Do-it-yourself cyclone filter for a vacuum cleaner. Simple ways to make a filter for a vacuum cleaner with your own hands Modify the hepa filter to the desired size

!
Many of you have had to remove construction waste after repairs or works in a workshop. Even with a powerful construction vacuum cleaner, there is a problem of clogged filters. With repeated use, they fail quickly enough and are not cheap. In addition, the vacuum cleaner tank itself is only ¼ filled. It has to be constantly emptied, and the filters must be cleaned of fine dust.

And if you use an ordinary household vacuum cleaner for this, then he will very quickly want to introduce you to his service center.
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel “Men’s Craft” will tell you how to make a cyclone-type filter that will retain almost all the dust, while not reducing the efficiency of the vacuum cleaner.

This homemade product is extremely easy to manufacture, and all materials are available in hardware store... Having made one for yourself, you will save time on emptying the vacuum cleaner tank, and greatly extend the life of its regular filters.

Materials.
- Sewer pipes, plugs, corners
- Sheet plywood
- Steel clamps
- Masking and insulating tape
- Self-tapping screws for wood
- Sandpaper.

The tools used by the author.
-
- Cutting and cleaning discs
-, drill

- Ruler, square, marker, pencil.

Manufacturing process.
So, the master will use orange as the main tank. sewer pipe with a diameter of 160 mm. He marks a 500 mm section and wraps masking tape around the pipe. In this simple way, you can accurately mark the desired cut.

The pipe is cut according to the markings, then a chamfer is removed from the edge of the cut with a cleaning disc.

On sheet plywood, the author marks the centers for the two posts. Their function will be performed thin tubes... Drills holes in the plywood with a crown.

On the first workpiece, he marks a small rounding, cuts it out, and sands the edge with sandpaper.

The lower bar is made in the same way.

Now steel clamps are screwed to them.

With the help of a square and a ruler, the master finds the center on the plug, and drills it with a bit of a slightly smaller diameter than the pipe.

Heats up the area around the hole and presses the pipe into it.

The inlet of the filter is made in the same way; it should be maximally displaced to the edge of the plug.

Next, the author proceeds to the assembly of the filter outlet to the vacuum cleaner. A small layer of electrical tape is wound on the last corner so that it fits snugly into the inlet of the vacuum cleaner.

He pulls out one elastic band from the short connector. Leaves the second one and inserts the top hole plug into the connector.

The second blank will be the bottom of the filter. On it, the hole is simply closed with a plug.

On the two pipes that will serve as uprights, marks 130 mm at the bottom, and winds a layer of electrical tape in this place.

So, all the structural elements are already ready, you can start assembling. It's very simple too.

Stand pipes are inserted into the standard bar on the vacuum cleaner, and the lower bar is installed.

The upper bar is put on the pipes, and is screwed to the vacuum cleaner cover with short self-tapping screws. Don't worry, this model has no electronics in the lid, it's just a plastic pad with a carrying handle.

The angle is connected to the inlet of the vacuum cleaner, and pipes are connected to the tank. The central tube should go 150-200 mm deep. You can and should experiment with this.

A 45-degree elbow is put on the hose. Its edge must be directed tangentially to the tank wall. Thus, air with debris and dust will swirl inside the tank and deposit dust at its bottom.

It remains to insert the lower part of the tank, and fix it with a clamp.

A long time ago, in a certain apartment of one of the cities of one of the countries of the post-Soviet space, a new vacuum cleaner appeared. And everything was fine with him. He sucked in himself with terrible force the dust and debris of that very apartment, leaving cleanliness and order around ...
After some time, the suction power began to decrease. This was due to a dense layer of dust on the outer surface of the HEPA filter. Washing the filter under running water returned the vacuum cleaner to its former power again. In the end, the HEPA filter began to be washed after each cleaning, using thin solid objects (such as a screwdriver or a knitting needle) during the washing process to pick out dirt from the filter folds.
But as you know, nothing lasts forever under the moon and the filter after about 2-3 years of operation has become like ...

