We sew an organizer for linen. Organizer for linen from available materials - a master class. Fabric organizer

Every housewife is definitely familiar with the situation when, opening a drawer with linen, they find there not neatly aligned piles of things, but complete chaos. This happens because of the most delicate material from which underwear, socks and tights are made. The finest lace and the most delicate nylon do not hold their shape and flow not only over the body, but also over the chest of drawers, creating a mess there. Over and over again you have to rearrange things, returning order. Do-it-yourself laundry organizer can solve this problem.

This practical and elegant storage will make all your things stay strictly in their place and not mix up like a gin.

Linen house made of cardboard

A ready-made laundry organizer can be bought in a store, but it is much more pleasant and more creative to make it on your own. Plus, it's a less costly way to get your bag.

Boxes for storing linen can be textile or cardboard. This is the individual preference of each individual person.

A simple master class on making a cardboard lingerie organizer will inspire the creation of this storage.

To create a product, we need any boxes. These can be packages for shoes, household appliances or toys.

The size of the future linen chest depends on the place where it will be located. Based on this, we choose a suitable box or glue it ourselves.

Also for work you will need:

  1. Paper for decorating the box: old wallpaper, newspapers, pages of a music book, sheets from glossy magazines, colored paper;
  2. Long ruler. It is more convenient to use than a tool with a short length;
  3. PVA brush and glue;
  4. Stapler with staples;
  5. Simple pencil;
  6. A utility knife or sharp scissors.

We start tinkering. First, let's think about how many things will be stored in this box. The number of cells into which we will divide the organizer depends on this.

Based on the size of the cabinet where the linen chest will be stored, we determine the height of the box. We measure out the desired one, and cut off the excess with scissors.

Do not throw away the rest of the box. They are useful for making partitions. The lid will also serve this purpose. The optimal mesh size is 7 × 7 cm or 8 × 8 cm. Guided by these data, we mark the box and cut out blanks for the walls.

We decorate the details at our discretion. A box covered with old newspaper clippings or sheet music will look spectacular. For a classic strict design, you can choose a plain wallpaper.

The box itself is also pasted over to match the partitions. It is better to choose wear-resistant paper for decoration. A bright and contrasting design with several colors and paper textures will look interesting and unusual. It is better to start work from the sides, and end up with the bottom.

We decorate the outer side of the organizer with scrap paper, cloth or dense packing material. Small allowances and folds from paper of a different quality and color look beautiful.

From the blanks for the cells, we assemble the lattice. To do this, make cuts on the parts to the middle of the height and connect them as shown in the photo.

We insert the lattice into the box and fix it with a stapler or glue. The product is ready!

The video will help to answer the questions that arise when making a linen organizer with your own hands.

Organizer from ribbons

If, for some reason, the storage for stockings and tights made from boxes turned out to be short-lived, you can make a more practical design - an organizer made of fabric.

The advantages of this product will be that it is durable, takes up a minimum of space in the closet, is mobile and will fit any shelf.

For work, you need a strong bright fabric for the base; fabric of lower density in a different color for partitions; synthetic winterizer; decorative edging.

Let's proceed to step by step instructions. Cut out two rectangles. One is made of padding polyester, and the second is made of fabric for the base. Their dimensions should be smaller than the area of the box so that the future box does not wrinkle. Sewing on long storage partitions. To do this, they are sewn onto the base on rectangles made of contrasting fabric. In length they are the same as the base, and in width - twice the walls of the box. We sew the blanks in the middle, folding them so that the seam is inside. You will get a double partition.

Let's draw a wall based on the number of cells that you need.

Sew on the rectangles, making an indent from the edge by 1.5 cm.

We sew transverse partitions from fabric folded in half. Turn out, iron.

We sew small blanks together.

We sew the sides for the future organizer and grind them to the product.

We decorate the top and ends of the finished box with braid.

The finished organizer can be used for its intended purpose.

Laundry organizer - a convenient thing in every home, because now all the linen is in its place, and finding something you need will not be a problem. And in general, order in the house should be in everything, it makes our life much easier. Today we'll show everyone how to do this simple and very useful thing.

How to make an organizer yourself?

Organizer is primarily a box. And so, for work we need:

Thick cardboard for partitions

Box

Upholstery fabric

Pencil

Sewing machine

Scissors

Ruler

If there is no sewing machine, we can sew all the details by hand.

Let's get started!

To get a general picture of the future organizer, let's write a little about it. An organizer is a box that contains many pockets for laundry. If we do not have a box, we can make it ourselves, but if there is, then it remains to make, only a partition for him.

