Corner kitchen project 3 3. Design of a small kitchen: advice on arrangement, practical and cozy solutions. Choice of colors

The disadvantage of many apartments, especially those built in Soviet times, is a small kitchen. Indeed, on an area of 9 square meters it is difficult to "roam", but this does not mean that there is no way to transform kitchens 3x3 meters. Moreover, in a sense, it is even easier to equip them, because there is a clear task - to achieve maximum practicality in combination with an aesthetically attractive appearance.

Looking at what a 3 by 3 meter kitchen design can be in a photo on the Web or in specialized magazines, it is easy to understand that a small room can be incredibly stylish! At least, if you are not too lazy and make an effort to choose the optimal arrangement of objects and surface design. In most cases, nine-meter rooms are straight kitchens, that is, all the elements in them are located along one of the walls. However, this is not the only option.

Attention! When setting up a small room, you need to pay attention to the smallest details, including the style composition, the shades used, the location of the lighting fixtures and the configuration of the furniture.

Secrets of competent zoning

Since there is not much space, the design of a 3 by 3 meter kitchen in any case involves dividing the space into several parts, each of which must perform a specific function. One area should be working so that you can cook different dishes, and the other should be used as a place for eating. If the shape of the room allows, then the design of the kitchen 3 by 3 meters can be supplemented with an area for storing all kinds of utensils, cutlery and crockery.

Owners have the opportunity to divide the area in several ways:

 • using different lighting systems - for example, you can hang over the place for a meal, and place spotlights over the stove. In combination with elegant furniture, such interiors look very impressive, as can be seen from the photo of direct kitchens with diverse lighting;
 • due to different colors - it all depends on your imagination and creativity, although it is better to avoid too bright contrasts;
 • by using different finishing materials - tiles can be laid in the working area, and laminate in the dining area;

Important! It should be remembered that the surfaces in this room are subject to increased operational loads. That is, you need to choose materials that are resistant to high humidity and mechanical stress.

 • which can also be used for culinary experiments. Nowadays, additional structures can often be seen in the design of kitchens 3 by 3 meters - from the photo you can determine whether you like this zoning method.

Good arrangement of items

In addition to traditional direct kitchens, in which the sink, stove and refrigerator are on the same side, the arrangement of appliances and furniture can be:

 • in 2 rows (chairs and a table on one side, and equipment on the other);
 • angular or in the shape of the letter G;
 • U-shaped, in which the oven and sink are located under the window;
 • island - this option is suitable only if the room has a square shape.

Each color is good in its own way

In general, if you look at various photos of straight and two-row kitchens 3x3 meters, it becomes clear that you can use both dark and light colors. All shades have certain pros and cons, so you need to choose what you like.

Most of our kitchens leave much to be desired in terms of size. However, do not despair, because from any, even the smallest room, you can make a stylish giant.

So let's make the 3 by 3 kitchen design original, unusual and interesting.

Color solution

It has long been known that it is the color that affects our consciousness, oppresses or stimulates it. Therefore, the choice of color should be approached thoroughly. After all, the kitchen is one of the most visited places in the house and our mood for the next few hours depends on it.

In this photo we see the wrong color of the refrigerator.

Advice! Red and the shades closest to it induce appetite. And bright blue, on the contrary, will help reduce appetite, which is suitable for people on a diet.

When choosing a color, it is worth remembering:

 • Light colors visually increase the volume, while dark ones, on the contrary;
 • Light colors are more reflective than dark ones, which helps to cope with the lack of light;
 • Simple paintings such as trees and branches can also visually expand the space.

Lighting

When playing with light, you can achieve interesting effects. After all, light can be of various shades. Consider the options:

 • Energy-saving lamps;
 • Fluorescent lamps;
 • Halogen lamps;
 • LED strips.

Advice! Incandescent lamps, in the common people "Ilyich's light bulbs", should not be considered, not only because of their inefficiency, but also because they are prohibited by law in some European countries.

It is worth noting that if you have low ceilings (for example, suspended), you will have to abandon classic lamps, because no one wants to look up every time so as not to accidentally catch on.