Searches for a new HEPA filter on the Internet gave a disappointing result - about $ 25 (it was like this 3-5 years ago). This is about a third of the cost of a new similar vacuum cleaner ... But the toad began to tell that the vacuum cleaner itself is still like new, the engine works great and it would be nice to find another way out.
And the way out was found.
Once buying a kind of app in the car market. part for the car, I paid attention to car air filters. After reviewing the proposed options, I settled on a filter from Moskvich 2141 costing about $ 1.

HEPA filter recovery process:
For work we need a minimum set of tools and materials.

We bite off the outer protective mesh with nippers car filter from both ends and along the middle. Then the mesh is removed from the filter.

Next, with a sharp knife, cut off the filter paper from the end rubber seals. You need to cut along the filter material, in several passes, directly at the junction of the filter material and rubber.

The resulting sheet of filter material is laid out on flat surface... We measure from one longitudinal edge a distance equal to the height of our old filter (the height of the plastic bottom and cover must be subtracted from the full height of the filter). Using a ruler, draw a line and cut with scissors. It turns out such a blank.

Now you need to prepare the remnants of the old filter for reincarnation. Cut off the lid and bottom.

We mechanically clean them from the adhesive with which the filter material was glued.

We apply a new adhesive composition. Ordinary sanitary silicone is ideal for this case. Holds well enough, hardens in a day, peels off the next time the filter is replaced much easier than native glue, is sold on every corner.

Now the most important operation.
Fold the beginning and end of the filter material accordion together with a slight overlap.

We squeeze the resulting cylinder to the desired diameter and insert it into the bottom of the filter, smeared with glue.

Then, holding the filter with one hand, glue the cover on top.
This process is best done without glue.
If everything is inserted / glued evenly, then we put a suitable load on the revived filter and set it to dry for a day.
As a result, we get the following result.

In such a simple way, I no longer remember how many years I have been going against the global conspiracy of vacuum cleaner manufacturers and marketers))). Add to favourites Liked +150 +311

Operating principle

Many people know what construction debris is and how difficult it is to clean up, especially on an industrial scale. There are special construction vacuum cleaners on the market that have high power, in comparison with household ones, but at the same time have large dimensions and a considerable price. Therefore, the masters of their craft create cyclone-type chip suckers with their own hands, thereby improving their household vacuum cleaners and making their work easier.

The filter is a structure of two compartments: external and internal. Under the action of centrifugal force, all the litter entering the dust collector is sorted into large and small particles on the basis of the cyclonic principle.

About filters: The cyclone filter does not trap more than 97% of dust. Therefore, additional filters are often added to them. From English "HEPA" translates as High Efficiency Particulate Air "- a filter for airborne particles.

Agree that even you cannot imagine your life without such necessary equipment as a vacuum cleaner? They handle not only dust, but also dirt.

Of course, vacuum cleaners can be used not only at home, but they are also different: rechargeable, washing, pneumatic. As well as automobile, low-voltage industrial, knapsack, gasoline, etc.

James Dyson is the first creator of the cyclonic vacuum cleaner. His first creation was, G-Force in 1986.

A little later in the 1990s, he filed a petition for the manufacture of cyclones and has already assembled his center for the creation of vacuum cleaners. In 1993, his first vacuum cleaner went on sale - known as the "Dayson DC01". So how does this cyclone-type miracle work?

It looks like creator James Dyson was a wonderful physicist. Due to centrifugal force it is involved in dust collection.

The device is two-chamber and it is divided into two types - external and internal. The air that swirls inside the dust collector moves upward, as if in a spiral.

According to the law, large particles of dust fall into the outer chamber, and everything else remains in the inner chamber. And the cleaned air comes out of the dust collector through filters. This is how cyclone vacuum cleaners work.

Don't go with those models that require little power. You will definitely not like such cleaning and most likely want to throw away such a device.

Interesting! How to cook with a semiautomatic device with carbon dioxide, here!