1 ... First of all, we need to calculate the size of the box from which we will make our organizer. Then calculate at what distance the partitions will be, and make them out of thick cardboard.

2. Now we need to trim them with fabric. First, we measure it. Fabrics should be measured more than the cardboard itself to make it easier to sew. In our case, we will sew several partitions at once into one, so that in the future it will be easier to insert and fix them together.

3. We carefully trim the cardboard.

4. Now we need to connect all the partitions together, they can simply be sewn. As a result, we should get the following template:

5 ... The box can also be sheathed with the same fabric, after which we insert partitions into it.

6 ... By fixing the partitions in the box, we get a ready-made organizer, which can already be used for its intended purpose!

Those who are madly in love with order in everything, including the linen drawer of their closet, simply cannot do without an organizer for linen, in which each thing occupies strictly its own cell. In the master class, we will show one of the options how you can sew a linen organizer with your own hands.

The first thing we do is take measurements from the drawer in which the underwear will be stored to build an organizer pattern. We received the dimensions of the box 75 cm long, 43 cm wide and 13 cm high.

In order to sew a laundry organizer, we need this:

  • blue dense fabric;
  • thinner fabric of variegated colors;
  • synthetic winterizer;
  • wide white tape for the edges.

Now let's start sewing a laundry organizer.

  1. Cut out two rectangles from synthetic winterizer and blue dense fabric, slightly smaller in size than the dimensions of the box. We cut 74 cm long and 42 cm wide so that the organizer does not deform.

  • Sew long rectangles of two colors onto the synthetic winterizer rectangle. The length of the rectangles should be equal to the base, while the width should be twice the height of the box. These will be the longitudinal partitions of the laundry organizer.
  • We sew the rectangles in the middle, then fold them together so that the seam is from the inside, and we have a double partition

  • Determine the length and number of cells in the linen organizer, draw a blank.

    Attaching large rectangular partitions, leave the edges unstitched by 1 - 1.5 cm, we will need this in the future.

  • Now let's take care of the small partitions. We calculate their sizes - we make the width with a margin in the form of allowances for the seams, but the height, on the contrary, we make a little less.
  • To make the partitions stable, we will make them from double fabric. So, we sew all the partitions and turn them out onto the front side.

  • The time has come for the most painstaking work - in turn, we sew each small partition on one side and the other. We advise you to do it manually.

    Now let's return to the unstitched edges of the long partitions. Sew the two halves, steam, hide the seam inside and sew again

  • The top of the short and long partitions will be edged with a wide white braid.
  • Now we can sew the main rectangular walls around the perimeter of the future organizer.

  • 12. Next, sew the edges of the long partitions to the side walls, it is advisable to do it by hand - this will be both neat and easier.

    13. Let's take care of the outer corners of the organizer for linen. We trim them in height, cut off the protruding fabric, if any, and process the corner with a white ribbon. We will do the same with the other three corners.

    14. And now, finally, back to the big blue rectangle cut out and set aside at the very beginning. This blank will be the bottom of our laundry organizer. We carefully attach it to the synthetic winterizer along the perimeter of the future product. You can sew with any of the seams, we used a zigzag so that the threads from the cuts do not interfere with further work.

    Well, in the end, we will process the edges of the finished bottom with white tape. We pre-sew the braid with a basting seam or pin it with pins so that it is evenly spaced, we pay special attention to the corners - they are the most difficult to work with. After making sure that the braid is located nicely and evenly, we attach it with a typewriter.

    Required materials and tools:
    - box (you can use a box for shoes or small household appliances) - a frame for the future organizer. In order for the organizer to be strong, it is better to use a box made of thick, thick cardboard.
    - cardboard;
    - a piece of fabric for finishing;
    - scissors;
    - Ruler and pencil;
    - threads (for internal seams and finishing of external cuts) and needles;
    - PVA glue.

    Stages robots:
    1. Prepare all materials required for the master class. The manufacturing process will be more pleasant and faster if everything you need is at hand. It is better to use the fabric from a dense fabric. It is better to choose the color of the fabric so that there is no need to wash organizer covers too often.

    2. First of all, you need to decide how many cells you need. Be sure to check if the size you choose is right for your laundry. It should be borne in mind that the sizes of men's and women's underwear differ significantly. At the bottom of the box, draw a grid for future cells. Depending on the size and number of cells, it is worth calculating how many parts you need. Cut out details for the organizer partitions from thick cardboard. Make slots on the finished parts to fasten the partitions. Fold the finished parts in the form of a grid.