Energy saving lamps, like halogen lamps, have a different degree of luminescence:

 • 2700K - Warmer light;
 • 3200K - regular LON;
 • 4200K - daylight;
 • 6400K is a colder light.

Of course, these are just the most common color temperatures. When choosing a light, you should, first of all, combine it with the choice of color. Those. warm light will only distort the elegance of the black color of the headset.

Often the hostess needs additional lighting directly in the working area; the design of the 3m by 3m kitchen will not suffer at all. For this, halogen spotlights are perfect, which can be easily mounted directly into furniture. Also, simple fluorescent lamps are suitable for this.

Designer options

Nobody forbids combining lighting means.

So, for example, you can highlight the main options for designers:

 • Lighting is provided by one lamp on the ceiling, a classic version.
 • The ceiling lamp illuminates the table and chairs, the spot lamp illuminates the entire hostess's workplace.
 • Lighting is possible with a completely single luminaire, or with halogen lamps distributed over the entire ceiling. The ability to include separately and together.
 • Adding to any of the previous LED strip options.

Using an LED strip as a complete lighting is problematic, but solvable. Moreover, it will give not only an original design, but also provide an opportunity to spend romantic evenings.

At the same time, the price is more than offset by pleasant surprise when turned on. She is mounted with her own hands easily and quickly.

Interior

There are many options for interior planning, let's focus on the so-called L-shaped. Its meaning lies in the fact that it creates ideal work efficiency, storage - cutting - cooking, in a square kitchen.

The surfaces for working in it adjoin at right angles, while the sides should be 3 by 1.5-2 meters (the design of the kitchen 3 m by 3 m provides for the filling of the entire wall with furniture), depending on the window and door. What it looks like:

 1. Refrigerator (storage)
 2. Washing (cutting)
 3. Stove (cooking)
 4. Working space

Here the instruction is simple:

 • The stove is placed closer to the sink, and the distance between them should not exceed 1m.
 • The refrigerator should not be too far from the sink, but for our 3 by 3 kitchen this does not threaten.
 • If the sink is on a corner, you will need to swap the stove and refrigerator.

Most of the housing stock in our country is Soviet-era apartments, in which kitchens, as a rule, have an area of 9-10 square meters. At first glance, this is very little, however, if you correctly design a kitchen design 3 by 3 meters, then even such a room will turn out to be spacious, comfortable and attractive. Therefore, in this article I will share with you some rules and secrets from professional designers that will allow you to achieve positive results in solving this problem.

Design features

The successful design of any room, including a small kitchen, depends on a number of factors:

Below we will consider all these points in more detail.

Design style

As you know, one of the main rules of design is that all interior elements must correspond to a certain style. Therefore, you need to start by choosing a design direction.

Of course, it is necessary to be guided, first of all, by one's own taste. However, it should be borne in mind that all kinds of luxurious in small rooms look ridiculous.

Therefore, it is better to choose from laconic directions, such as:

 • high tech;
 • minimalism;
 • traditional style;
 • modern, etc.

In general, the simpler the style, the better it will look in a small kitchen.

To determine the style of design and the arrangement of furniture, you can draw up a three-dimensional project in programs such as "Interior Design 3D", "Home Plan Pro".

Color palette

When choosing a color palette for a 3 by 3 kitchen, remember the main rule - dark tones visually reduce the space, and light ones, on the contrary, increase. Therefore, it is better to give preference to light colors, especially for wall decoration.

Of course, a light color is not necessarily pure white.

You can also use different pastel colors, for example:

 • cream;
 • light pink;
 • soft blue;
 • delicate shades of yellow or orange;
 • light gray.

If you still want to use dark colors, then it is better to use them in furniture, for example, you can use a contrasting kitchen set.

Also, so that the interior of the 3 by 3 meter kitchen does not look dull and boring, you can decorate one of the walls with a bright color. In addition, furniture with bright facades looks modern and original.

When it comes to the color palette of the floor, light shades of woody texture are an excellent choice. Those. linoleum and other wood-textured materials can be used as flooring.

Room layout

For the kitchen to be practical and convenient, it is extremely important to correctly arrange all the interior items.

To do this, the space must be divided into several zones:

 • cooking area;
 • dinner Zone;
 • storage area for inventory.