Don't waste your money, but take your vacuum cleaner purchase more seriously. One has only to contact the seller, a consultant, and he will help you with the choice of this or that vacuum cleaner.

The device should be chosen, which is 20-30% more powerful than a bag vacuum cleaner. It is best to take the one with a power of 1800 watts. Almost all manufacturers of vacuum cleaners produce models with this filter, which is good news.

1.Everyone, probably, this happened when an item you need accidentally ended up in the dust collector? Now this is not a problem because it is transparent! And you can always notice objects that need to be pulled out of there as soon as possible.

This is one of the most important advantages.

2. The power of such vacuum cleaners is maximum and does not reduce the speed and power, even with a clogged container. Cleaning is much more pleasant, power does not drop, cleaning is cleaner.

Such a vacuum cleaner is capable of retaining much more than you imagine. Up to 97% !!! Not likely, right? Although some are unhappy with this result, as they prefer vacuum cleaners with a water filter.

4. No need to constantly change paper bags for vacuum cleaner.

5. Power. She is not lost from fullness.

6. It can be thoroughly washed with water and dried.

1. One of the disadvantages of these vacuum cleaners is not very pleasant. This is washing and cleaning the filter. Of course, you don't have to brush the container every day with a brush, but still, this is one of the disadvantages. Laziness is present in every person. Yes, of course it is unpleasant to face the fact that you need to get your pens dirty.

2. Noise. The noise from this type of vacuum cleaner is much more than from a conventional one.

3. Power consumption. It is also much higher than that of a conventional vacuum cleaner. It's a little tornado.

Whether or not to buy this little miracle is up to you. In fact, all of its advantages overlap those not many of its disadvantages. The cleanliness of the house is much more pleasant than the unfinished tidy, won't you agree?

Personal impressions

Compared to the old vacuum cleaner, the cyclone dust collector looks rather modest in size. It is impossible to believe that such a baby is capable of anything serious. Now the old vacuum cleaner can only be used for wet cleaning.

I take out the accessories, at the first use, insert a pipe not large in diameter, turn on the device, and that's what really surprises, the brush cleans carpets much better than my previous assistant.

He cleans everything. Dirt, hair of our pets. Previously, one had to make no small efforts to cope with such "now little things".

I have laminated flooring in the hallway and it was just as easy to clean. The fact is that I have another brush in stock, which is tougher than the previous one for carpets, which is why I coped with this task so easily. You know, and the sound of this vacuum cleaner is not as loud as they wrote about it on the Internet.

I am pleased with this device because it is light and not so loud. I also liked the compartment for storing all the necessary attachments, it is very convenient that it is built into the vacuum cleaner itself.

Once I knew what this little tornado is capable of, it was time to clean the container. Thank God, when I began to shake out the garbage from the dust collector, it fell in dense large lumps.

Since the debris has been compacted by the air flow. No dust balls are visible, and he did not rise into the air! This is how I finished my first cleaning with my cyclonic vacuum cleaner. I washed the container and the cleaning is over!

All vacuum cleaners are designed for one purpose - cleanliness. We are talking about all vacuum cleanersIndustrial and construction vacuum cleaners are usually used on machines or for cleaning any premises. These vacuum cleaners are expensive, since the principle of the vacuum cleaner cyclone filter must be selected carefully.

You should also know that most often industrial devices are used for repairs and construction. Leave your workplace you need to be clean.

Do-it-yourself cyclone filter for a vacuum cleaner - A selection of excellent video with

If a person has his own workshop, then one of critical issues it is worth cleaning the room.

But unlike cleaning dust in an apartment, an ordinary household vacuum cleaner will not help here, since it is not designed for debris and sawdust - its garbage tank (dust collector or bag) will clog up very quickly and become unusable. Therefore, a homemade cyclone filter is often used, which, together with a household vacuum cleaner, will help clean the workshop.

Introduction

Wood dust and other technical waste, although it seems harmless at first glance, in fact, are fraught with many different dangers, both for the master and for the equipment.

