For the manufacture of French curtains, elastic materials are needed so that the fabric drapes beautifully. Batiste, silk (smooth or with a damask pattern) and other materials with similar properties are well suited for these purposes. As for the color palette, all shades of pastel are welcome.

French curtains will perfectly decorate high and wide windows, give your bedroom or hall luxury and solemnity.

Roman curtains

In the way of drapery, Romanesque curtains resemble scalloped ones. But at the same time, Romanesque curtains have a gathered top edge (with a curtain tape). This technique fundamentally changes the curtains: in the extreme upper position, the canvas is softly draped, and semicircular wavy folds remain at the bottom.

London curtains

London curtains are a kind of cascading curtains. In the process of their manufacture, the soft tissue is fixed in the upper position by means of ribbons in the form of a garland.

London curtains stand out from a number of other products of this variety with a characteristic English print. Among them are a Scottish cage, a vertical strip, as well as a small floral pattern (on printed chintz) or a print of lush pink bouquets.

London curtains have a fixed mount to the cornice and serve more for decorative purposes than for operation for its intended purpose.

London-style curtains will be a wonderful decoration for the windows of the kitchen, bathroom and children's room.

Crossed curtains

To obtain this type of curtains, two canvases are connected by upper edges, and the hanging ends are fixed from opposite sides of the window opening. Products are fixedly attached to the rail above the window niche. An interesting variant of crossed curtains is sewn from a single piece of fabric. They can be thrown over the rod of the cornice, and not attached to it.

Based on the fact that the crossed curtains are fixed, fabric that allows light to pass through is selected for their sewing. In addition, the material should be draped with soft folds. These requirements are met by light translucent and transparent fabrics.

Most often, crossed curtains are used to decorate the windows of a bedroom or living room. They gently restrain light from outside, creating unobtrusive natural light that is comfortable for rest and relaxation. For these curtains, materials of muted tones, pastel palette are usually chosen.

Crossed curtains with asymmetrical panels look original (for example, one curtain is shorter than the second). Such models are used to design rooms in which brighter sunlight is acceptable.

Italian curtains

The design of curtains in the Italian style does not imply a complete opening, but a weak tightening of the panels with the help of special cords fixed diagonally at the ends of the cornice. The cords are attached to the rings located on the wrong side. Placement of these curtains is possible on a conventional ledge with rail.

Italian curtains will serve as a worthy decoration for the bedroom, especially if it has high windows.

Curtains in the style of "Cafe"

To place the curtains use a rod located horizontally in the middle of the window. They close the room from prying eyes, but they do not darken it.

Indispensable for equipping a kitchen or shower.

To place the product, you need a curtain rod with a small section bar (10 mm) with a minimum offset. As for the material, there are no special recommendations here - both dense and light fabrics are suitable.

Screen curtains

On the top and bottom of such a curtain there are drawstrings for attaching the product to the window. If the curtain is located in the window opening, then rods are threaded into the drawstring. If the curtain is fixed over the window frame, use rods.

Screen curtains, as a rule, decorate the windows in the bathroom or kitchen.

Curtains "Hourglass"

Another original version of the textile design of a window, door. "Hourglass" will come in handy when decorating a number of neat windows of the greenhouse, veranda and transparent elements of the kitchen cabinet. The curtain is located on small round cornices (using rods or strings pulled into the wings) a few centimeters from the top and bottom of the window niche. The blades are easy to move and collect thanks to the drawstrings at the top and bottom of the blade. In the middle, the curtain can be tied up with all kinds of ribbons, bows, cords, and supplemented with floral arrangements.

Japanese curtains

Japanese-style curtains consist of several perfectly even rectangular panels. Rigid inserts along the rim of the product at the top and bottom allow it not to bend from movement.

Moving easily along a special multi-layer cornice, the panels can be moved apart in different directions from the center or in one of the sides.

Japanese curtains are like a screen or a large screen. They are often chosen for decorating doorways or for dividing a room into living areas.

Roman curtains

Roman blinds are smooth textile fabrics that rise to the upper position with the formation of transverse, superimposed on one another, folds.