Items should be positioned so that when cooking or performing other work, you do not have to constantly move from one area to another. For example, for a convenient and compact arrangement of elements, you can combine a sink, a work area and a hob with one worktop.

It is advisable to place the cupboard near the sink, and it is better to hang the shelf for the dishes above the sink.

Furniture

Kitchen furniture should be as functional as possible and at the same time compact. The main task in choosing it is to make sure that every centimeter of the kitchen space is used with benefit.

Therefore, corner cabinets and L-shaped furniture that can be placed along the walls are a good option.

Corner furniture will fit well only in a square kitchen. If the room in 9 squares is elongated, then it is better to refuse such a solution.

As for the choice of appliances, you can use compact models specially designed for small kitchens.

This technique includes:

 • two-three-burner hobs;
 • mini fridges;
 • ovens built into furniture;
 • wall-mounted microwave ovens, etc.

Compact models allow you to install all the appliances you need in the kitchen, and at the same time not "clutter up" the room.

Decor

Many people do not pay enough attention to the decor, but in vain, since with its help you can radically change the design of a 3 by 3 kitchen, or rather, its perception. The only thing is that you need to use the decor correctly so that the decoration emphasizes the elegance of the design, serves as its accent, but, at the same time, does not look clumsy in the interior.

As examples, below are some popular small kitchen decorating ideas:

 • clock - are primarily a functional element that is essential in any kitchen. If the room is decorated in calm light colors, then you can hang a large and bright clock on the wall, which will add some variety to the interior;
 • curtains or curtains - in a small kitchen, it is better to use translucent, airy curtains or curtains. Roman shades are also a good option. Curtains should be used so that they only frame the window opening, and do not completely obscure it;

 • pictures within - these can be photographs or pictures in the art deco style. They should be placed vertically on an “empty” wall. I must say that with such a decor, even the simplest and most inconspicuous design will look original;
 • mirrors - this decor element allows not only to decorate the room, but also to visually expand it I must say that mirrors do not have to be used traditionally in the interior - they should be hung on the wall in frames. You can lay out an imitation of brickwork from mirror tiles or make an apron in the form of a mirror mosaic.

You can also come up with your own ideas or even make your own decor. The main thing is that it fits into the interior design and meets the above requirements. You can find other ideas for decorating the kitchen on our portal, in the corresponding section.

Lighting

Lighting plays an important role in the visual perception of design, especially for small kitchens. Therefore, first of all, you should take care that furniture or other interior items do not obscure the light falling from the windows.

In addition, artificial lighting needs to be considered. In small kitchens, it is better to use spotlights located around the perimeter of the ceiling.

In addition, it is advisable to use illumination of functional areas such as countertops. To do this, you can use appliances built into wall cabinets or small, adjustable lamps that are attached to the wall.

If you decide to install a central light source, for example, above the dining area, then it is better to give preference to a multi-lamp chandelier, which will provide uniform diffused light.

Design secrets

Finally, I will share with you some design secrets that allow you to make a room visually more spacious and attractive:

 • avoid patterns on the walls, especially large ornaments or floral designs, as they bring the walls closer and thus make the room smaller. If you want to see a drawing on the walls, then it is better to give preference to a small embossed ornament;
 • do not use many colors in wall decoration. Two or three shades will be enough;
 • use as many glossy surfaces as possible that reflect light. For example, glossy ceramic tiles can be used for wall decoration, and laminate on the floor.

The same applies to furniture, for example, a dining table can be placed in general glass. It not only looks beautiful, but also visually takes up much less space than, for example, a wooden one. The price of such a table starts at 6,000 rubles;

 • a great way to decorate the interior and at the same time expand the kitchen space is to use a photo wallpaper with perspective. With their help, you can select the dining area;
 • if the kitchen has low ceilings, hanging cabinets should be hung up to the ceiling, and curtain rods - on the contrary, lower.
 • as mentioned above, a great way to expand your space is to use mirrors.

Output

Making a kitchen design measuring 3 by 3 meters requires a special approach, and adherence to some rules. However, by adhering to the above recommendations, you can independently make even such a small kitchen visually attractive and comfortable.