For example, continuous operation without protective equipment to prevent dust from entering the respiratory system can cause serious complications. respiratory tract, worsen the sense of smell, etc.

In addition, the tool that is in the workshop under the influence of dust can quickly fail. This is due to the fact that:

  1. dust, mixing with the lubricant inside the tool, forms a mixture that is completely unsuitable for lubricating moving parts, resulting in overheating and further breakdown
  2. dust can obstruct the rotation of the moving parts of the tool, resulting in additional loads, overheating and failure,
  3. dust clogs the air ducts designed to ventilate the heated parts of the tool and remove heat from them, resulting in overheating, deformation and failure again.

Thus, the issue of the quality of removal of sawing products and, in general, the cleaning of the room is very acute. Modern power tools are equipped with systems for removing dust and chips directly from the sawing area, which prevents dust from spreading throughout the workshop. In any case, you need a vacuum cleaner (or chip sucker) for the dust removal process!

There are good industrial vacuum cleaners and if possible, it is better to choose the most optimal option for price and quality and buy a construction vacuum cleaner.

Nevertheless, there are times when there is already a household vacuum cleaner and it is easier to upgrade it and solve the problem of collecting construction waste indoors. To do this, you need to use a cyclone filter - it is done in half an hour with all the necessary elements.

Principle of operation

There are a great many different designs of cyclones, but they all share the same operating principle. All designs of cyclonic chip suckers consist of three main parts:

  • Household vacuum cleaner
  • Cyclone filter
  • Garbage collection container

Its design is such that the flow of the intake air is directed in a circle and its rotational movement is obtained. Accordingly, a centrifugal force acts on the construction waste contained in this air stream (these are large and heavy fractions), which presses it against the walls of the cyclone chamber and, under the action of gravity, it gradually settles in the tank.

The disadvantage of a cyclonic vacuum cleaner is that in this way only dry garbage can be collected, but if there is water in the garbage, then there will be problems with the suction of such a substance.

The vacuum cleaner must be powerful enough, since in its normal operation it is supposed to suck in air through a standard hose.

Since the design is as maneuverable as a separate vacuum cleaner, the length of the last hose should be sufficient for comfortable work.

As mentioned above, you can make a cyclone filter for a workshop in half an hour, but for this you need to check the availability of everything necessary for the production of a chip sucker with your own hands, namely: tools, materials and consumables.

For the production of work, tracking tools will be needed:

  1. electric drill,
  2. screwdriver,
  3. jigsaw,
  4. compass,
  5. clamps,
  6. phillips screwdriver,
  7. pencil,
  8. core drill for wood (50-60mm),
  9. set of drills.

Materials and fasteners

The materials can be used both new and used, so carefully review the list below - perhaps you already have something in stock;

  1. The air duct (hose) for the vacuum cleaner is corrugated or in a textile braid.
  2. A sewer pipe with a diameter of 50 mm and a length of 100–150 mm, at one end of which the air duct of your household vacuum cleaner must be inserted.
  3. Sewer outlet 30 or 45 degrees, 100-200 mm long, at one end of which the air duct specified in clause 1 will be inserted in the future.
  4. Bucket ("large") plastic 11-26 liters with a hermetically sealed lid.
  5. Bucket ("small") plastic 5-11 liters. Note. It is important that the difference between the two maximum diameters of the buckets is approximately 60–70 mm.
  6. Plywood sheet 15–20 mm thick. The sheet size must be larger than the maximum diameter of the Large Bucket.
  7. Self-tapping screws for wood with a flat wide head and a length of 2/3 of the plywood thickness.
  8. Gel sealant is universal.

THOMAS (Yeardley) I accidentally forgot to pour water into the aquafilter and cleaned the whole apartment in dry mode. Is it too bad for a vacuum cleaner? What should I do now?
Answer:
The aquafilter cannot work without water. This means that all the garbage and all the dust that you collected in your apartment got inside the device without filtration. If you have not forgotten to put the HEPA filter on, then it took the whole blow upon itself. And most likely, you will have to replace it. You can try cleaning it as described in the instructions for your vacuum cleaner. Then put it in its original place, assemble the device, aquafilter correctly, pour 1 liter of water and turn it on. If the suction power has decreased, the filter will have to be replaced, that is, it was so dirty that cleaning did not help.