    3. Using partitions, cut the fabric pieces. Make allowances at the edges to keep the edges neat. Glue the finished partitions with a cloth using PVA glue. Leave the partitions to dry under pressure overnight. When the partitions are completely dry, trim off excess edges and threads. Cut the slots in the partitions to connect the cells. Pva glue perfectly binds fabric and paper or cardboard, leaving no marks on the fabric. Super glue can leave dark marks on fabrics. PVA glue is not toxic, so it is not necessary to use gloves during work, and it will not wear any danger to your underwear.

    4. We sew an outer cover for the organizer. Measure the box. Using a pencil on the fabric, draw a rectangle that will match the size of the box (cover the bottom and outer walls). To make sewing more comfortable, the folds of the fabric can be ironed with an iron. From the seamy side, sew the fabric with a regular basting stitch in the form of a cover. It is not necessary to process the outer edges of the cover, the edges will be covered by the inner cover. At the cut of the fabric for the future cover, cut off the excess fabric that is formed when the cover is sewn.

    5. We sew the inner cover for the organizer. We sew the inner cover in the same way as the outer cover.
    6. The outer edges of the inner cover should be overcast with decorative threads. This will protect the fabric from spilling out of threads and give the cover a completeness and neatness.

    To prevent small things from rubbing in the closet, it is better to store them in separate boxes or drawers. The organizer for socks and panties is a convenient accessory for underwear. With its help, you can organize all the "small things" and distribute by color, so that it is more convenient to look for the right thing.

    What can be organizers for linen

    You can make a do-it-yourself laundry organizer from fabric, plastic, wood or a cardboard box.

    An organizer for panties and socks significantly reduces the time to find a pair or the right set. In addition, it allows you to keep your closet or dresser tidy. Such a device will allow you to separate underwear and streamline children's, women's and men's.

    Laundry organizer

    Organizers are divided into several classifications:

    1. By the type of material from which they are made:
    • you won't be able to make plastic ones on your own, but ordering on the Internet is easy (on the aliexpress website you can find hundreds of different organizers made of polymers);
    • wooden ones can be purchased ready-made, which are embedded in the drawers of the chest of drawers, or made on their own, if you have materials and the necessary tools at hand;
    • cardboard can be made from boxes or foxes of cardboard;
    • fabric - sewn from dense material, often from denim.

    Wood organizer
    1. By the type of mounting the unit in the cabinet:
    • vertical (suspended) - installed in a closet and made of fabric or dense polyethylene, at the base of their hangers for ease of placement;
    • horizontal - most often they are made of cardboard or ready-made cells are bought in a cabinet.

    Note! If you sew an organizer from old jeans, it is recommended to boil them in boiling water beforehand so that they do not fade.

    What you need to make your own hands from fabric

    To make a do-it-yourself sock organizer, you will need the following materials and tools:

    • cardboard boxes or large sheets of cardboard;
    • cloth (you can shreds);
    • glue, it is better to use a silicone gun;
    • wallpaper or sheets from magazines to decorate the organizer;
    • a ruler and pencil to measure and mark everything exactly.

    You can make a do-it-yourself pantyhose organizer from a shoe box. Household appliances boxes are also suitable. The main thing is that there is a base in which cells for linen will be installed later.

    The number and size of the cells are prepared at will. You can store one item in each compartment, or arrange them by color. For example, one compartment will store white panties, the second - black socks, etc. For small children, it is better to put one thing in each cell, so that it is more convenient for the baby to take clean linen on his own, without outside help.

    How to sew a do-it-yourself laundry organizer from fabric

    You can not buy an organizer for tights, panties and bras, but do it yourself. This has some advantages: firstly, you can build a structure of the desired size. Secondly, available means are used and there is no need to spend money. Thirdly, a homemade organizer can be decorated as you wish, made in any color.

    Fabric organizer

    The laundry organizer (36 × 36 × 8 cm) is made as follows:

    1. First you need to draw a drawing in order to correctly calculate the length of the stripes. For example, the organizer will have 8 cells 9 × 9 cm and 4 cells 8 × 18 cm (it is convenient to use for storing bras. The length of the overall structure will be 36 cm, due to which it will be convenient to place it in a drawer of a dresser or wardrobe.
    2. When the project is drawn, it is easy to calculate how long the strips for the partitions should be. The first partition is attached from the corner to a square cell 9 × 9 cm.This means that it should be 18 cm long, taking into account the allowance - 19 cm (0.5 cm on each side). Thus, all partitions are calculated and the necessary strips are cut out of dense fabric (their width should correspond to the height of the box (in this case, 8 cm).
    3. Next, you need to cut the fabric onto the outer walls 4 pcs. 36 × 8 cm each, taking into account the allowance. And the fabric on the bottom, according to the size of the overall structure, is 36 × 36 cm. 1-1.5 cm on each side is enough for allowances.
    4. Next, you need to cut out the bottom and side walls from thick cardboard, which are inserted into the prepared sides for density (or the cardboard is sheathed or pasted over with fabric - as it is convenient for anyone).
    5. The stripes for the partitions are sewn together and processed with an oblique inlay.
    6. Then the side parts are sewn together, into which the cardboard is immediately inserted as a seal and the bottom. Secret locks can be made so that the cardboard can be removed and the cover can be washed.
    7. The last stage is connecting the structure to each other and decorating it. You can use lace, beads, bows, stickers - as long as imagination is enough.

    Cardboard blanks

    If it is planned that the organizer will stand in the drawer of the chest of drawers, you can not decorate it from above, since it will not be visible anyway. If it will be installed in the bedroom or in the bathroom (that is, in plain sight), then it is better to make a box with a lid and decorate it so that it fits organically into the interior.

    You can make an organizer in another way, in which a frame is made from ready-made boxes. The work of the master is to sheathe or paste over with fabric, assemble into one structure and decorate. In order not to waste time and effort on the installation of cardboard, you can use narrow boxes of milk, baby food or cereals (such as Hercules). If there are no such at hand, then you can take sheets of cardboard and make your own square or rectangular dividers.

    How to sew a fabric basket

    The fabric laundry basket is placed in a wardrobe or chest of drawers. For storing dirty laundry, it can be installed or hung in the bathroom for ease of use.

    Cloth basket

    To make a basket, you will need to prepare the necessary tools and materials in advance:

    1. To keep the basket in shape, it is better to use a dense fabric, for example, calico or a bike, because fabrics like satin are thin and the basket will deform.
    2. A ruler, soap, chalk, synthetic winterizer, needles for connecting fabric will come in handy.
    3. The pattern is made square or round as desired. Depending on the pattern, then you need to measure the length and width of the fabric and cut out the blanks.

    The basket can be soft and shapeless or dense. To keep it in shape, you need to use a tight bottom or sew several metal rings into it (for a round basket). For square structures, you can use rods that are sewn in the corners and allow you to keep their shape, especially if the basket is high.

    This design can be used to store dirty linen before washing, clean before ironing, to store towels or bedding sets, or for children's toys.

    The simplest version of the basket is based on a finished cardboard box. You need to choose a basket or box of the required size, measure it, cut out the side parts and the bottom and glue them onto the finished frame. The top of the basket can be decorated with buttons, inscriptions, rhinestones and other accessories.

    Foldable basket

    It can be used for linen, towels, bedding or for dirty clothes as a laundry basket. When gluing fabric to cardboard, it is better to use silicone glue or a gun. It is flexible, it binds materials well and does not sag at high humidity (unlike PVA glue, for example).

    More complex options for baskets can be made based on any materials:

    1. Wooden rods. To make such a basket, you will need 4 wooden slats, 60 cm long, 2 tubes 40 cm each, and 2 tubes 35 and fasteners - bolts and nuts. Further, a frame on legs is made from the rails, to which the fabric base is then attached. It looks like a large bag with loops and is attached to the frame. If necessary, the structure can be folded, and it will take up a minimum of space.
    2. On a plastic frame. To do this, you can take as a basis an office bin (basket) made of plastic. Next, stripes 3-5 cm wide are cut out of the fabric and sewn (pasted over) around the basket. You can put a sewn laundry bag inside.

    Wicker boxes and baskets are often used in the household for storing linen. They can be left in their original form, or decorated with fabric for beauty. When using boxes, organizers can be made, divided into several sections. Their size depends on the purpose: for bath accessories, you need to make more compartments, for underwear - smaller.

    Hanging basket

    Another option for a fabric basket is a hanging one. In fact, it looks like a regular bag, only made of fabric. It can be closed with a lock, a button or not closed - at will. The whole idea of such a basket is to mount it on the wall to save space. Most often, such designs are used for dirty linen and are hung in the bathroom or closets.

    In the end, it can be noted that many are wondering how to sew an organizer for clothes with their own hands from fabric or glue it from cardboard. In fact, it's simple: you need to prepare a project, calculate the required dimensions, prepare materials and do it. Patterns and step-by-step instructions for actions will depend on the model, size and type of organizer or basket.

    Dresser organizer

    You can buy ready-made organizers, or you can turn on your imagination and make original trays for small things on your own from scrap materials - panties, socks, belts, etc.