In a room with an area of 9 squares, you can organize a completely cozy and functional kitchen. Convenience comes first. The hostess should be able to find the desired item in the kitchen at any time. She should not be disturbed by open furniture doors or low cabinets. Therefore, before you start developing the design and interior of a 3 by 3 meter kitchen, you should draw up a work plan and view photos of finished objects.

Areas of work

The interior of the room can be thought over separately for the following elements:

 • furniture;
 • appliances;
 • work zone;
 • recreation and eating area.

Let's consider each component in more detail.

Headset

Incorrect placement of furniture in the kitchen can ruin the final result. One of the walls will be occupied by the front door, and the other by the window. You can think over the design of the kitchen so that the entire set is placed along one wall or used in the kitchen corner furniture. The less space on the small wall is occupied, the better.

The larger the family, the more often you have to cook. In this case, the design of the kitchen should be considered taking into account the long countertop along the wall. Then, visually, the kitchen will be divided into a working and eating area. But if only one person lives in the apartment, then a small area of the room can be allocated for the working area.

Appliances

It is better to locate small equipment in a separate place so that there is free access to it. It is also important to arrange outlets for each element so that electrical wires do not lie on or under the table. For example, do not disconnect a popular microwave oven from the network at all.

Important! Electrical appliances should be located away from the sink.

Arrangement of furniture and appliances

 • Traditional: a sink, stove and refrigerator are located along one wall.

 • Parallel: appliances on one side, dining area on the other.

 • Corner;

 • "U" -shaped: an oven with a sink is located under the window.

Zoning

When designing the interior of a small kitchen, you need to pay attention to details, correctly use color shades and furniture configuration. Although the area is not large, you will have to visually divide the space.

The resting and eating area should begin immediately after the working area. You should consider the design of a kitchen with a bar counter or countertop. The second option is to install a couch and a table. If you think over the interior correctly, then additional meters can be used to store utensils, cutlery and dishes.

The kitchen can be visually divided using:

 • Lighting systems. You can hang a chandelier above the table, and spotlights above the stove. In combination with elegant furniture, such an interior will look very impressive.

 • Flowers . It is best to avoid bright contrasts in the kitchen. But pastel shades will visually increase the area of the room.

 • Various finishing materials... You can divide the room with the help of flooring, laying tiles in the work area and laminate in the dining area.

Color palette

The color of the furniture walls affects not only the design of the room, but also the appetite. In a small kitchen, it is better to use beige, light brown and yellow tones. Blue, green and purple do not evoke a head feeling. They should only be used if the kitchen is to be separated from the dining room.

Designers agree that yellow is a friendly shade that creates a positive mood. A room with yellow walls can be decorated in any style and with any equipment.

White kitchen symbolizes the beginning of something new and unusual. For those who are afraid to create a boring atmosphere, designers are advised to dilute the color with bright inserts in the form of textiles, kitchen utensils or paintings.

Brown color symbolizes the origin of nature. This is the most popular shade among furniture manufacturers. You can choose a headset for any style of room.

Red Is a trendy color. But for a small room, it is better to apply it locally.

Blue causes a decrease in appetite. Therefore, it should be used either locally or exclusively in light shades.

The following designer tips will help you create the perfect interior:

 • to visually expand the area, it is better to use mirrors;
 • beautiful textiles will help make the interior original;
 • it is advisable to use blinds on the windows, and install an arch instead of a door.

Lighting

In a room with low ceilings, classic lamps will have to be abandoned so as not to cling to them with your head every time. Soviet incandescent lamps are not only ineffective, but in some European countries they are prohibited by law.

In a modern interior, it is better to use halogen lamps. First, these are energy-saving sources of light. Secondly, it is possible to choose a light bulb with warm (2700K), daylight (4200K) or cold (6400K) light. And these are just the most common temperatures!

Light must be combined with the color scheme of the kitchen. Otherwise, warm rays will distort the perception of an elegant black kitchen. Halogen bulbs can be used not only as the main light source, but also to highlight the work area.

Beautiful kitchen design 3 by 3 (9 square meters) (2 videos)

Dimensions: 3.3 sq. M.