In addition to the bag, the vacuum cleaner has other filters. - BAGS FOR ...

But besides the dust collector in any vacuum cleaner of the classical scheme, there are others ... At the same time, the remaining filters can be replaced with simpler and ...

Today the market household appliances filled modern models vacuum cleaners equipped with various filters. Their main purpose is high-quality air filtration by retaining the smallest dust particles. However, the high cost supplies, as well as the desire to modify your vacuum cleaner, often lead to a question among consumers: how to make a filter for a vacuum cleaner with your own hands at home. There are many different ways manufacturing of filter elements, the main advantage of which is their availability. After all, all necessary materials and tools can usually be found at home or purchased at any hardware store at low prices.

What can you make a filter for a vacuum cleaner

Filters are created using various materialswhich are easy to find at any hardware store. Foam rubber is a common option. But you can also use any dense non-woven fabric. The main thing to pay attention to is the density of the composition. The material should pass water quite easily and at the same time retain the smallest dust.

Foam Filter

If the filter element is dirty, in order to avoid the expense of buying a new one, you can replace it yourself. To do this, you need a piece of new foam rubber of the required thickness, or you can also use a sponge for washing dishes. At the same time, in the case of purchasing material, you can buy foam rubber of different density (the layer with a higher density will go first to the filter inlet). Scissors cut out right size and the same scissors adjust the thickness, after which a new filter is installed in the vacuum cleaner.

Filter made of other materials

Self-creation process air filter implies the use of other materials. Foam rubber can be replaced with fabrics of the same density.

The manufacturing principle is the same as in the case of using foam: with the help of scissors or an office knife, a filter of the required size is cut out of the material.

DIY water filter

Water filters (or aquafilters) refer to effective ways cleaning. Along with high dust removal rates, this system also allows you to humidify the air.

The water filter works according to the following principle: air together with dust particles enters a tank with water where, under the action of gravity, the whole suspension settles to the bottom of the filter, and the cleaned and wet air flows further through the device and flows out. The device also has disadvantages:

  • large weight of the structure due to the additional mass of water;
  • increased noise during the operation of the vacuum cleaner.

Materials for the manufacture

To make an aquafilter from tools, you only need a drill, self-tapping screws and a screwdriver. The main materials will be:

  • aluminum pan;
  • 5 l plastic bottle;
  • hose;
  • metal adapter.

The assembly process for a new filtration system consists of several steps:

Do-it-yourself filter for the Samsung vacuum cleaner

Many vacuum cleaners samsung brand equipped with HEPA output filters, which are known for their trapping performance even of microscopic dust particles and high-quality air purification. However, filter elements of this category have a significant drawback - the need for their frequent replacement, as well as a rather high price. That is why, they are often made independently.

Materials for the manufacture

To design a new HEPA filter with your own hands from tools, you only need a clerical knife. The list of materials will include a cabin filter for machines with the same “accordion” height as the original filter in a vacuum cleaner. Also, during the work, a sealant and acetone will be used for degreasing. The manufacture of a cleaning system involves several stages:

  1. Using a clerical knife, cut out the dirty filter from the cassette.
  2. The cabin filter is disassembled and the filter material is removed. Tightly squeezing the "accordion", cut out the filter, the size of which should be 1 mm smaller than the internal size of the cartridge.
  3. A sealant layer is applied to the cabin filter in a compressed state around the perimeter.
  4. The inner part of the cartridge from under the HEPA filter is pre-degreased with acetone and also covered with a layer of sealant (the thickness of the layer should be about 3 mm).
  5. The filter element is installed in a plastic shell and then dries within 1 hour.