There are two types of Roman blinds lifting systems:

  • the rise of the canvas occurs with the formation of folds at the bottom of the curtain, the rest does not change to the very top;
  • when the curtain is raised, the canvas is draped completely (these models are usually more expensive).

The curtains of this variety are practical, they are convenient to use. The scope of their application is associated with this property. They can decorate the windows of a small room; such curtains will not interfere, cling and break off, so they are the best option for the kitchen and children's room. Roman curtains will be very useful where the space in front of the window niche is occupied. They are equally good for both standard and recessed window openings.

Roller blinds

A roller blind is a fabric curtain that, through a simple control system, is wound onto a shaft, and due to this, it is raised and lowered.

The curtain device allows you to lower and fix it at the desired level.

A roll of curtains makes it possible to change the degree of penetration of sunlight at will.

If light-protective fabric is used for sewing roller blinds, they can completely eliminate the penetration of sunlight into the room.

Bamboo curtains

Such curtains are obtained by weaving sticks from bamboo with threads of natural origin.

The curtain can be lowered and raised. Lifting is possible in two ways: twisting with a cord - like a roller blind, lifting with the formation of folds - like a Roman blind.

Bamboo curtains make the design sophisticated and exclusive, giving the interior the sophistication of the East. Despite the naturalness, bamboo sticks are not subject to the negative effects of moisture and the sun.

Bamboo curtains are made using two weaving methods:

  • gluing sticks together (matchstick method);
  • complex weaving of thick stems of bamboo with thin threads.

Curtains successfully complement the decor in a country style, go well with furniture and other wood items.

Chinese curtains

Chinese curtains are designed primarily to "hide" the unsightly view from the window.

To make a curtain in the Chinese style, you need a fabric cloth the size of a window opening. On its upper edge, a narrow strip of material, which contrasts with the main fabric, is fixed from the face and inside. It is intended both for decoration and for adjusting the length of the curtain.

Some models have a weighting element at the bottom of the main blade. In this case, the curtain rises, collecting in the form of a roll. Models without weight rise with the formation of soft folds. Chinese-style curtains are usually made from translucent colored fabrics.

Chinese curtains should not be combined with any other type of curtain.

Pleated curtains

Pleated blinds are externally similar to horizontal blinds.

When making curtains of this type, the pleated fabric is attached to a special profile. Raising the curtain with the formation of dense folds occurs due to the attached chain, cord or electric drive. Due to the small dimensions of the fastening profile, the curtain is almost invisible in the uppermost position.

The direct purpose of pleated curtains is to protect the home from the bright sun. Curtains muffle daylight, give a slight shade, filling the atmosphere of the room with coziness and comfort. For the manufacture of this type of curtains use special materials that are resistant to sunlight.

Pleated curtains do not require special care. After soaking in warm water and rinsing, they should be placed to dry immediately in the same place.

Jalousie

Blinds are a product made of transverse or longitudinal plates (lamellas) designed to limit the penetration of sunlight into the house.

Plates for blinds are textile, plastic, wood, metal.

Blinds have unlimited compatibility with other curtain models. So, in the living room, windows decorated with soft curtains or lambrequins in combination with blinds will look great.

Rope curtains

Threads serve as the material for rope curtains. Different types of threads are used to produce various models: curtains from the "rain" thread, muslin, beads, as well as cotton curtains. The interior, complemented by rope curtains, always turns out to be unusual, with a slight shade of mystery.

Such curtains dim the lighting a little without obstructing the movement of air. Rope curtains are placed both on windows and doors, combining all sorts of shades and shapes, which gives the atmosphere a lightness, soft shimmer and sophistication.

Curtains "rain" often decorate children's rooms, kitchens, becoming a worthy alternative to traditional tulle. Beaded curtains are used to delimit the zones of the living space.

The above classification of curtains is traditional. Such models are found all the time in various interiors. However, the listed types of curtains are an excellent basis for creating unusual, exclusive products, you just need to give them individual features.