Motto: Make a living room and keep two separate rooms for yourself and the children

Having estimated the plans for the arrangement of furniture, we came to the conclusion that this is too much for the kitchen (especially considering that the remaining 2 living rooms are smaller in area), but for the kitchen-living room it is still not enough.

Then we began to think, how could we be so perverted to make a living room, and two separate rooms for ourselves and the children, and allocate a place for cooking. At that time, the apartment had a huge entrance hall with an area of 15.6 sq.m. It was decided to move the working area of the kitchen into it, and give the vacant room to the dining room-living room.

We invited a designer to implement our plans. The result pleased us indescribably and still makes us happy. Of course, there are drawbacks in this arrangement, but the resulting 3-room apartment completely outweighs them. All redevelopment with us is legal and officially registered.

So, I will tell you more about the structure of our kitchen. Area - 3.3 sq.m. The kitchen is separated from the apartment by a low partition, from the hallway by a narrow wall.

On one side there is a sink, a place for a dishwasher 45 cm wide (which is not yet available, and the door is attached for a photo), a built-in hob with an oven (which is also not yet there, but a microwave is temporarily in its place) and a cargo cabinet for bottles and spices.

The facades are made of plastic. The lower ones are muted red with “marbled” stains - quite practical, non-marking. The upper ones are glossy white and matte glass.

There is a small work area between the sink and the stove, which is usually enough for me to cook a regular lunch-dinner. It's very convenient for me that the stove and sink are very close.

Above there are two spacious hanging cabinets up to the ceiling.

With my height, the upper shelves can only be reached with a stepladder, so very rarely used things will be stacked there. An extractor hood is built into the cabinet above the stove, which takes up a lot of space, so small things are mostly stored there, also there are transformers from LED strips that illuminate the kitchen. The niche in the ceiling with these tapes is covered with a translucent stretch ceiling.

On the opposite side, through a narrow passage (which, however, is enough for 2 people to pass) there is a work surface, and under it are spacious drawers for pots, cereals, and kitchen utensils.

I don't know if it was worth showing the insides of the lockers, but I will show you at least so that you can appreciate the spaciousness. As you can see, they are still half empty.

The refrigerator was placed in the hallway. There are also shelves in the closet for storing cans with seaming and large rarely used equipment that you don't want to stuff on the upper shelves, for example, double boiler, meat grinder and sandwich makers.

The cabinet door seems narrow, but the shelves themselves go another 40 cm to the right behind the wall. The refrigerator, by the way, is planned to be replaced in the future for a hinged two-door, it will be wider, which can be seen from the niche left for it.

In some ways, my kitchen isn't finished yet. So, it should still have a dishwasher, an oven and mirror skins with railing. Mirror skins will reflect light and visually expand the space.

It will look something like this (image from a design project). Initially, I thought about a green kitchen, but while the essence is yes, I changed my mind and decided on a shade of red.

The dishwasher and oven are not coming soon. In the role of an oven, a multicooker is still working. The microwave will move to the opposite table - to where the kettle is now, or perhaps we will abandon it altogether, I have not yet decided.

If we decide to leave, then put the kettle on it. Skinali and railing should appear in the near future, and if the contractors had not let us down, they would have been ready.

The dining area is located respectively in the dining room. It's not finished yet. Roughly it will look like in the photo on the left, but for now we have what is in the photo on the right.

To someone, of course, my kitchen will seem too small and possibly uncomfortable.

The disadvantages of my kitchen could be artificial lighting - because of it, the quality of the photos was not so good, and the high upper shelves. But even if the kitchen remained in the same place, the lighting would be mostly artificial, because our apartment itself is a bit dark - outside the windows of the square.

And my height does not allow me to reach even the top shelves of standard cabinets, or up to the second shelf of mine, i.e. using a stepladder would have been necessary anyway.

So for six months of use, I see only one drawback for myself - frequent cleaning of floors, tk. next to the hallway. But I don’t have to wind kilometers through the kitchen from one cabinet to another - I have everything at arm's length.

In addition, I am one of those who do not really like to cook and spend a lot of time in the kitchen. We do not have warehouses, only what is needed for a family + for the rare few guests. Therefore, the area of the work surface and cabinets is enough for me. The highlight of my kitchen is its compactness.