Membrane filter

Filters of this type are used in many professional models of vacuum cleaners that do not have garbage bags. The main purpose of the membrane is additional purification of the air flow before it enters the HEPA filter (to the last filtration section). Additionally, the membrane protects the entire device, preventing dust particles from entering the system and clogging other filters.

Materials for the manufacture

In order to independently make a membrane filter, you will need a piece of dense material, which can always be purchased at a hardware store. In this case, it is necessary to take measurements in advance from the original dust collector, which requires replacement.

You can increase the density of the fabric by folding the canvas in several layers. Thick cardboard or plastic can be used as a base for the membrane bag. You can attach the filter to the base in one of the following ways:

  • using glue that fixes the neck of the bag between two pieces of cardboard;
  • using Velcro - in this case, you will first need to glue one part of the Velcro to the base, and sew the second to the bag itself.

Cyclone filter

The design of cyclone filters makes them much more convenient and efficient than conventional waste bins. Due to its spaciousness and hygiene, such cleaning systems are becoming increasingly popular. However, the high cost is not affordable for everyone.

The principle of operation is as follows: the air flow passes through primary filters, which trap fine dust particles. Further, the air enters the cyclone filter - a container in which, under the influence of the vortex effect, larger particles of debris are twisted and, under their weight, settle to the bottom. At the outlet, the air is 98% purified.

Materials for the manufacture

The easiest way to make a cyclone filter is to use a plastic bucket as the main element. The volume is calculated quite simply. For every 100 W of power, add 1 liter of capacity.

Expert Opinion

Ask an expert a question

A mandatory requirement for the capacity is the presence of a tightly fitting cover.

In order to design a cyclone filter, the following tools will be required:

  • stationery knife;
  • glue gun;
  • silicone;
  • compass.

From the materials you will need:

  • container with a lid (you can use buckets from under the paint or mortar);
  • 45 ° elbow - 2 pcs.;
  • 90 ° elbow - 2 pcs.;
  • sealing rings;
  • plastic pipe.

The manufacturing process is carried out as follows:

Aquafilter for vacuum cleaner

Water filtration systems are perhaps the most popular among users. However, the price of vacuum cleaners equipped with this cleaning method is often too high. Therefore, there are many options for homemade aquafilters. Below is another example.

Materials for the manufacture

For homemade construction of an aquafilter you will need:

  • 10 l PVC bucket with lid;
  • plumbing adapters (3 pcs.);
  • pVC panel;
  • corrugated pipe for air flow output.

On one side of the bucket, two holes are cut out, the diameter of which is equal to the diameters of the pipes. The walls of the holes are lubricated with silicone. An elbow is inserted into one of them and another pipe connected to it so that its end is right next to the bottom of the tank (a gap of no more than 2 cm) - this part will act as an inlet for air flow. An additional cover is pre-cut from PVC with an opening for a branch pipe and a crevice for air outlet, after which it is installed in a bucket (with a small slope).

In the second hole, located above the membrane, another branch pipe is installed, to which a hose for the vacuum cleaner will be connected in the future. Before work, about 2–2.5 liters of water is poured into the tank.

pros

Homemade filtration systems have a lot of undoubted advantages, namely:

  • save time and money;
  • expand the functional capabilities of the vacuum cleaner;
  • improve the quality of cleaning;
  • have high quality, which is in no way inferior to the quality of factory elements.

Minuses

Getting started self-made filters, you need to take into account some of the nuances:

  • The first of these is the prohibition of installation during the period when the device is under warranty. This can be explained by the fact that if the vacuum cleaner fails, the free maintenance and repair service will not concern those units of equipment that are equipped with any non-native parts.
  • You also need to take into account the need for at least minimal skills in the manufacture and assembly of structures of increased complexity.

Would you make a filter for a vacuum cleaner with your own hands?

YesNot

Thanks to a lot of different optionsDIY filters are available for every user. This approach not only allows you to significantly save money and time for the purchase of new elements, but also significantly increases the quality of air purification, even on those models of vacuum cleaners on which conventional air filters are provided.
